I had a typical Friday the 13th day – at least 3 bad things happened.
Please do not send cards to Ema and please destroy her address. I did not ask her permission to post it and I should have. I thought it would be a wonderful surprise but I was wrong and I apologize. I took down the post about her at her request.
The rest of the things are minor it seems now but I thought they were major at the time. They aren’t worth mentioning.
Please respect Ema’s wishes and I hope she accepts my apology.

Mary, your heart was in the right place. I had a thought—maybe Ema is from a country where it’s dangerous to have personal information on the internet. I hadn’t heard her first name before, so I googled it—possible origins Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia among others. Places in recent conflict, but how would you have known? She may have reason to be cautious—for herself, or family still living there. Our world is a dangerous place at the moment. Please tell her your readers are so proud of her!
I’m sorry Mary, that she was upset. This is the one time I did procrastinate, I sent one yesterday.
Hopefully she will understand. You meant no harm.
I’m glad I read your post early because I was sending a card this morning. Yesterday afternoon I told Gaylen about Ema becoming a US citizen and he made the comment “Mary sure is nice to ask everyone to send cards congratulating Ema.”
Ema if you are reading this know that we are all so very proud of you and welcome you with open arms. Also know that Mary is a good person and would never intentionally hurt anyone.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Mary I am praying for Ema that her heart will be softened and she will know that the gesture came from
love. Prayers for you also that you can forgive yourself for causing another pain.
Mary – You meant well and you didn’t mean to cause a problem. Your intent wasn’t to hurt or embarrass Ema. Sometimes these things just happen. You did as she requested and took down the post. Per your request, Ema won’t receive a card from me, but instead I will send you a card. 😊
You’ve been a wonderful friend through this blog. Your kind words and thoughtfulness to all of us has helped more than you know.
Keep taking care of yourself, Mary.
Take care everyone.
mary, we all know that you have a big heart and only wanted to acknowledge ema’s big day. maybe it was just too much for her? i’m sure that things will work out for the best.
i’ll be back tomorrow. hugs and blessings, patti in florida
I Hope Ema can accept your apologies.
Yesterday I went to the post office to mail Christmas packages. As I backed out of the parking spot. I hit a parked truck, who was waiting at the light. The driver and the policeman couldn’t have been nicer. But I couldn’t help thinking, no good deed goes unpunished. I guess that is just stinking thinking. I
Best wishes going forward.
My heart hurts for you, Mary. You meant well. You are so proud of her becoming a citizen! Praying for a good outcome.
Oh dear Mary, the best intentions… I’m sorry and I hope she understands your big heart wanting to celebrate her.
I’ve so enjoyed your videos and your piano playing. Hearing the music is the best.
The quilts and your whole house is lovely, just my style
Fluffy bun is stunning. I love the picture and the setting. I don’t think you could have set it up any better. I know you didn’t but the composition of the photo with the flowers in front and the curve of the tree branches looked great.
I didn’t send a card but I did think it was a great idea.
Oh I just had a thought. If you are still having rubbery legs and you have some hiking poles or know someone who may have some, they help with balance and stability as you navigate the outdoors and trips to the barn. The ice event does not sound good.
Stay safe.

Mary you are so kind and generous to want to see someone special be rewarded and that’s all I think of when I see gestures such as what Ema accomplished. Please know we’ve all done something we later wished we hadn’t. I hope Ema understands how proud we all were of her.
I actually had a very good Friday the 13th day. It is my birthday and my husband and I went to Pella this morning and I was able to go to two thrift stores there, and then to Culver’s for lunch. We always enjoy eating at Culver’s and since we don’t have one where we live, we always go there when there is one where we are. Then my cousin invited us to their house for my birthday supper, and we had a good game of Rook, and we girls won, but it was a close game.
I’m sorry you had a bad day. I am so happy for Ema, and her little kids are so cute! I know she knows more about our country now than probably any of us do. I am very proud of her for doing what she has accomplished. I thought about sending a card, but did not do it. Sometimes it’s good when we procrastinate a little!
We are suppose to get some freezing rain here tonight as well. I don’t think it is supposed to start until around 2 a.m. The wind is really cold though. Stay safe everyone.
Be careful tomorrow, Mary, if you get ice up there. I would much rather have the snow!
It’s certainly understandable to not want your name and address made public on the Internet; privacy concerns are real. But I hope Ema will accept your apology and understand it was your enthusiasm and pride for her becoming a citizen and wanting to recognize her efforts that led you to make that post. A mistake made with love and the best intentions.
I hate it when a good and thoughtful deed turns out badly. Your heart was in the right place and I thought cards were a wonderful way to say welcome to someone who’s just become a citizen. We’re on our way to Vermont and are spending the night in Florence, SC tonight. More driving tomorrow.
What a problem from a generous idea! We hope Ema knows we are proud of her and her hard work. Sending good thoughts to all of you!
Oh Mary your heart was in the right place! Pls don’t worry – you did what you could (retracted it and apologized) – now hope you are snuggling with Hazel who’s all squeaky clean! Hugs to you 🥰
Mary, I’m so sorry. Today I mailed her a card this afternoon. I hope she will
just throw it away. I put Country Threads under my address.
Sorry you had a bad day . In contrast, I had a good day not thinking about the date. I took a walk over the border to Mexico this morning after taking care of the dogs. I’m in an RV park near the border town Los Algodones. It takes me 8 minutes to enter Mexico where I treated myself to a pedicure, then a little “window “ shopping in the streets and finally stopped on a street corner and bought a chile rellenos to go and headed back through immigration and a short walk back to my RV.
It’s amazing what you can do when you have wheels under you.
Hope you have a better evening.
For once I am glad I didn’t get to mailbox in time today!!
I did not get any sent but I am happy for her! Sorry you had a Friday the 13th!
We are suppose to get freezing rain, you too in Garner? I’m hoping it isn’t a big deal! The last ice storm we had we were without power several days because it took away our main substation that brings us power! We do have a generator now, so if that would happen at least we could get that thing going (hopefully) it is Friday the 13th!
Our Michigan grandkids have their Christmas program tonight. We have a link so we can watch it. Exciting for us and them! Technology is nice.
Have a good night Mary!
Oh, Mary, you didn’t mean to make a problem. It will be ok. Please be careful tonight and tomorrow; it looks like lots of ice for you. Stay safe!!
You meant well, Mary. It was an honest mistake. I am sure your friend understands that. Give her a little time, I am sure everything will be okay,
My Granddaughter in Iowa texts me the link to use when her children have concerts , so I can watch and listen to them at the same time they are playing and singing. It is great. I agree, technology is great – but only when there is someone here to help me use it. Lol.
Mary, I loved your piano solo of Silent Night. Maybe next time Becky is there, you can play piano and Becky can play her guitar and you could sing a duet for us. Looking forward to your pictures taken in the barn on Christmas Eve. It always brings a visual picture of what the birth of Jesus and the warmth of the stable must have been like. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. Making Christmas cookies tomorrow with the two great grandkids who live nearby. Also found a recipe to make individual Christmas mice, made with crushed Oreos, a candy kiss, and some licorice chews for the tail. Thought the kids (age 5 and 8) might have fun with that. Oh yes, they are also dipped in melted chocolate before adding the eyes and ears. It may be only a one time occasion. Lol. We’ll see how it goes.
Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas. No snow here in No. Colo. So it doesn’t even feel like Dec.
What if I am too late? My card to Ema went out today!
Ditto for me, Mary. My sincere apologies to both Ema and you.
