A Hot Day, 6-9-26

Yup, our first pretty hot day but there was a good breeze from the south. Angela helped me with a project in the barn to let the breeze get through on these warm nights. We put hinges on this piece of plywood so I could raise it during the summer months.

My chickens and goats are so lucky!

Look at this fluffy girl!!

Here’s the quilt and patriotic decorating show:

I think this is our contribution to Jan’s Girl Gang quilt – ?

And here’s mine:

And from the game last night with 1.7 seconds to go :

Loved the show today, red, white, blue and MOO! The cow made me giggle, I love it. Uncle Sam on the bike … love it! I enjoy seeing you goats and chickens, dog and cats, and visiting pets.
We are in for severe weather in Western New York, it’s expected that thousands will be without electricity as high winds and heavy rain take down trees and power lines. I’m grateful for our generator!

Enjoying all the patriotic quilts, displays, animals and beautiful flowering scenery. The embroidery on the red and white pillow is special too. You ladies are very talented. I like The Uncle Sam on the bike quilt block which is framed and am wondering if the pattern is still available. I think this is the patriotic block I would like to try for 2026. I know Mary you probably offered this pattern before but guess it got my itching to stitch notion today. Thanks for keeping the posts going. We are watching the Fever here too. Fun, The other night I could hear you screaming on that winning shot cause I was screaming too.

    Mary,
Hi, what a wonderful group of quilts today! I especially enjoyed the quilt in the azalea bushes. Adding the flying geese makes that pattern even more special. And Snoopy is very wise I would say.
I love those goats and funny how the cat can project emotions without a word!
Going’s to be very hot here today. Heat index over 100*. Way too hot for me. I actually went in my sewing room yesterday and made a pillow case. After a quick run to Costco, I’m going to sew again! I ordered the novelty quilt pattern and have some stash fabric perfect for it. I might get the fabric out and press it so it’s ready for cuttIng as soon as I get the measurements. I’ve had the fabric for YEARS and have always loved it but never felt I had the right pattern. Thanks for the inspiration.
Have a great day everyone! 🌻

Mary , love all the pictures you put on your blog. I’m a cow lover and the picture of the cow with the bow on it head. I’m curious if there would be any way I could correspond
with her to find out where she got the pattern. It was Diane from Colorado. I know this is a request which you might not want to do, but if it possible I would love it.
Thank you, Nancy Foland, Shelbyville, Ky

Nancy, that is the Americana Cow from Embroidery Library. Looks like a fun one to do. Hope this helps.

Nancy – did you see that two readers answered in their comment – I don’t mind at all when somebody else can provide the answer!

Hello! Beautiful quilts! Your chickens and goats are so spoiled!
They had us in a tornado watch until 3 am this morning. No rain. But, thankfully no bad storms.
Hip surgery class today in SF.
The grandkids were here. Jayden likes my iPad for games….and more games! Megan made a card and then I had her pick out her quilt from the stash. She’s the girl with pigtails in today’s post. She was so happy I had one to match her bedroom! We went for a ride with the gatter and Megan drove. She will be 14 on her next birthday. Burgers for supper and baked beans and watermelon! Jay did a superb job in the burgers! They were a hit!
Thanks Mary did all your blogs. Sorry I couldn’t get my name on my picture but I was trying to do it on my phone and it just did not want to work. 🥵. Have a good one

What an armchair story to view here this morning! Delightful. I wish all my reading material for the day could be this beautiful.

Great post Mary! You have certainly shared MANY beautiful Patriotic quilts. I agree, keep them coming. Hooray for the red, white and blue!!!

  8. Sharon Ray

That basket quilt is in Homestead Hearth. It’s on my very long list of quilts I want to make!

  9. Jeanie S, Central IL

This is a great post with beauty, talent and patriotism. I especially love the cow with the patriotic headgear.

Great photos tonight. Thanks Mary for all yo do.
My wonderful neighbors came over last night and after dinner he checked out the sprinklers. No wonder my grass needed help. Some zones were only on for 1 minute!!! I’m so thankful he takes charge of those mechanical systems.
The weatherman just forecasted high winds and dry. Great. Maybe it will blow down some of these politicians signs. I’m tired of seeing them.

Jo – I am so sick of the online discussion, too. Sometimes I read them and it just supports my decision to hate politics!! We’re having wind, too, with storms in our forecast. I have not turned on my sprinklers yet but I think today is the day. That means my bird seed gets wet so I’ve avoided it.

This was a great post-love that window and all of the quilts. I totally forgot about the game but it was recorded and added to my library so was able to watch it last night. What a way to end the game! 👏👏

Cindy – she did this once in college, too, and it makes for a thriller!!

  12. Judy AZ also

What a great shot of the ball players and the happy looks on the spectators faces! I finally had to find out who and where the team is that you watch and root for – pretty fun to be a fan and team follower. I also loved kitty-cats’ face and side-ways, barely tolerant ears! Thanks for the quilts, and ALL Mary.

Judy in AZ – Caitlyn went to the University of Iowa so as an Iowan who loves basketball I’ve been watching her for years and I am a big fan as you can tell. She plays for the Indiana Fever. Next game is Thursday at 6 pm shown on Prime.
