Originally this quilt was called Citrus Splash

Last winter I used a Flower Farm charm pack with a pieced border to make this simple quilt.

I used the neutral charms for a runner.

Here’s the square quilt hung flat.

I haven’t written up the pattern but I can if you’re interested. It will be pretty informal but it’s an easy quilt.
Becky stopped for a quick visit today and was nearly bombarded by dogs.

We checked out the wilderness trail – no passage since the blizzard!

Several readers commented on our cold temperatures but that’s just not the case. Even today it was 40 degrees and a few days ago it was almost 60. The snow just makes you assume it’s cold. We have standing water and puddles everywhere resulting in mud.
I got this great card from Teresa – her friendly, cuddly hen named Ellen. I have had some of these “bad hair day” chickens in the past – they were very calm and sweet.

And look what Debbie sent me – thimble pads!

And here’s the clarification about the ads that produce earnings. They will not appear on the blog post that arrives by email. You need to click on “Read On Blog” to get to the online version that will have the pertinent ads. And thanks again!
I have not heard from Patti.🙁

I’m love the Citrus Squares quilt and runner. It was fun seeing Becky and Hazel.
We had more great sunshine today (Sunday).
Thanks, Mary 🥰
Would love to have a pattern for your quilt, I like the simplicity of it is convenient for you!
I would love to have the pattern for the citrus squares quilt!! Weather here (in south western KY) was beautiful this weekend, a little chilly (highs Saturday in upper 40’s, Sunday low 50’s) but beautiful blue sky & sun!! Spent most of the weekend at the baseball field, one of my grandsons was playing in a tournament!
Sometimes I exit out of the blog and come back in just to delete the ads a second time.
Mary glad you got the card and so happy you liked it. I just wanted to send you a card when you were suffering with that cough and I was hoping to pick you up! Yes Ellen was a sweetie. If we ever buy acreage I will get chickens again and definitely more of these as they are so friendly.
I really like your citrus splash quilt and that colour way. I have some fabric that was made for Canadians a few years ago called true North that is cream, beige/grey and red. I used it to make two lap quilts and probably have enough for two more, lol. Maybe I could do something like yours if you would do up the pattern for us.
The rains have slowed down, I think the forecasters exaggerated a lot with this rain storm., we’ve had way worse.
Thanks for this blog, I truly look forward to reading it and all the comments. It’s like having friends all over the world. How wonderful!
Hi, I also loved your quilt. Always amazed how you make so many quilts. You never stop. Cyclone here, now heavy rain, has impacted a lot of people. Also caused havoc to our beaches, but thankfully have had power throughout. However it’s been an uneasy few days and hard to settle to do anything productive. Butl this too will pass….
Denise – how long will this storm last? When you say it destroyed the beaches, do you mean the sand washed away, is it under water? Stay safe
Beautiful quilt, so simple really. The table runner is also quite nice. Happy to see Becky with the dogs. Wished my sister’s lives close. Lucky you!
May get to have another granddaughter live close. She and her boyfriend are thinking of moving to Troy. Would be a blessing.
Younger granddaughter is going to spend the summer with me. She’s almost graduated from Kent State University.
I can’t complain. My oldest daughter hasn’t lived farther than 30 minutes away. And her husband is a Kansas City Chief’s fan as am I. Good games together.
Can’t wait for spring. Your snow does make it look cold!!!
Another beautiful quilt, the simplest designs make the most pleasing, cozy looking quilts, imo.
I’m doing my share of ad closings!
What I really like is your dough bowl/trencher with the small quilts rolled up. So very eye catching and a great way to display and enjoy them.
Beautiful colors in the Citrus Splash 2.0. Adding the half square triangle border really spices it up! The runner is great too. Our weather is approaching 50 today with sun, which is a big bonus.
Going out to look at the “stick and branch” situation and start cleaning some of them off the lawn.
I’m enjoying the dogs and all the energy they have.
Love the quilt!! I love seeing the dogs enjoying their time together. Hazel’s face is adorable.
I love the colors of that new quilt, and the pattern would be great with my squares that I have been saving up. I usually cut the left-over fabrics into squares or 2.5-inch strips and save them for something easy. I need to try a crazy strip quilt and see how many strips I could use up. We have some spring flowers poking through the ground, but I think more snow is still to come. Nice to see hazel, even with her muddy face.
Oh my, I’m crushing on your charm square quilt and runner. So pretty, soft, sweet!! I too would appreciate a pattern. What fabric is that grey floral?
I love the quilt and table runner. Please write up a pattern for them. Thank you.
Love reading your blog everyday!! I would love the pattern also!
Good morning all, I love the quilt and the colors. A pattern would be great if you can. It’s been to warm for snow but we could use rain, and a little less wind.
Quiet morning here, sunny and breezy which is how it always is out on the western edges of Minnesota. What show we did have should melt soon. We were on the edge of the snow storm, rain and wind a small amount of snow, but it was a blizzard just the same. Today I am going to start the hand stitching of the binding for a sampler quilt, then one more to do. I have just one sampler quilt to assemble and complete from classes long ago, like 20 years ago. The last one was from Crafty Corner in Worthington. I will drive there to look for the fabric for it too, I need a day away. I am aware their store is really a new store as the old location had a fire and smoke damaged all their fabrics and they moved to a new location and a few months later Zulu and Ken sold their business to wonderful new owners. Kim is still there and so is their repair technician. I am lining up projects to work on too. I must finish reading the Briar Club by Kate Quinn as well, and return it tomorrow. No robins have been spotted yet, but soon enough! Usually about the 18th they arrive! Then our skies are filled with the excitement of the wonderful robins! I think Inwill cut some black and shamrock squares and make a table runner like yours or put the squares onpoint for St Patrick’s Day, Black and green look stunning together! I loved your pattern and your projects you displayed today! Win! Win! for me!
Hmm Zulu was supposed to read Zuby and spell check changed it. Correcting it…
I’m thankful you got some snow there. You know I was worried how dry it was there and whenever you hear of the devastating fires and dry conditions, it doesn’t take long with winds to destroy. I still can’t believe Myrtle Beach SC experienced those wildfires. We vacationed there every spring for 25 years and I’m sure there will be a campfire ban in the campground we use to stay at. Good thing your snow is melting slowly. Our grass is so green and I love seeing it knowing Mother Nature dropped us some snow these last few weeks and now it’s melted into the ground.
Your quilt is stunning once again. Such good color placement you have.
Mary – citrus quilt is simple but very nice looking the colors are great together. I wouldn’t mind a pattern.
I’m doing okay. I read your blog everyday which helps me get through these difficult times. Losing so many family members and a friend has been difficult. Thank you to everyone who commented. It meant a lot to me. My sister is coping but losing her son earlier this week after losing her husband and losing our brother last year has taken a toll. She may never recover but we’re hopeful. She has a large support group of friends and family so that helps.
It was 66 degrees and sunny today. Later this week there may be some clouds and rain-snow mix. I hope to start cleaning up my backyard soon. I saw the rhubarb just coming up so I covered it with some mulch – don’t want it to get too cold.
Take care everyone.
Your quilts are beautiful as usual. Love the colors. You still have snow on the ground. In the last two snow episodes, we got very little snow and it was gone by the next day. However we did have high winds.
My daffodils and irises are coming up fast. Hopefully we don’t have freezing temperatures several days in a row. I’m getting tempted to put out my garden decorations.
DST started today – not my favorite time of the year. Hopefully my sleep pattern won’t get too messed up.
Gloria – wondering how your cat situation is working out.
Much better. Boo is finally being nice to Christmas. We’ll have to watch them closely when we put them together in the garage. Thanks for asking. Sounds like FB is doing better also.
Gloria – yes, that was my point – don’t give up. FB has been here over 2 years!! And I can finally relax when she walks in the room – she’s made great strides from feral to housecat!
Your quilts and the runner are beautiful. I’d love that pattern too. Great pictures!
I love the Citrus Squares pattern- especially the soft neutral runner. Your line quilting really adds to the simplicity. A pattern write up would be appreciated!
I saw a response from Patti yesterday I believe. She said they were having a meeting with the new owners Wednesday. But the food was no better and even the orange juice was worse! Hope this helps
That message was from Jamie in Phoenix.
By the time I check your blog in the morning, check back a couple of times for comments, then see if there’s a new post before bed, I’m sure I click on 50 ads some days, lol! I’m glad it helps you out! Your new quilt is great, and so is the neutral table runner. It seems the longer I quilt, the more I’m attracted to simple designs … just like our discussion about designs for ‘quilting’. Yours are always beautiful! Glad to see Hazel back in the picture again!
I would love the pattern, thank you. Yours is beautiful! I love the fabrics and colors of yours. Hugs,
Hi Mary,
I would like to have the pattern to the squares quilt, if you don’t mind.
Thanks.
