My friend, Angela, was getting rid of this nice chair and ottoman and I was glad to put it in my living room. All three dogs wanted to try it out at the same time.

I read a quote recently, “if you want the best seat in the house, it’s the one the cat is sitting on”. In your case Mary, the dogs. Cheers

Love the jokes! Thanks.
I’m seeing if I can post a comment as I’ve had issues trying.
Wonderful pictures as always!
Kathy – I’ve been meaning to ask everybody if their post is coming as normal because several readers say it’s not – Becky only gets in in her trash! Haha!!!!
Mines coming okay but I’m not able to post a comment once I go to the internet. I type my comment and then it sends me to a page that says it’s checking my connection to make sure I’m a human! Gotta love it but I won’t give up. I type it a couple times and hope it finally goes.
My first quilt was the green gingham checkerboard quilt. I made it for my first daughter after her sister received an appliqué quilt in the same colors. It’s a twin quilt , with a Winnie the Pooh sheet for backing. It’s at my house right now to be mended. ( afraid it’s too thin) my grandson had it on his bed growing up. Now he’s going to be a father. My first great-grandson is due this month.
Some of these ladies were very ambitious for their first quilt. Beautiful quilts.
Love your new chair. Funny how everyone wants to claim it.
I always love to look at quilts.
Another great post today. I have some info for those of us that have a hard time when we need to get an IV. Yesterday I had a colonoscopy (all good news). I mentioned that I was very stressed about getting an IV My veins are super hard to find.
They brought in an ultrasound machine. It was so easy. One try, they found a vein. Today there is no bruise and I can’t even see where the needle went in. The nurse said if you have red hair or strawberry blonde hair you will likely have this problem. This is info only. Please talk this option over with your doctor. Perhaps this could be an option for you
Have a great weekend everyone.
My first quilt looked nothing like what is pictured here. It was a disaster. Had no inkling how to make a quilt. It went to the garbage many many years ago. Karla your quilt is exquisite. What pattern did you use? What size is it?
Hi Jean~Thank you for your kind comments.
The pattern is called Big Sky Star. I saw the quilt in a “look book” by Art Gallery Fabrics, and loved it at first sight, so tried my best to duplicate the look. I did use the suggested Art Gallery fabrics, but used some of my stash with it.
Forgot to add that it’s king size. 5he pattern is 84″x84″..I added leftover fabric for borders to make it fit our king size bed.
Thank you Karla for the info!
Great pictures. Love the dogs all trying to pile into the chair at once. I loved seeing the Jen Kingwell quilt. I have had her Steam Punk pattern on my mind for a long time. My first quilt was a Dresden Plate. I made it in the mid 70’s and used cardboard as my template. The circle formed in the middle ended up different diameters. It never occurred to me to cover them with a fabric circle. My mom hand quilted it for me and I love it with all of my piecing flaws and all! Her hand quilting is beautiful.
Lucky dogs with the chair!
Karla T. your quilt is outstanding. Lots of very nice quilts this morning.
I am home from retreat. Sewing stuff in the house but not down the stairs yet. I can’t wait to put stuff away and dig into sewing. But outside cleaning up needs to be done. temps are still warm but we have rain this morning. in SW Iowa.
Love seeing the first quilts. The dog fight is funny! Really like that Jen Kingwell design. Worked outside yesterday planting gift plants from a friend. Planted over 70 different things. It was a beautiful day here in Michigan and was relaxing and fun to be one with nature.
Diane – holy cow! 70+ plantings? Which means digging 70+ holes? I couldn’t do it. Wow!!! You go, Girl!
Mary, I thought the same thing. 70 plus holes and plants!
Glad you enjoyed it, Diane.
Whether expertly sewn or not, the quilts have provided warmth and love.
Has anyone read Hiding Places by Corrie Ten Boom? The faith in that book will take your breath away.
Lynn – yes, I read it years ago and you’re right
Love the chair “fight!” It’s so fun to see the dogs antics 😁 my dog absolutely goes bonkers when a box from Amazon arrives – he spins in circles and the sniffs are soooo exciting 🤣🐾🐶
So enjoying seeing the first quilts – I remember mine. I was blissfully unaware of all the do’s and don’ts of quilting. I made it with Onasburg (ravels terribly) and still have it today. My stipes didn’t match and it faded terribly but I had so much fun!
Mary, love the new to you chair. Not sure which one of you will actually get to use it. HA! We have all come a long way from the first quilts we made. So many fabrics to choose from now. Not buying much because I already have a stash to choose from.
Spent most of last week helping my sister get ready to take their house boat out for the season. Got it all done on Wednesday before the rain started in East Dubuque. Yesterday I cut the rest of the peppers and chopped to put in the freezer. Next will be finishing up outside before it gets too cold. The black walnuts and leaves need to fall.
Thanks to the readers and Mary for the blog.
I love the dogs fighting over the new chair; it reminds me of my young-adult years with three little boys. 🤪
The cooler weather has been divine! I love needing an occasional sweatshirt but still wearing shorts.
Take Care, Mary 🥰
Something new & everyone wants it. The cats will take over though. Love your funny. It’s supposed to be 30 in the Four Corners the next few nights. At least it will be sunny during the day after the flooding last weekend.
