Happy Labor Day 2025
Please don’t stop telling us about your days. You are inspiring and I believe most of us enjoy hearing all of the things you are doing:)
NIce here. 62* right now so off to walk and feed my puppy friends while I do. Sometimes it takes much longer because, of course, I stop and admire them and talk to the owners:) It is fun.
Retreat this weekend. I have two projects so far. the Shop Hop was great fun and I did buy a few things. We took our grand daughter to lunch last week for her 24th bday. It is actually 9/3, but she is busy that night. I love it:) She is a beautiful inside and out young woman.
Keep on “talking” Mary, we love it:)
I really enjoyed your blog today. Loved the funnies. The pictures are always fun to look at. Happy Labor Day to all!
Love Betty. We had an above ground pool and had to keep the ladder out because our dog would climb the ladder and jump in the pool. We thought we would have to worry about the little boy next door but no we had to worry about the dog jumping in. lol. Love your post!!!
Wry, I haven’t messaged you for quite awhile but wanted to thank you for your posts. I look so forward everyday to see what is happening at the farm. Always makes my day start off nice. I don’t know how you do all that you do but WOW, amazing, just hope you can keep posting and all you do for other is so very kind and that’s what it is all about.. love hearing bout all the animals and know if I was younger I would have chickens..❤️
Thanks again,
M
Margaret – I’ll bet I don’t do anymore than most anyone reading this blog – it’s just that I TELL you – and evidently brag about it! I think I’ll quit doing that
Don’t stop Mary. You aren’t bragging at all. You are inspiring. We all enjoy listening to your day to day work, activities or whatever we want to call it.
Mary, it must be the way you describe your tasks. Over all these years I have not heard you bragging. I like that you get to be outside with the dogs all day, sprucing up the surroundings. It warms the soul.
Look at Betty’s smile! That’s one happy dog!
Happy Labor Day to all.
Haha!! I’ll have to share the kaleidoscope joke with my grandson and the knitters joke with my knitting group! I still haven’t decided if the joke about 5 men is even funny, it hits a little too close to home! LOL!!
That morning sunrise picture is so beautiful – great start to my day. Congratulations to Ron for his recognition of service. Fall is not in the air here, yet . . . but, those Fall quilts sure help mentally! Those patchwork totes are cheerful and practical. Betty’s smile says it all.

Love the fall quilts! So pretty. Our nights here in SW Ohio have gotten pretty cool, but it does warm up during the day. I’m hoping all the tomatoes that are on my two plants ripen. I normally have a bumper crop, but this year they’re very slow to ripen. Ron & I had the honor to be invited to Parris Island, SC for a Marine Celebration & graduation of a friend’s nephew. Ron was honored at the flag raising & was also given a coin by the Brigadier General. This is the first time Ron’s been back in 74 yrs! It was worth the 11 hr drive to see him honored. I also was able to present the QOV quilt to James! He & his sweet wife were thrilled to get that quilt! I shared pictures of that quilt a week ago. It appears we’re going to have an early fall, but it’s nice after the extreme heat most of us have had this summer. Now Boots & I can walk daily. Boots stayed with my friend Sandy while we were gone. She has an older dog named Preston. Those two played long & hard. We keep each other’s dogs when needed. I think we’ve been doing this for at least 20 yrs. Neither of us want to board our dogs out. Everyone have a great Labor Day!
Rain and more rain! I am in SW Iowa! Had me inside captive–but it’s a good thing as I have been able to work my way through some tasks to get ready for a 4 day retreat. It’s just day retreats and home to sleep. It’s 5 mi away from home the long way around on a paved rd. Maybe 1.5 mi on the gravel rd.
Love the pic of the dog in the boat on a lake. I had a cairn terrier who loved the water, in and out. She loved being on the bow of the boat on any lake and the ocean (in AK).
I wish I could hug and kiss Betty, when I first saw her it brought tears to my eyes, she resembles my Miles that I lost in June. I miss him so much, sweetest boy ever and a true mama’s boy. My only fear of adopting anyone these days, even Minnie, is they will out live me and no one can love them like I do.
Minnie is taking all my time, she see me and runs to me, wants me to hold her constantly. She is now playing and every so often something gets her and she hunchs up and bounces with her back up like a halloween cat! And she has gained two ounces, up to a whopping 14 ounces. It’s all tummy, her little belly gets like a tiny balloon after she eats! I wish everyone could see her in person, you wouldn’t put her down either!
Have a safe, happy holiday. Remember it’s labor day so women don’t labor! Blessings
Linda – Betty is a gem, isn’t she? She’s stocky and solid like a brick shithouse, as my dad used to say. I feel your fear, Linda, becuse it’s mine, too. I’m tempted to put in my will that any animals left when I die be euthanized. I would rather that than neglect or abuse. Then we’ll all arrive in Heaven about the same time! And on the other hand, my mom and her sisters all lived into their 90’s so I think I could get another dog – a senior possibly. I have the perfect set up with 9 fenced 6’ high fences. I’m just thinking out loud here.
Maybe you could find a little fanny pack to carry Minnie around in with you.
Betty is such a pretty dog! Before I got Boots I checked with my son & wife to see if anything happened to me that Boots would have a home with them. They’re big animal lovers, so I’m able to enjoy having a pup. I’ve adopted 2 senior dogs over the yrs that their owners have died. They were the best dogs! Both lived with me for 4-5 yrs.
Love all the photos and appreciate the chuckles! Betty is PRECIOUS!!! She looks so happy sitting on that boat! Still hot as ever here. Hoping this cool front makes it down to Florida.
Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day!
Summer is finally here. It was 93 on my patio. Too hot. I love all the pictures today. My son, wife and 4 grands just left. They brought dinner and we played Telestrations (a fun drawing game). I sent my twin grandsons your joke about the telescope and the microscope. They loved it and are going to share it.
Funny! We have had two showers of unexpected rain, one yesterday and one today. Just poured!
Love the fall quilts, and your flowers are lush with all the rain! So pretty! Happy Labor Day!
