A Few Details, 9-13-21

I never did tell you about the music at the funeral last week. While people were arriving a CD of The Music Man played – Ken was quite the music man himself. With 5 minutes left before the service started I played “I’ll Fly Away” and “When We All Get To Heaven”. The family requested happy upbeat music and I was pleased I could find music they approved of. There weren’t as many people there as was expected but it was a lovely service. The music went fine but I missed Margaret.

Reader quilts:

Send me photos of your quilts to post on the blog! We all love the quilt show, don’t we?

Brenda Ks – you did? Thank you! As soon as Margaret has recovered we’re going to record a cd / so many people have asked for it so we’re finally going to do it!

You could listen to it? Did I miss something? Wish I could have done that too.
I love, Love, LOVE today’s fall quilt show. And, Karen, yours is wonderful. You are good at applique.
I am working on a baby quilt for a friend and neighbor who has a small goat farm. I found a cute pre-printed block of a goat for the center. Can’t wait to finish it. I will post it here before I give it to her.

Another beautiful quilt show! I really look forward to seeing what everyone is making. I always loved “Show and Tell” and your blog.

  3. Carla

Ooh, a CD???!!! Do you like “Oh, the deep, deep love of Jesus?”…. that may have been a suggestion/ hint! Bwahaha!!!!

  4. Jean

I can’t wait for the CD!!!
I too want to copy the white pumpkin. In fact I’m gonna do it today as I’m working on a Halloween quilt! Thanks to whomever made that great pumpkin!

  5. Cinders

I loved the quilt show today as well! Looking forward to a CD as well! The morning’s are cooler here now, and we had rain yesterday afternoon and evening. I am hoping our lawn comes back, it is still very brown yet from the drought and water ban.

I told my kids a few years ago they can play at my funeral that music ” Now I have had the time of my life “ that Patrick Swayze danced to at the end of the movie Dirty Dancing! It won’t happen though in my church with myself being a deacon. Ha!
Mary you have given so many of us a breathe of fresh air during a pandemic by allowing readers to share their creations with everyone else. It helps us cope with all we have gone through and provided some of us that are not going out and about with shopping and attending shows. It’s wonderful seeing the quilts today! I loved most seeing the smiling child under a quilt. Such comfort.

Hi Mary, wish we could give you as much joy as you give us through your news! So enjoy the pictures of what others are making and your farm life! Glad everything went well with the funeral. Has to be hard to play music when you are grieving yourself. Take care.

Thanks for sharing the quilt show, Mary.

I was just going to mention, or ask, that first quilt with the sunflowers, is that a Primitive Gatherings pattern from years ago?

  8. Lorraine

Glad the music went well. Love the quilt show and really enjoy seeing other peoples creativity. Keep the quilt show coming.

The pattern is Sunflower Meadow Quilt from Backyard Quilts. It was really fun to do, am glad you liked it.

  9. Sue Kruckenberg

FOUND THE SUNFLOWER QUILT PATTERN!!! It is a Primitive Gathering pattern. It’s called Sunflower Meadow!

Yay Sue! Thank you, such a cute pattern. Loved the quilt show today, and so glad to hear the music went well. I love the idea of “celebrating one’s life” instead of a sad, gloomy gathering. I’ll have to mention that to my family! The weather has been gorgeous here in MA. Cool temperatures and sunny days. Love it. I’ve been going to physical therapy for a few weeks and had a cortisone shot the other day in my right knee. Feels better and I’m hoping to be able to walk more now – especially since my bone density test came back showing that I have osteoporosis in one hip and osteopenia in the other and on top of that my Vitamin D level is borderline low. No more sitting around! I’ve got to get moving! My dr wants to talk to me about the results and I’m sure she’s going to want me to go on one of those medications but I really don’t want to go that route! My sister was on Fosomax and developed brittle bones – don’t want that! So weight bearing exercise is how I hope to improve things. Anyone have any advice? Jan in MA

Of course, the music went well; you were playing from the heart. 🙂 I love the quilt show, too. Carla from Michigan–yours with the little child or grandchild (?) is adorable. It reminded me of when our youngest grandson received his Christmas quilt, he kissed it! He’s 6’5″ now and still sleeps under it every December. Another hot day today, then “cooling” to mid 80’s. Too hot for September.
