They are all wonderful, but I especially love that schoolhouse quilt!!!!!! A gorgeous array Mary!

I agree young chickens eat a lot! One of my Henriettas died last week when I was away at my daughter’s house. My husband and son kept me informed and it was very sad. I now have 10 “old” chickens and 8 “young” chickens.
Such gorgeous quilts! Each one more exquisite than the next! Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely week, everyone! 🌻

I have one old hen that’s on her last leg – every day I think I’ll find her dead.

Lovely, lovely quilts! What a lot of love and talent displayed in one place. Thank you, Mary, for getting them altogether and online so early on a Sunday morning. And two cute little goats… what could be better than cute little goats and beautiful quilts to start the day. 🥰

Wonderful quilts today. Loved the quilt wall and quote. Went on a house and garden tour today. None of the old houses had any quilts on display. Too posh for themselves I guess. The gardens were beautiful. I couldn’t help wondering how much time they must have spent weeding, deadheading and pruning, though most of them had large lawns and flowers only around the edges. One of them had a huge Mobus magnolia tree which had large limbs that seemed to have rooted around it sort of like a banyan tree. I’d never seen anything like it. That house also had one chicken in the backyard to entertain the visitors. Nice way to spend the day in any event.

Karen – sounds wonderful but no quilts? And how does someone have just one chicken?
Kim from WI
What wonderful quilts, I love how the yellow really pops on the red, white & blue star quilt. The goats are super cute. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

This is a great way to start Sunday morning with a wonderful quilt show. I too love the house quilt. They are all so inspiring though. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone. Thank you Mary for the work it takes for you to post these pictures. It is so appreciated by all.
Mary I wonder if you saw the email I sent you of our two barn cats in the grape arbour?
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Teresa – I did see the cats on the arbor – what a great place to play – as if you built it just for them!! Is Hammie in or out?
Teresa from Maple Ridge, BC
Hammie has been in her barn because we’ve had rain off and on for about three days. She was really dirty so couldn’t spend another night in the house. She enjoys being inside but also loves being outside, being a free range pig as we call her. She’s quite entertaining and loves tanning too.

Teresa – I love it! A free range pig!!! Haha!

Beautiful quilts and happy goats! The man quote so funny!!!
Brenda Furlong
Such a beautiful show. I love all the quilts. The quilt wall was great and the quote about not reminding him about fixing things reminded me of my husband and my brother. Too funny! The goats are so precious! Thanks so much for brightening our days!

Lovely quilts

Oh, My! Those lovely red, white and blue quilts. They are all gorgeous. But, the sunflowers growing in a grow bag quilt is very special, too. IS there a pattern name for that one?
Happy Sunday to everyone. What a great start to our day.
Kim from WI
Sue, I believe that pattern is called: Blooming Basket Quilt Pattern by The Quilt Patch.
Sue Smith
Thank you, Kim. I will hunt for it.

What a great quilt show! I’m always drawn to the red, white & blue quilts. Put a new needle in my machine & a new blade in my rotary cutter. Now I’m ready to sew. Spending more time outside these days. The squirrels like to pull my plants out of the pots. If I find the plants soon enough they’re ok, so I try to check on them daily. Then they need water, then I pull a few weeds – no wonder I don’t get any sewing done. Stopped at Missouri Star Quilt Co in Hamilton, MO. Their entire downtown is all about quilting. My favorite purchase that day was a rotating cutting mat. Haven’t used it yet. Waiting for a rainy day. Happy quilting my friends!

Sue – here are a couple things I’ve done to deter the squirrels – moth balls sprinkled around, dinner forks handle down in the dirt, zest or Irish spring soap – they’ve all worked to a certain degree. There’s also a dry product you sprinkle on the dirt – found online. I’d give them a try.
Sue in MN
Thanks for those tips Mary. I’ve tried some of the sprays & granules. The fork idea sounds crazy enough to work. I think the squirrels like the fresh dirt. Yesterday I saw one digging up a perennial I had just planted. Then 2 of them ran up a young tree. The tree could hardly stand the weight of the 2 squirrels. Lol

Sue – they are rascals, for sure. I bought a bunch of old forks at the thrift store – reuseable!!
Diane Bauer

I love house quilts! To the maker of the house quilt… what is the name of the pattern?
Kim from WI
Sheryl, I believe it is by Laundry Basket Quilts and it’s called Homestead Pattern.
Marie & Kirby from So. Cal.
Hi Ladies, YES, it is Laundry Basket Quilts pattern, however when I joined my mini group, many many years ago, each member made me a block of my choice and I chose a house block. So each of the houses was made for me and has their signature on it. I then added the lovely appliqué columns from the pattern. It is a wonderful keepsake and sparks many happy memories!

It’s a beautiful keepsake.

All of the quilts made for a lovely morning wake-up! I admit, in always drawn to house quilts and today’s version is so pretty, I’d have that hanging in a special spot in my house. Enjoy the beauty of the day, everyone!
