The wind is vicious today from the south so when I got home from church I raked along the north side of the house. Bazinga!!! That was my last big raking job!
We’re under a storm watch for tomorrow – first of all it’s predicted to be 80 degrees so right there is the first sign of a storm. I’ll let you know.
Two reader quilts – there’s those cats again that I love so much – now with a border.

Now for the Bullseye quilts:

And we’re a long way from being done here. I don’t dare post more each day because it will crash. If you’re reading this and have made a Bullseye quilt but can’t send a picture, tell me in a comment or an email and I’ll compile a list. A picture is more fun but… think of all the people who made Bullseye quilts but don’t subscribe to the blog! Mind blogging.
I’m watching the NBA playoffs tonight and can sew while I listen. Maybe another Georgetown block. Or maybe some easy to sew strips that require no thinking. What are YOU sewing tonight?

Love seeing all the bulls eye quilts and they all look so different. Thanks to everyone who shared with all of us. I do own the book and I need to find it and read the directions. I love the story that starts the book out.
Ooooh, such good eye candy today. I haven’t succumbed to making a Bull’s Eye yet but think it would be most fun! So many delightful variations but that black/white one really spoke to me. I haven’t sewn since last November; I’m a cross stitcher at heart but spent the afternoon working on a “2X4″ quilt in red/white/blue. It’s blocks 2X4” and 4 patches put together in columns. I had to figure out a pressing plan for it. If I ever make one again, I will press seams open but then I’ve already figured out the pressing plan so why waste work? Also been going through quilt books looking for a pattern for 30’s prints. I think I’ve found the one I want to make but there are so many patterns that would look good in 1930’s. Good thing I have a collection of 30’s prints.
Every Bullseye Quilt is so unique. Each is a tribute to its maker’s creativity. I can’t wait to see more!
Love these Bulls Eye quilts!!!
Those kitty faces are too stinking cute! I just found the website to get them.
Alley Cat Tails…cat patterns #246 Stitchin’ Alleycats $7
I too love all the varieties of the Bullseye quilts. I like the borders that are stitched of more colors.
Hope the storms aren’t too bad. It is scary. Prayers. 🙏💝
I found the pattern for the cat embroidery. I did a google lens search. My sisters showed me how to do it and it helps with all kinds of things.
It’s an Alley Cat Tales pattern. #246
I enjoyed all of the eye candy in the blog this morning. Lots to look and enjoy.
I just finished a novel about Hedy Lamar. It was based on her life and was very interesting. She had quite a story. The book was called The Only Woman in the Room.
I’ve been working on two commission applique quilts. I got the top for the first one finished yesterday. Hopefully I’ll get the second one finished by the end of the week.
The Dallas Stars are in the playoffs. They’re playing the Colorado Avalanche. The series is tied at two. Tonight is game 5.
And I’m still moving and replanting the aloes. I had to take a break as my back started acting up again.
Susan,
Thank you for your efforts and information.
I haven’t made a bullseye quilt but sure enjoy the quilt show. Not a lot of sewing will be happening this week. My son and 2 yr old granddaughter are in town. Last night we had 20 of us for dinner. My son smoked pork so we could have pulled pork. I made homemade pretzel buns and coleslaw. Others brought salads, desserts and of course “ice tea”. We were lucky as the day started cold and cloudy but needed up nice enough to have some eat outside on the deck, some in the house. Have a wonderful week everyone.
Mary, I have a completed Bullseye top which has been languishing, just waiting to be quilted. My longarmer doesn’t want to do it, because of the loose edges on the rings. I appreciate seeing close-up pictures of the quilting, as I’ve been considering tying it, which I’m really not in favor of.
I love the cat quilt too, and wonder if it’s a Cheri Payne pattern.
I made a Bullseye quilt 11 yrs ago for me new granddaughter. I do not have a picture of it. I went looking for my pattern and found it. I just might make another one for myself. Love seeing all the pictures of the Bullseye quilts. Thank you everyone for sharing.
Love seeing all of the bullseye quilts. Such a wonderful variety. Eye candy for sure. I am currently working on two quilts. I try to sew a little each day. Relaxing! thanks for the blog Mary. i look forward to it every day!!!
I really enjoy seeing the bullseyes in all the different types and colors of fabric! I made one in 30’s fabrics during our sew-along several years ago. I have a photo but it was taken outside and the colors are washed out. I’ll see if I can corral DH to hold it up so I can get a better picture. Stay safe today! I keep an eye on your weather because we usually get it a day or 2 later.
Great eye candy today. It’s about impossible to pick a favorite but maybe the one that was cut in quarters and resewn speaks to me.
I can’t sew at night like you can Mary – I make too many mistakes not seeing well. I did buy from my local quilt shop to support them rather than on line like people say is easier, an LED light box. I’m hoping it will help me a lot trace some embroidery pieces.
If anyone is hedging to make a bullseye quilt, I say get the pattern from Mary or find Aunt Mary’s book because it was not only the most enjoyable quilt to make, you have shown evidence here from your readers of the variety you can do with it. Mine is mostly gray flannel scraps with neutral backgrounds and the most used quilt in this house.
Thanks Mary and readers for sending pictures of your wonderful quilts. The Bullseye quilts done in so many colors and settings. All are special. Did a few jobs outside and then quilted on the Breast Cancer quilt for my daughter. More tan halfway there. Need some rain but not the storms they are predicting in Iowa. Stay safe all those in line for storms.
Rita – how is Kim doing? I need an update. Yes, a pink breast cancer quilt for her would be great. She’ll love it!
Thanks for asking about Kim. Healing well from her reconstructive and tummy tuck surgery in February. She has been released from all restrictions and is now on the drug Kisquali for 3 years. She told us yesterday that it is $30,000 a month. Fortunately she has meant her deductible. She has been doing PT to regain upper body strength and her group of friends have been trying to share more healthy recipes. She is just now starting to lose a little weight as before surgery she was not supposed to lose any weight. Very minimal side effects from the medication so far. Thanks again for asking Mary.
Thanks, Mary. This is a wonderful post with so much eye candy! I, too, love the embroidered cats. 😊
As for the Bulls Eye quilts, I love them all. I will say the black, grey, and white one especially speaks to me.
My husband was watching the weather and commented your area is part of the big storm prediction west of us.
Take Care/Be Safe, 🥰
Jeanie – I have an appointment this morning at 11 and hope I get home before the storms reach us. This is one of those times that we’ve been warned so much it’s hard to believe them.
The cat quilt is so cute and looks like it would be fun to make. And the variety of bullseye quilts is great. I
actually saw a bullseye quilt on a realtors site when my son and his family were searching for a larger house to buy. There was a bullseye quilt draped over a coffee table in a nicely decorated home that was for sale. That was something I didn’t expect.
I’ve spent most of the day in my sewing room-haven’t done that in a very long time. I’m working on the quilt “Subtle” by Amanda Jean Nyberg. Windy and misty most of the day today.
Cindy – is Amanda’s quilt in her book? I happened to grab that book just the other day – it’s one of my favorites.
Yes. The book is called-No Scrap Left Behind. Is that the one you bought? She has also made another book with another pattern designer which I also have.
Cindy – yes! A great book – the other one, too
We got rain this evening, I know not everyone is as excited as me, but wow rain!! I love all the veritable in fabric selection for the bulls eyes quilt, very nice. I am working on some prosperity hens. Just using up scraps. I hope everyone stays safe
Deb in Idaho – I’ve jotted your name down after your surgery. How are you doing? It hasn’t been that long. I asked for your mailing address because I have something I want to send you. Please leave it in comments or my email if you prefer.
I’m working on a quilt pattern called Goodnight Irene. It’s a scrappy quilt so I’m cutting out squares from my collection of scraps. I was thinking of using a chambray colored background but, now I’m thinking I will stick to white or cream background. A work in progress.
So many wonderful quilts again today. Thanks for posting them.
Storms predicted for us tomorrow also. Hopefully nothing severe.
I also love the cats and hope it is your pattern and I can buy a copy of it.
I made a bullseye and it was the most fun I have had in a long time! Thank you for passing on Aunt Amy’s pattern. Sorry but I can’t send a picture right now but put me on the list of those who have made one.
Spent all day sorting and packing in the Carriage House in preparation for the move this week. Don’t know if I’ll get it all done in time!!!!! Was invited to dinner by our good friends so I didn’t have to cook which was a true Blessing because it would have been cereal cause I’m so tired. Been going sincec 4:00 am today because as tired as I am, I can’t sleep. I keep finding quilt projects in boxes ready to go but haven’t even started them and some I can’t even remember buying or putting them together! Is that nuts or what !!!! Does anyone else do this? I think I’ll blame this on Dementia.
Barbara – I cannot imagine the packing and sorting! Isn’t there anyone to help? Of course I know you are the one that has to pick and choose but aren’t you tempted to just close your eyes and toss? Haha! If I were there I’d help you! Sleeping is a problem on the best of nights – not when you’ve been packing all day. Ugh.
LOL, Barbara. In our house, it’s not dementia. It’s Amazonesia — by the time the box arrives, we can’t remember what we ordered. Sometimes, it’s only been one day! How exciting it must be to find so many new projects 🙂
Susan – YES! That’s it! I didn’t know what had until you explained it!
All beautiful quilts. For some reason, I really like the lavender one!
I love all the quilts but especially the embroidered cat quilt. I’d also like to know if there’s a pattern.
I have made two Bull’s Eye quilts, the first one was about 18 years ago for a friend’s daughter. I do not have a picture of this quilt it was mod black and white prints and aqua prints.
Love seeing all the fabric variations in the quilts made from the same pattern!
Margie,
Could you tell me about the cat stitchery? I have a friend that would like to buy the patten and stitch it for her granddaughter.
I am not sewing tonight but reading 40 Autumns. It is a story about a family separated by the Iron Curtain.
