I made it! 6-8-26

My heart didn’t give out during the last quarter of the Fever game but I think it actually might have stopped when Caitlyn hit that Logo Three!!!! After missing two simple free throws she needed to make that shot! I was watching in the porch screaming and texting with Becky and Sherri – I think they heard me scream in Garner.

EXPLANATION: when I started out I was intending to frame each print in a different color and then as I continued it just didn’t look right so I framed each in white. Now if I were to draft this again, those sashings could be one wider piece and this would look a whole lot different. You choose but I knew you’d wonder why I did it this way – just a glitch. Ever have that happen?????

At my east door
Saw this online – don’t know whose it is but what a great scrap quilt! Have I posted this before? So many possibilities here.

I have more patriotic vignettes – do you? Send me a picture! I’ve got a really great one for tomorrow.

The goats’ livingroom made me laugh. Your patriotic vignette is beautiful in its simplicity.

Anne – yes, that is correct. I don’t know why they’re being rejected

Anne, I had this happen once. On my laptop I think I signed on to Chrome instead of Firefox and tried again. I never did figure out what was off about the maryehazel2020@gmail.com address. No typographical errors as far as I could tell.

Last night I opened my box of patriotic fabrics to select what I want to use to make from one of your patterns, Mary. It’s called Warm Welcome #216. I have a dear friend retiring after 47 yrs & we’ve been invited to Grand Rapids, MI for the celebration. She loves my quilts & this is something she will enjoy since we’re celebrating our country’s 250th! I believe I bought this pattern at your booth when you were at the Cinti show yrs ago. I know I’ve had it for quite a while & loved it! Loving all the pictures of those precious goats & Mortie! I think Annie is right about the quilt being one of Bonnie Hunter’s leader & ender projects. We did get a small shower last night, but still in need of rain. I’m watering flowers daily now. Many years ago we took a couple of trips to New England & loved Cape Cod. At that time there were a couple of really nice quilt shops there. I was just starting my quilting journey then! Have a great week everyone!

Great pics lately Mary! I just love your blog about nothing. The little goat curled up on the sofa today and the picture of Mortie and the goat yesterday just melt my heart. You can just see how happy they are and how well they are loved and cared for by you. You have such a wonderful little menagerie at Country Threads. Loving all the patriotic eye candy as well.

Weather here is beautiful right now. We are heading into our busy tourist season on Cape Cod. I am determined to be out and about enjoying it instead of trying to avoid the crowds of people as is sometimes what happens. So much beauty here. When I need an escape – the quilting room awaits! Thanks for all the inspiration Mary (and readers!).

Wendy – Cape Cod! Sounds idyllic to me. Tourist season is a double edged sword, isn’t it? Yes, the menagerie here is very loved and I’d have more if I were younger – ha!

Warm and breezy already! 90* +
Poor Agnes needs an air conditioner…hers quit! One is on the way but thankfully she has fans. When she feels like it’s really hot, she gets an ice pack! Smart lady! It should be in by the weekend….she thinks!
Kids will be here in a bit.
We will have burgers for supper and Jay will grill them. Baked beans from Bush’s and tater tots in the air fryer. Not sure what we will have for lunch.
Last night we tried an oriental chicken and beans dish from Costco. It was so terrible salty! The flavor was great but the salt ruined it. Won’t buy it again.

Joy – is your closest Costco in Sioux Falls? Mine is ankeny but since it’s just the two of us it doesn’t really pay to buy in bulk – it gets old before I get it used. Your menu sounds perfect – right up my alley- poor Agnes!

My sister visited a neighbor daughter who has goats and they are in a pin. She takes her little dog and that dog tries bossing those goats. The next visit the goats did not get close to that little dog for the dog to try to tell them where to go. That dog got caked with mud. My sister was amused.

Dee – haha! Sounds like Hazel! Or even Hank who would love to play with Dottie and Sarah but they’re too little yet.

Such an exciting win last night!
Mary, your panel quilt is so adorable. You find the best panels to quilt.
Very humid and hot again today. It feels more like August already! Not much sewing time lately. Lots of appointments. Take care everyone!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Teresa – I’ve had that panel for quite awhile and wanted to hang it in the porch but it was too big

  6. Lynette in Orlando

Well Mary – thanks for the laugh this morning! That’s how I am when I watch college football!!! I’m sure the neighbors hear me screaming……

the goats couldn’t be any cuter. You get the best photos of them — they would make a cute calendar (either Shutterfly or Snapfish although there’s probably more places. those are just the two I know of)

Rachel LaBour has a very similar quilt to the one in the photo. It was part of her blog in May. I think if you look back at it she gives dimensions — let me know I can probably find it and email it to you. I do love the ones you just finished….. so simple and so cute.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Lynette – thanks for the offer – I can draft it in my head, I think. It’s very very simple but the fabric is what puts it over the top and I have fabric!!!! Yes, every time I woke up in the night I remembered Caitlyn’s shot! Pure beauty!

  7. Jeanie S, Central IL

Dottie looks so cute all snuggled down in the straw on her sofa.
We had rain several times today for which we are grateful; actually, this morning was quite a thunderstorm.

  8. Annie

That quilt you asked about looks like Bonnie Hunters 2014 Leader and Ender ‘Lozenges’ project.

    1. Ginger S in New Hampshire

Annie, I was just going to mention Bonnie Hunter’s lozenger quilt too. I made one this winter that was all cream country neutrals with Cheddar ad Black corners. Something a little different for fall. I made my rectangle a little longer that Bonnie suggests. I is a great scrap buster!

      1. Mary Etherington Post author

Ginger – send me a picture – I would love creams, cheddar and black!

  9. Sandy McPherson

Hi Mary, those goats are living in luxury! Sofa, chair, coffee table! All they need is a wide screen tv! Haven’t seen that scrap quilt before, great use of fabric with the red and white triangles. Rainy, windy wellington today, heater on. Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
