My New Ride! 9-16-21

I hope you’re sitting down when you read this – I bought this cute little pickup this week. No, I don’t know what I was thinking but I’ll bet it’s going to be fun, don’t you think?

Connie and I are planning a short road trip this fall and I hope to drive Little Red.

Ooo, a little zoom zoom!! I bet you have fun zipping around in that! Very cute (and I LOVE red..my cars are almost always red except one time around they couldn’t find what I wanted in red so that one was copper).

  2. Judy

Cute is right! It doesn’t look like any of the farm trucks around here. I am sure you will enjoy it.😃

  3. Laura

I love little red! I’ve always wanted one of those, but alas it is not going to happen. Enjoy the ride!!!

  4. Betty Klosterman

Now that is an uptown pickup — not the farm truck. Pretty fancy, have to really look to see which is the front end! You will enjoy it.

Well done Mary! Your new toy is absolutely adorable and may you enjoy many miles driving it❣️

You are going to look good in that cute little truck! I’m also wondering what kind it is? Adorable!

I love it! Just too cute. Am jealous. You’ll be the talk of the town. I can just see Hazel riding shotgun!

Love, love ,love it! Of course, anything red is great. What is it? We had a ‘52 Willys Jeep when I was a kid. I always thought we should paint it red😀🚘. Enjoy. Where are you and Connie going?
I am looking forward to Connie’s report about Shanksville and the Flight 93 commemoration. My brother in law worked for Farm Credit and the land where 93 crashed was owned by one of his clients. Very upsetting.

Mary already posted about Connie on Sept. 15. Check out that post. Hope this was helpful.

Thank you to everyone for the info on Connie’s report on 9/15. Mary’s blog goes to my husband’s email because it doesn’t like my email. No big deal, but every now and then I miss one.

Diane – it is Chevy super sport roadster, 17 years old with only 14,000 miles on it and in pristine condition – not a mark on it! We’re going to drive to Winterset, Iowa to the Iowa Quilt Museum. Hopefully next week.

Good morning! I also own a red Chevy SSR with Montana Quilter license plates. You will LOVE it! The “trunk” can haul tons of quilting stuff and machines safe and secure!! The SSR family is so much like the quilting family. If you ever have a problem just reach out to the group on ssrfanatic.com or the Ssr fanatic Facebook page and you will have numerous replies in minutes. Welcome to the Permagrin SSR family!!!

Carol Petty – what fantastic news about an SSR family – haha! I just thought it was a cute shaped little pickup – I had no idea it could become a convertible and that the top would fold down into the bed. It never even occurred to me! I mentioned it one day to my friend Bob and within a week he found one 40 miles away – 2004, 14,000 miles and in pristine condition! I bought it on a whim just because it looked so cute! Haha!! I will happily join the Facebook group! Thank you!

Love, Love, Love, your Red Truck. You will have fun on your trip with Connie. Life is too short not to have fun. Looks like you have lots of room to fill with fabric. It couldn’t be better. Know you will enjoy your trip.

A road trip with your sister will be so much fun. Couldn’t have been a better color.
Enjoy and smile and wave every time you use it. As we get older you need to do things you never thought you would do.
Most of all have fun, laugh and enjoy!

Bobbie – Little Red is actually 17 years old and in perfect condition – only 14,000 miles on it! Yes, I think it will be fun!

Oh, Mary, it is adorable. It was a very wise purchase; it will be so much fun, and it will hold tons of fabric, etc. 🥰

  14. Cinders

Rosie the Red Roadster is a beauty! Enjoy your travels! I love the extra room you have with the trunk…covered truck bed. Oh the adventures you will have! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

I love your red pick-up!! My husband and I looked at those years ago and I always wanted one. So glad you got it! They didn’t make too many of them. Enjoy and have a blast!!

  17. Gloria From CC

Good choice Mary! You will have so much fun driving it. I too looked at that pickup when it was first introduced- very retro looking. You and Connie can come over to see my new “quilt lodge” in it. It matches the exterior of the lodge. We’ll take lots of pictures of it sitting out front😁.

Gloria from CC – that’s a deal – we’d love to come over to see your new quilt lodge – sounds fun!

  18. Angie from Baltimore

    I. LOVE. LITTLE RED. It looks fun and I always think one should have a fun car once in a lifetime and that is why I have a VW convertible named Myrtle which is Habanero Red but looks ORANGE. I always had a car that got me from point A to B but now I have a fun car that gets me to and fro. So happy for you. Every time I get in it I feel HAPPY GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Angie – I think that’s the color of Little Red – an orangey red and so shiny! I could never get along without my van but this will be fun – I’m driving it to the grocery store this morning.

  19. Marj in Western Wisconsin

I only drive trucks, we own two, don’t want a car. Enjoy. It just spoke to you, didn’t it.

  20. Carol Garner

Oh my, please take lots of pictures. A beautiful, sweet classy ride, and in my favorite color. ENJOY!

  21. Diane in Maryland

I can’t believe it is 17 years old! It looks new and with only 14,000 miles it is! I love Bobby’s comment about Hazel riding shotgun!

  22. Janet S

WOW! This post has gotten more attention than anything else. My son also owns a SSR but in blue – very rare. I try and arm-wrestle the key from him once in a while but so far – no. You will LOVE driving it.

  23. Janice Hebert

I love Little Red, I’ve never seen one before! I’ll be on the watch for them now. Enjoy and have a great trip with Connie. Jan in MA

  24. Mandy Stewart

  25. Andra Sims

It’s just. So cute with that little round cab. I know you’ll have a lot of fun in it. More shops!

  26. Sally J Penning

Oh your Little Red is adorable! What kind of auto is it? Too cute. I can just see you and your sister tooling around in it! Fun times.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Sally Penning – it’s a 2004 Chevy SSR – actually a fancy pickup that can do tricks!

  27. Cindy Karas

That is the cutest vehicle I have ever seen!! Red is my favorite color. I have never seen one before, but I think I shall be looking for one. I have never had a fun auto but this could change that. Hope you have a ball driving it!! Cindy K. in Wi.

Cindy Karas – isn’t it just the cutest little thing? I will explain all about it in an upcoming post – it’s 17 years old! Almost collectible! Haha!
