Mortie followed me to the barn today – nothing fazes her!

We walked in the grove today – it was such a nice day. The dogs loved it!

I almost cry when I walk in the grove – the tree trimming service never came and I don’t know where to go from here. I’m afraid the fence will collapse and the dogs will get out and get killed on the highway.

Great pictures again. We’ve had an exciting week. Another “atmospheric river “ came through. So much rain and wind. I was going to bake Monday afternoon and the power went out. Luckily came back on later but too late to bake. Tuesday got some baking done and prepped dough and put the fridge for Wednesday baking. We had so much rain and wind again and the power was out again for 6 hrs. My cupboards were being installed, thank goodness for battery operated tools so he could still work. Again the power came on and he was able to finish the upper cupboards and trim. The drawers were built wrong so unfortunately he has to come back but no idea when. Spent the rest of the day emptying the last two boxes I have!!! Reorganizing the kitchen including moving our dishes and cups to the new cupboards so no baking. Today I hope to finish it all.
I too couldn’t open the newest post.
I could only get your last post via email, but I enjoyed it anyway. Beautiful pictures. I think the large bird is a pileated woodpecker. The are pretty incredible in person. Quite large. Merry Christmas to all.
Mary, your next blog doesn’t open trying to go to the blog.
Love the Santa collection! Inspires me to haul out my snowman collection, but now our snow is melting, so that puts me out of the mood. Such is life.
Once again Mary you do an amazing and wonderful job on your blog. Love Keeper and Hazel (partial to Hazel, as I have two Jack Russells) and Mortie is a delight. Hub is highly allergic to cats, so no cats in our family. Both of the Jack’s are 13. One is really slow now but the other one who thinks she is a Diva acts like a puppy. She wont for some reason let us pick her us without screaming. We’ve had her since she was six weeks old…what gives?
Our Texas weather was cold and now next week we will be back in the 80’s, Ugh. It’s not Christmas in warm weather. Oh well it could be worse, right? Sorry I know it is worse in other states.
Hope are well and have love this Christmas!! Enjoy all the conversations. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Sherry – thanks! But just now I tried to publish tonight’s post and after a short wait I got the message that it was in the TRASH! What? I have no idea what happened but it’s 11:30 pm and I’ll have to load all the pictures again so for now it’s good night!
Yes Mary, I’m getting a message that this is embarrassing they can’t find your page or something like that. I know I had an update on my phone & thought it might be on my end, but looks like you’re having problems on your end too! Maybe it’ll work itself out??
Alice – I’m going to have to figure this out today – says my post was trashed instead of published! Ha! Maybe it’s a message.
Maybe call the tree trimming company – just reminding them that you’re still waiting and have animals that are in danger from the highway. I hope they come quickly. I love that you’re animals, for the most part, get along! Jan in MA
I love the tree with the dried oranges and candles, my kind of tree.
Apparently, Morti is not afraid of anything, even chickens. How interesting, Mama finally moved into the house.
Thanks, Mary 🥰
I love Mortie! The Christmas decorations have been so inspiring. I wasn’t even going to put a tree up this year due to my 4th and 5th cats who are still very playful one year olds. They have only climbed it once!
It is so nice to get outside with the dogs when it’s warm for Iowa standards lol.
Beautiful photos from everybody. I’d worry too about the animals getting out. Hopefully they know what a great deal they have at home.
Mortie is so cute.
Last night our cat kept staring at the ceiling. We finally saw what he was after: a stink bug flying around and around the ceiling fan. It fell on the table and I was able to scoop it up and throw it outside. Funny cat was more observant than us.
No, Mary, I did not. I bought them at Hearts and Flowers in Cleveland, GA. I believe we went there when you were here, so many years ago! It’s a shop full of primitives in an old farmhouse.
Laura – oh, yes, sigh!! I know a shop probably a couple hours from here that probably has them – next year!
Mary,
Love the decorations again today. We took Biscuit for a walk earlier and it was in the upper 30*s so felt like a heat wave.
Im working on a few Christmas sewing projects and continuing to hand quilt a Christmas panel quilt. Have a great day everyone! 🌻
I love the Christmas. I love Momma, hope she adjusts well. And yesterday when I went to town, the tree service was in someone’s yard cutting a big tree that’s been hanging for a while. There’s always hope. Maybe the will come when the ground is frozen to minimize damage. And yes, I understand the worry.
I’m enjoying seeing pictures of everyone’s Christmas decorations. It helps to get me in the spirit of the Season.
Oh, what beautiful decorations again. That Santa display is amazing. I can’t tell if it’s a collection of a certain type of Santa or, Santa’s in general. Love it.
So sorry your tree service didn’t show to do the tree removal. Hard to depend on companies these days. Very hard on those of us who are not able to do it ourselves.
Thanks Mary, for continuing to do your daily blog. I so look forward to reading it everyday and, always love the comments. You’re much appreciated.
I’ve been enjoying the Christmas decor so much! You folks are so talented! We did our decorating late this year, but still in time for our group’s get together. We’ve grown so fond of primitive decor, and hubby can’t stop visiting our favorite decoration booth every year. Our poor kids! They will have an attic full of just Christmas stuff to go through when we’re gone.
I feel bad you don’t have a reliable tree service to help finish cleaning up. We lost a huge tree limb in October at camp after a wind storm and a service was there the next day cleaning it all up for us. Cost us over a thousand dollars but our peace of mind having the remaining tree taken down was worth it. We don’t do that type of work anymore and it’s aggravating when a business doesn’t want a job. And thanks for sending the warmer weather our way. Woke up to 41 degrees outside. Dogs loved sniffing everywhere in the yard.
Mortie is such a sweetie and I hope she’ll always remains by your side so nothing ever happens to her. She’s too adventurous to trust on her own.
Sorry for your state’s military loss in Palmyra Syria. .
Thank you for providing this platform for the kadies who so generously share this wonderful variety of Christmas cheer.
When I felt some twinges of guilt for not contributing when i am so enjoying, I thought of how lax I have always been about photographing before passing along the things I have made.
Brenda – my iPhone changed my world because I can take a picture any time I see an opportunity. If I see something and then would have to go back to the house for a camera, the opportunity is gone. I take lots of pictures of almost everything and after Christmas I’m going to look around my house – I have lots of interesting things!!
