Mary,
So good to hear from the readers who’ve had struggles lately. Hang in there everyone, we are here to support you all.
Almost all of our snow is gone, but the lake still ice covered. It is starting to melt though. We pulled the lights and posts from around the ice rink. Think our hockey and skating are over for this winter. I’m about ready to start seed planting.
We had Biscuit most of yesterday and overnight. He was a good boy.
Have a great week everyone! 🌻
Sunflower – and you have another wedding to prepare for!!! You’ll be busy – maybe Biscuit can help
Good to hear that folks are recovering from surgery. My knee replacement was so hard, but I’m happy with the results. I just need to walk more to keep it lumbered up.
I pray for all of you going through surgery every night. God bless you all.
I hope things get better for you, jamie.
So Noah refused to eat the first prescription diet brand so I returned it to the vet and got the other brand. He wouldn’t eat that one, either. He’s extremely picky! There were two store brand foods that I would alternate and I got to thinking that the intense itching and licking started around the time I started one of the store brands. I cut that one out completely and just gave him the one he had eaten for many years and he’s slowly getting better. He still over grooms one leg, but the other areas seem to be growing some fur and his ears aren’t nearly as itchy! I think there may have been an ingredient or two in the other store brands that he had an allergy to. I’m just happy he’s getting back to his old self. Thanks for checking in.
Jessica – thank for the Noah update – Have you ever tried Gerber baby food? It’s about the only thing Heidi will eat plus some lickable treats.
After reading that you had success with baby food for Heidi, I did try it. Noah gave it a weary, slow sniff, sat down in front of me and chirped/meowed at me for a good 5 minutes. He had no interest in tasting it. He’s the only cat we’ve ever owned who absolutely turns his nose up at cooked chicken, turkey, ham, salmon, etc. The only ‘human’ food he enjoys once in a blue moon is grated Parmesan and licking the cheese flavoring off one (just one) Cheeto!
Jessica – oh my, I laughed! That Noah – pretty funny – he. Ishtar be the pickiest cat I’ve ever known but you know what they say, when he gets hungry enough, he’ll eat. I always panic before I get to that stage.
LOL – funny Noah! I thought you might get a giggle out of how I read (I guess I was speed reading) the list of food he didn’t like, the only human food he enjoys etc. What I read was ‘the only human food he likes is blue moon’ – It entered my head as he – likes Blue Moon beer. Anyway, I also want to know how in the world he stops with ONE Cheeto! Sherry
I don’t remember if I had updated or not and wouldn’t know where to start looking in the comments. I went back to surgeon on Feb. 27 and had bandage changed. New bandages that I can remove myself in 2 1/2 weeks. I got a good pathology report. Clear perimeters around breast cancer removal site and neither lymph node removed showed cancer. I return to oncologist March 17th and she will make the decision as to chemo, radiation and pills or a combination. Good movement of my arm without pain has returned. Thank you again to everyone that sent cards! Your thoughts, prayers and encouraging words have meant so much to me!
My 46 year old son had a total knee replacement on Tuesday and 3 hours later-walked out of the hospital without help! I told him that they had made big improvements since I had mine replaced-both over 20 years ago. Teresa, thinking of you and hoping for steady improvement!
Your son is doing so well! I couldn’t have walked out without assistance. Good for him. I agree with Kim ice is your friend, that is for sure. Glad to hear from others too and thank you everyone for the encouragement.
Great idea Mary.
Debbie – you have made great progress! I hope you won’t need chemo or radiation. Wow, your son walked out? There’s no way I could have walked out – did he have total knee replacement. I’ve read about some newer methods that don’t cut through the tendon and muscles. Instead they pull it to the side.i remember being in quite a lot of pain for the first few days.
Mary, they pulled my muscles and tendons to the side. I am still dealing with muscle pain. They said it would take 3-6 months to get rid of the pain. It’s been three, I’m waiting….. lol. My leg was so bowed and they were able to straighten it and that is why it will take longer for the pain to be gone. It’s is 100 percent better than it was though.
Mary, I’m glad you asked folks to check in who were having a difficult time, they are on my mind. I wonder how Jamie is doing with the new management and the food service. Hope we here from those of you who were struggling with some type of issue. We are here; we are with you. Teresa, so nice to read that you are doing better since the knee replacement and getting more sleep is helpful for sure. Keep up with the therapy and don’t forget to ice afterwards, it really makes a difference.
Hi Kim,
Thank you for asking about me. We don’t know much about the new management yet, we’re supposed to have a meeting next Wednesday to learn more about them. I can tell you though that the food has gotten worse, even the orange juice!
I’m glad your getting to meet the management, keep us posted how that goes. How can one mess up orange juice, it must be maddening to have such poor food served each day. I hope you can work something out with management, maybe invite them to eat with you all after the meeting and get a taste of what your dealing with. Hugs to you Jamie.
Thanks for asking Mary and I hope Patti is doing well.
I’m 3 months after knee replacement and it’s going well. Some days I over do it, and then a week later I try again and it’s ok doing what it did. Still working on getting that bend they want. I feel way more normal and finally I am getting about 6 hrs sleep in a row. I think truly that was the hardest. I used to go to bed around 11 and wake up at 6 or 7. I’m getting there.
I hope everyone else is recovering as well. Have a good weekend. We are bracing for what they call an atmospheric river. In other words it is going to rain unbelievably hard for at least two days so there will be flooding. We are ok where we are though.
Teresa – oh, I remember not being able to sleep after my knee replacements. Hang in there – my knees are great, they don’t hurt and I can almost run – even at age 76.
Wow, you can run. That’s encouraging for sure.
