Day started with a trip to the farm store to get chicken feed – those chicks are not full grown by any means but they can really eat!
Then we moved the hay rack back in the corner for Hayrack Hen – the goats didn’t bother with it so we gave them the picnic table instead.
The rest of the afternoon was mowing – I won’t have to mow this weekend!! Ballgames to watch tonight.

No quilts.🙁
I worked on positioning this small bouquet of peonies and now I like it well enough to frame it.

Think about all the textures here – hard rounded rocks, sharp metal edges, straight edge porous wood, transparent glass and those soft ruffled edges of the peonies. I love it!
Have a wonderful weekend if I don’t talk to you till Monday!

We finally got some rain here in central Wisconsin, the weather man has been predicting it for 3 days. We had high winds, so naturally it took some petals off my flowers and downed some tree limbs. We needed it. The Wisc shop hop started here so I took a friend, and we hit 3 stores in our area and of course we stimulated the economy. I love the State Fair theme this year, but I fear the shops are not selling much of the fabric line. I hope to get some quilting done once I clean up my space.
Lots of something about nothing. Love this blog Mary and everyone that adds to it. Went for a mile walk this morning. Came back and made two loaves of banana bread and put in the freezer. Then went outside and pulled weeds from the flower beds and deadheaded the irises. Was getting too warm w/o any breeze and bugs were getting nasty. Time to go in and shower. Will be watching the Fever game tonight.
Always love your pictures, and this arrangement with peonies d miscellaneous natural stuff is wonderful! Don’t work too hard!!
Chris – thank you! Sometimes my favorite photos are somewhat of an accident – this is one of them that I really like!
We were finally getting the board and batten done in our bedroom last week and that is the last renovation we are doing and other than painting one more bedroom. I won’t paint that room till they have their own home on the property as my son in law uses it as his home office. It will then become our spare bedroom and the queen sized bed will come out of my sewing room. That will be exciting as I can spread out a little more. We won’t start the renovations downstairs until the end of August. We are hosting a small wedding here and don’t want to be renovating. Downstairs we will replace all the flooring, there are three different floors – tiles, laminate and vinyl tile. It will all be one flooring – laminate – the same as what we have upstairs and then of course we will repaint. I look forward to the break and will have the time to sew and garden.
Day of errands for me yesterday and then a baseball game for my grandson. I did manage to sew a little bit. We are finally having some warm weather and it is nice!
It was extremely stormy here last night. Yes, the lightening was horrendous! And the wind was terrific too! 1″ of rain. Neighbor lost a big tree limb and another lost a small tree. All I could see for damage from my windows this morning. Maybe I will see more if I go out for a walk.
I am in retreat mode. Been cutting on a new project. More to go today. I am making cookies for a snack also. I bought geraniums yesterday so need to put in big pots today.
54 years ago today we bought the farm we live on. Where did all those years go. Good memories.
We went to Sioux Falls yesterday for the eye doc for Jay. A shot in each eye. Ugh. No severe pain this time.
Didn’t do any shopping and no out to eat….just gas at Costco…man was it busy at the pumps. Was good to get back home in my chair.
We haven’t gotten any rain since Sunday. One of my geraniums that I saved is not a good green…pale. What should I feed it?
Joy – I use a weak solution of Miracle Grow every time I water my geraniums. Otherwise they get long and leggy and yes, pale green. Good you didn’t shop with your pain – go home and put your feet up. And once again I can’t imagine a shot in my eye!!!
Mary, this is how I water my geraniums, too & they’re beautiful! I can’t imagine shots in my eyes either, but will have to say it has stabilized the macular in Ron’s eyes & he passed his driver’s license eye test! They asked him if he wanted a 4 or 8 yr driver’s license! He said he’d be happy with 4 yrs, in 8 yrs he’d be 101 & probably wouldn’t be here or driving!! I love his sense of humor!😊
No rain last night, but what a lightening show! The weather guys on TV were covering the storms south of here and couldn’t stop talking about the lightning!
We have Elliot’s ball game this morning, then Leah’s recital later in the morning and I’m so glad it’s not raining!
I cleaned my sewing room last weekend, so I may get to sew this week. Forecasters are calling for hot, hot, hot in the 90’s. Vacation bible school for the kids, then maybe swimming.
Stay cool, stay in and sew!
Hi Mary, curious about those round things, look like bagels! Rainy 24 hours ,fortunately my sump is working well, no wet carpet, hooray! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
