Where can you go that’s easier than your favorite chair to see such great quilts? Chicken Scratch Blog, that’s where! I agree with everyone who says there’s an awful lot of talent in this group. And you didn’t have to drive to a quilt show across 4 counties or several states to see it.

After these recent displays of patriotic quilts, I have so many in my head I want to make. I propose we don’t forget patriotic themed quilts even after the July 4 anniversary date passes.

And don’t forget Flag Day, June 14! Another opportunity for patriotic quilts on the blog!
Good Night or Good Morning!

Yes Mary, all these patriotic quilts make me want to make another. BUT, what about all the other ‘want to make’ ones in the queue already! Real world problem right there! I’ll just keep enjoying all of them and plug away on mine! Thanks everyone!
Keep the Patriotic quilts coming! I agree with other comments regarding the entire year is the 250th anniversary – all the challenges before the Fourth of July, as well as, all that came after. Today’s Honor Flight quilts remind me that those I make for Honor Flight don’t have to be huge. Thank you!
I’m with Elliott, that dinosaur with it’s quilt made me smile. The design and colors matched the dinosaur well. The log cabin quilt picture right after that one was creative, too, with a home hearth cozy feel. Log cabins are always a favorite block for me. 🙂
Love the old fashioned clothes pin/fabrics butterfly. Is there a specific pattern for that? Please share. It would be a perfect gift idea someone who likes butterflies.
Have a productive week all. 🙂
Jan – I believe the butterfly is vintage/antique but would be pretty easy to replicate. I’m
Assigning that project to YOU!!! 😊
Another great show! I am so glad our blog of women is helping to celebrate this great nations 250th birthday with beautiful patriotic quilts. Thanks to Mary, we have a way to show our love for her. Patriotism has always sent shivers up my spine and tears to my eyes and I know I am not alone.
It is raining here this morning and my computer says we will get an inch today. Keep on comin’, rain. We really need you. I don’t recall such a dry spring, ever! Good sewing weather, though, After I hull all the strawberries I picked yesterday. Have a great week, everyone.
Another bonus of the quilt show on the Chicken Scratch blog is the dogs and cats posing with the quilts!
It is a treasure to sit at my computer and view the wonderful quilts your readers send. Indeed, a talented audience. I love, love the photo of Mortie. Such a wonderful cat facial expression.
Amen, Brenda!! We live in the greatest country in the world and should be proud!
Grands have VBS this week. Elliott LOVED the dinosaur with the quilt!
My church group is making a quilt of valor so made 3 blocks for that yesterday.
Looks like hot, steamy, stormy weather this week. Perfect for staying in to sew!
My plan today is to wash my Mom’s windows. I had planned to do it for Mothers day and it was sooo busy, so will try to do it this afternoon amongst the threatening rain showers. My granddaughter will do the inside while I do the outside of the windows. I really didn’t worry too much about getting the windows done, it’s not like someone else is going to rush in and do them! And my windows will get done AFTER hers!
Lori – my shoulders hurt just thinking about washing windows!
Love all the quilts! Yes, so much talent. Martin has great talent too! So cute!
We had some scattered showers come through yesterday evening. Got about .4 which was very welcome!
Joy – I’m not sure we got even that much but a bit – are you hanging in there?
Mary, how far are you from Osage Iowa? They had four inches! That’s the worst … to be jealous of someone’s rainfall!
Had my pre op today. I have some. Bloodwork To do tomorrow and that’s it.
Trying to stay comfortable …somewhat..to be honest. It was a hot steamy day today.
I’m sorry you didn’t get .4. It helps everything so much. Those tiny soybeans just got so bushy in the old corn stalks. So cute. The corn is such a pretty color and wow it really shot up too! Love it.
A couple grandkids are coming tomorrow. He will want to hang out with the iPad and she is going to make cards. So fun. Daddy will be here for supper with us, I think. He probably wants to do a farm check anyway,
Joy – a friend of Rick’s between Woden and Titonka also got 4” – wow! Heavy rain around DesMoines and north of us – nothing here to speak of. I’m about an hour from Osage. With the kids coming and pretty warm you can stay in! Guess you’ll have to fix supper tho, won’t you?
Mortie and Dot! Just adorable!
I love seeing Patriotic quilts! Keep Posting!
Beautiful quilts! I love seeing Patriotic quilts!
I agree that we need to celebrate our country’s 250th all year long. (My list of patriotic quilts to finish and to make, may take that long.)
Much needed rain expected this week. Fingers crossed it doesn’t pass us by. I still need to finish planting the tomatoes as well as flowers but, am waiting for rain. The lawns are looking like late August instead of early June. It’s cloudy and dark outside now so, maybe raining soon.
I’ve been doing some cleaning and purging the last couple weeks to get ready for company in a too small house. I need to continue after my company leaves now that I’m on a roll.
Connie – I should purge as well but the only person that’s in my house is Hank’s mom and she knows how I am! Haha!
One bonus was I found stuff I didn’t know I had!!
Just beautiful!!! That is the best picture of Mortie! ❤️ So reminds me of a cat I once had – my favorite one. Orange also, named Gus. He was a snuggle bunny.
Have a great week everyone — happy sewing!
Hi Mary, the poor dog in the first photo looks worn out after helping Mum make the quilt! Glad to see morty is making friends with the goat!Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
I so agree about extending the patriotic entries well past the 4th. It is the entire anniversary year. Easy to know
about the challenges that were overcome well after the Declaration date. It seems to be passe to feel great about our country (warts and all) We love it and know a long list of ancestors and present day folks who contributed to our Freedom..
God Bless the USA !!!!!
