Reader Photos, 8-7-24

This might be a disjointed post – I’m catching up.

Penny

Please notice how this reader explained with text within the photo. This is how I wish you’d all do it – I simply cannot cut and paste all the text. And it’s so fun to hear the details!

Never ever apologize for piles of projects! I could work here very comfortably!

Addresses of readers who could use a greeting from us:

Linette Stewart

9120 Dusk Dr.

Elkhorn, WI 53121

Linda Everett

5944 Quail Hollow Rd. Apt D

Charlotte, NC 28210

As soon as I feel caught up I’m going to feature some cards that are almost pieces of art – I can’t believe a reader went to so much work or saved such a special card and then sent it to me. Honestly, I will never ever take a greeting card for granted again. Remember when we started the greeting card campaign – for Martha?

I said it then and I’ll add it again tonight – kindness matters.

What fun photos. I’ve barely figured out how to download the pictures from the phone. More training will be needed to add words. LOL

The dog and cat together are too precious. It’s nice to know pets are such a big part of people’s lives.

The sewing room is amazing. The jars full of fabric on the windowsill are inspiring. I have a laundry carrier that folds up for easy storage. It holds many fabric scraps. I really love seeing how folks get so much done in smaller spaces. Wonderful.

Thanks for setting up the photos Mary.

    Mary,
Hello! Loved this post. I love the bears in the first quilt! My son’s name is Barrett so I buy a lot of bear fabric but these bear faces are so real. Very nice quilt. Sues quilt is very pleasing to my eye also.
I have really enjoyed the sewing rooms! Mine looks most like the last one! And the chairs in last two photos are pretty.
Loved the sleeping cat and dog. Take care!

I love the sewing room photos too, and one thing I have noticed….We all have very full spaces without much space left. lol I know I do. But in my chaos, I know where most things are, even though some would not believe it. We are happy quilters all and never lack for something to do.
I am happy for you, Mary. Being suspended in space, not knowing what is next, is not a nice feeling. Slow moving cancer is the one to have if you have to have it. I had one in my breast 4 or 5 years ago. They removed the tiny lump along with some surrounding tissue and a few lymph nodes and that was that. No chemo or radiation. They kind of pushed that but I declined mainly because of my age. So here I am. 85 and still kickin’.

Sue / I love stories like yours and look forward to the day when I’m not facing all these appointments!!! I was thrilled when he said no chemo or radiation!!! Congratulations on your good health!

The sewing room pictures are so interesting. I really liked the first quilt with the animals ma great way to showcase them.

Mary, the news from your doctor appointment at Mayo could have been much worse. It’s good that you finally have some answers and a plan going forward. I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts.

Love all the pictures of sewing rooms and pets. Some of them have such a big stash! I shouldn’t have any problems justifying mine. Maybe I should buy more 😂
    Penny is adorable!

It is nice to read the text on the photos, but I don’t have photo editing software that has that capability, so I’ll have to stick with a hand written card.

Will get a card out to Linda today; sent Linette’s on Monday. Love that first quilt and the sewing room tours. I don’t understand what someone is thinking when he parks his trunk on an angle. At least there weren’t a lot of other cars in the parking lot.🙄

Hi Mary, more wonderful tidy quilt rooms, l am in the messy class, keep picking up fabric and stuff, but never get on top of it! I don’t think l could type labels I on quilts, l get overwhelmed by it all. Tomorrow l need to put final borders on string star quilt and pin it, so l have some hand quilting to do when we have a sewing day on Saturday, then it will be vacuum up all the threads etc on the carpet to prepare for the next quilt toʻ to be made! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

Wow-liking all of the sewing rooms! Has been fun seeing all of the different layouts and decorating. Martha-thanks for the tip on adding text to photos-I’ll have to try it. I’ve sent in many photos but never knew how to add words.

  9. Lynne from NJ

    Enjoyed all the pictures today.
    Loved your sewing space Fiona.
Getting lots of rain here but glad for the cooler temperatures and didn’t need the ac today.

I loved all the photos you shared and especially loved Ice Bear Quilts’ sewing area, but I’d just trash it like mine, so I loved looking anyway! I will try to figure out how to put text on a photo. For me, another project awaits! I appreciate that we get a glimpse into others’ sewing spaces! Like going on a garden tour in a way. I agree about the reaching out with a greeting-get well card, it is a day brighter for sure, glad people still take the time to do this, Larry was so surprised. He is getting along well, still wearing the sleeve for his arm.

Cindy – I’m so glad Larry is doing well! Rick will also wear his compression socks and will forever.

I really like how someone typed info on the photo. I just figured it out after my mother’s 100th birthday party. We send photos to her electric photo frame but she sometimes doesn’t recognize the people. If anyone needs to know: take the photo and then go to your photo gallery and edit it by cropping and typing the information on it. It is so cool to be able to do that.
I’ll get my cards off this week.

Wow there are a lot of pictures. I’m always a sucker for the animal shots. A dog cot. Wow! Love the kitty and the dog and cat sleeping together.
The sewing rooms continue to make me chuckle because of the sheer volume of stuff which I can relate to. The gardens and quilts are terrific.
In regards to the parking, I must admit I must have spatial problem. I try my hardest to get between the lines and I do but maybe not evenly. I’m much more aware of my parking inequities.
    Happy Thursday and prayers always.
Hurricane Debby is on its way. We may get a lot of rain and possible tornadoes. Oh joy. We do need the rain though.

Thanks for listing the addresses of the two ladies who could use a card in the mail. Hopefully knowing we care will help ease their burden just a little. My cards will be in the mail tomorrow.
What a nice variety of photos once again. I enjoyed them all.
