The Lost Is Found! 5-5-21

When I got to Connie’s today, she said “Don’t hate me!” What???? She then handed my the Uncle Sam on a Bike quilt! Hahaha! I have searched 10 acres for this quilt and it was at Connie’s house the whole time.

The wrens came back today and the cardinal is singing from the top of the trees – the barn swallows arrived on Monday and a couple goldfinches were at the feeder today. It’s been a feast for the eyes and ears!

I gave Jenny some vintage clothes and of course there’s always Governor Hammill’s hat!

I made Tom a birthday cake – Country Threads Heath Bar Cake.

Here’s the recipe. And don’t give me any flack about those raw egg yolks in the frosting – we have eaten this for years and it’s never been an issue.

Sam, Owen and Ivy will be here soon – I’m going to let Owen plant some seeds and then we’ll watch them each week. I think he’d like to plant them in one of Rick’s old work boots.

So that’s today – more tomorrow!

The dress looks like it was made for her,and the hat is perfect! She needs a field of wildflowers to walk through…….
Isn’t it interesting how lost items usually do turn up eventually? 🤣😂
That cake looks delicious. Have a great week!🌼

Thanks for the great pictures and new to me recipe I will try. How sweet seeing the vintage clothes on Jenny who wears them so well. You must be getting excited for the sale to happen and will relief when it’s all over. You have time to play too planting seeds so what a blessed day you have! I just had to replace hens and chickens in an old work boot of my husbands that was in there season to season for the last 20 years.

HaHa…Your quilt story is very funny. I know the feeling. We are forever looking for something around here. But, for it to be that far away is a good laugh.
Thanks for the great-looking cake recipe. Don’t tell, but I put a raw egg (one of ours) in smoothies all the time. I don’t think I would use a store-bought one, though.
Jennie looks so cute in that dress. Oh, to be that thin.

My friend has an old pair of child’s rain boots, the yellow ones. She uses them as flower vases on the patio…so cute.
Jenny is beautiful! Connie can be forgiven if, a big if, she buys lunch after the sale!!!

Jenny looks very nice in that outfit, I’ll bet she looks cute in everything she puts on. I’m very happy you found the Uncle Sam quilt.

Cake mixes like everything else anymore have shrunk in size and ingredients. Does the cake still turn out with today’s skimpy mixes? Sounds wonderful!

What a fun day! Jenny looks adorable in that dress and hat. And the cake! Yum! I’ll have to try it soon. So glad the Uncle Sam finally turned up! I can just imagine Connie’s reaction when she found it, haha! Jan in MA

Janice – yes, Jenny looks cute in that dressing gown – can you believe she’s 35 years old?

How fun that your lost quilt was at Connie’s house all along! I’m so happy the blog has brought you both out of ‘retirement’!

How funny that Connie had the quilt! I’m glad you have it back now. Jenny looks great in that dress – I love the pockets on it. And that cake sounds like one my husband would love. I will have to try it.

Your post reminds me… the house picture on the mantel. I have that one and it’s companion picture. I’ve had them since I was a kid. I need to paint the frames and get them on my hallway wall. Thanks for the reminder! Love the vintage clothing!

For those who are concerned about raw egg whites or yolks, you can buy pasteurized egg whites or yolks at the store, or do it yourself at home. Check online for how to do it.

Interesting cake mix modification, using a white cake mix and chocolate pudding mix.

Glad Connie found your Uncle Sam’s quilt. That was a happy day. I always say when something is misplaced –it can be anywhere.

Hi Mary. Glad your Sam quilt showed up….even if it was found at Connie s.
I always tell people they don’t have to worry about getting anything from my fresh eggs except nutrition. An old farmer, who grew up in Oklahoma, told me there is never a worry about your home grown fresh eggs. Give the hens plenty of room to roam and just wash the eggs before using. For the past 45 years, I’ve never had a problem with raw cookie dough or any raw use of my eggs. My farmer friend passed away 16 years ago at the age of 98. He had just finished plowing a field and walked around the tractor. It was on a slope and the tractor rolled just enough to pin him under it. It was a very hot So. CA day in July and he was there all day. Loved that old guy but I will get to see him again…..he was a strong Christian. Have a good day.

Glad the quilt has been found. Will try the cake.
Not all of us can download and make a copy of a pattern.
