My IPad officially died and now I’m waiting for a new battery. If that doesn’t revive it I’ll be buying a new Ipad – Merry Christmas to me. I’ll keep posts short for the next few days – I’ll hold on to your photos.

I think I should make this small quilt again – and take that advice.

Unable to comment on last post I received.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and those that have had storms are safe!
I’ve enjoyed seeing the decoration, quilts and nativity scenes.
Mary for the Dirty Dozen do we send you our list of just making one and working on the honor system.
I can’t comment on your post on Christmas Eve, but wanted you to know I got it! Video and all!
Merry Christmas and I hope Santa brings a new iPad soon.
Paula – thanks!!!
Merry Christmas to Mary and Rick, and to all the blog readers. I couldn’t attach a comment to the Christmas Eve post. . The Christmas photos have been great, thank you to all who shared them. Janice Traverse City area.
Mary, wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas! Thank you so much for the blog! It’s so nice to connect with you & others around the USA & overseas! My son & family will be here tomorrow afternoon for dinner & presents! Boots will have the best time with everyone being here. He loves people! By the way my tablet is connected to my phone & my computer. I just got a new phone & all is working fine.
Merry Christmas, Mary – thank you for all the work you do on the blog to keep us together. And Merry Christmas everyone! Our predicted 3” of rain hasn’t materialized, just scattered drizzle. We’ll see about tomorrow!
Merry Christmas Mary. Merry Christmas to all of Mary’s readers. Thank you Mary for writing this blog and allowing us to contribute also. I have so enjoyed all of the decoration pictures.
Merry Christmas to you, Mary. And to all the blog readers, too. 🌻
I’m late with my holiday wishes, but at least it isn’t past Christmas! I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
I’ll be alone, but I’m really content with that. It has been a hectic month of clinic appointments for both my husband and me. My last scan was clear, but the progression of Parkinson Disease continues for Robert.
We will have a cloudy, drizzly Christmas Day and I may–or may not–make lefsa…or I may–or may not–bake cookies…or I may–or may not–cross stitch or sew. How’s that for a plan???
Thanks to all who have sent Mary the wonderful Christmas Parade photos the last week or so. It has been wonderful and a real lift to the spirit. Thank you, Mary for persevering through all the tech problems to keep us together with your blog.
Prayers for all continue. Kris in WI.
Hi Mary,
Merry Christmas Eve to you, Rick and all the animals. I am sure Mortie is grateful he’s with you.
I’m babysitting my grand dog, Pigeon, and my other three kids and their families will be here tonight for the weekend. It will be so nice to have 3 of my 4 in the house at the same time.
Have a wonderful holiday, and I’m sorry about your iPad.
Thanks for keeping us laughing and reading all year long.
I bought a new iPad mini a year (or 2?) ago, because I was always pestered to pay for more iCloud storage (whatever that even is?!). So I made sure to buy an iPad with lots of internal storage, only to find out all the ‘stuff’ I save is still going to iCloud, and they (whoever ‘they’ are?!) are bugging me once again to pay for storage. ‘They’ haven’t backed up my iPad for months, and now ‘they’ promise to cut off my iPad email. ***Many bad words being said here! I paid to have my iPad set up, and although it works well, these issues are a constant pain in the you-know-what! End of rant, lol … not the end of the bad words! Anyway … Merry Christmas Eve everyone! My daughter turns 50 today … ouch!
Merry Christmas Eve to all!
Sorry you’re having tech troubles, Mary. The manufacturers of those devices don’t intend for them to work very long. They want you to buy new ones every few years.
Merry Christmas to you and all the blog readers!
Found this out after shelling out $$$ on tablet for me. Walmart has Onn brand that does everything an iPad can do. We bought one for daughters in nursing home. Looks like they are out of stock for now. It’s every bit as good as my iPad.
Kathleen – does it sync with your phone? Does it run on data if you’re not in your WiFi area? Can you text to your phone from it? Can you take photos with it and send?
I hope you have time to answer these questions before I have to go back on Friday
Merry Christmas to all. Love the pictures and animals. Thank you Mary!!❤️❤️❤️
Yes as much we all depend on technology it’s a burger to deal with when they go off and leave us in the dark. I lost all my pictures from 1990 until now. So sad.
If anyone watched the movie ‘Two Popes’, there is a scene where one of the popes came out a room and handed his phone to the young guard and asked him to fix it – that worked. It just proved that technology is a generational thing. Lucky that I have a computer wizard that I depend on and he knows which store I should go to for new equipment. It’s a life saver.
Janet – I think you know how lucky you are!!!
I too need to get a new iPad before I’m in the same boat. A man at camp last summer had a larger screen one than mine so I will most likely pay the extra for a bigger screen to see better down the road. Spectrum staff in their store helped us transition to iPhones from our dinosaurs cell phones so I’d have them be my support person when I’m ready. Yesterday I returned one $20 item to Target and the girl used three different phone and mobile devices snapping pictures of who knows what so that didn’t settle well with me. I will have to watch my statements carefully.
Kathy – when I started having trouble several months ago I started going to both Verizon and Batteries Plus and obviously neither could figure it out. If they had I wouldn’t be in this position.
Mary I wish I had that intelligence to go to a store and buy a new iPad and transfer old to the new but it is not in my brain band width to understand that process! It’s good there are computer stores to allow us to navigate through this different world. Seems like some of us will be very interested in how you make out as we are in the market but rest assured ALL of us want you on line to stay in touch.
Kathy – I depended on Best Buy for years and then they closed!!! I probably should have just bought a new IPad 😢
I’ve gone through 2 tablets since I discovered them, so they do wear out. I hope a new battery works for you, but I’ve found in my case I had to buy a new one. But I have android devices. My son who lives near will be here for Christmas with his family. One of the grandsons is bringing his girlfriend. For some reason her family doesn’t celebrate any major holidays & it has nothing to do with religious beliefs. So we have an extra guest this year & I had to quickly do a little shopping for a small gift so she has something to open, plus she’ll have a gift bag of goodies to enjoy like the others. After dinner we’ll take a bit of everything to our elderly neighbor next door. Boots will be so happy to see all these people come to play with him! Ron’s family had their family Christmas last Saturday. We also attended a wedding & reception the same day. I felt so sorry for the bride…her caterers cancelled at the last minute! I can’t imagine, but a local pizza restaurant stepped up & served lots of pizzas!
Love all the pictures that have been shared. I continue to go back & enjoy them several times & always see something I missed! Thanks, Mary for posting the blog daily! It’s nice to be connected to quilting friends everywhere! Merry Christmas to all!!🎄
Alice – I hope that bride sues the caterers for ruining her reception. How could they lawfully do that?
Hi Mary!
I love the BE STILL quilt. How do you do the letters for those words? Hand appliqué or heat and bond??
Fluffy bun is adorable on that quilt!
Sorry to hear about your IPad
Hope it starts working correctly.
Merry Christmas!
Bea in Boca
Bea – the letters are fused and then stitched around. I’ll check to see if I still have the master pattern.
Hi Mary,
Thankyou, if it’s no trouble I’d love to buy the pattern.
I need to read that every day! Ha ha but true!
Merry Merry Christmas!!!!!!
Bea in boca
Bea – I looked for the pattern but didn’t find it – I’ll search in other places so don’t give up yet
Thankyou very much!❤️❤️❤️
I have a laptop I rely on. My phone is okay to check on things, but I use the laptop for printing and such. Just think how many blogs and photos you have shared over the years – I think it’s
served you well !
Fireplace is still not done. We were told 3 days, its been a week now. Can you tell I’m impatient???!!??
Found the be still pattern over the weekend. That will be a quick diversion this weekend. Thanks for posting it and reminding me that I’M NOT in control of anything.
Diana – Psalm 46:10 – one of my favorite verses and over the years readers have sent me many Be Still chotchkies that are displayed through my house. Good advice that I should follow
Diana – forgot to say your fireplace project stretching to a week is unforgivable especially right before Christmas. Ugh – your contractors spoiled Christmas for you. Sigh
I have to purchase a new iPad also and I keep putting it off because I know tears will be in my future trying to Navigate the thing. They are always changing things and I’m not a fluid techie. I think I’ll wait and see how it goes with you. 😊
Jean – oh good heavens! You’re in trouble if you’re looking to me for guidance! Haha!
Jean – are you the one who was interested in obtaining the pattern for the calendar quilt? Let me know
How long did that iPad work for you?
Just wondering about the life span of an iPad. I am thinking of replacing my kindle.
Hope you have success.
Carolyn – bought it in 2021 and you know how much I used it!! Everyday for hours!
Carolyn – my Kindle is too confusing to use as much as I’d like to because it’s easier to hold than a book.
I had to get a new I Pad too…. As much as we ‘dinosaurs’ hate to admit it…… progress is here to stay. Mary you are doing a fantastic job to keep
Up with progress! I commend you for it!🥰
Mary Ellen – I’m trying very hard to understand the technology that’s part of this blog – what would I do without it?????
