Beautiful Christmas decorations. I love the quilt your mom made also, Deb C. Really makes me want to try the red work, too. From the cheery Merry Christmas quilt to the gingerbread garland on a festive tree, to all the beautiful table scarfs/runners, this is a feast for the heart and soul! Thanks, Mary for the blog.
Take care everyone. 🌻
I love the Windows quilt! Was it from a pattern or an original design? Jim and I went sailing here in Columbia yesterday on Lake Murray. It was warm and sunny with a mild breeze. Took a look at our cabin up in New York thru our cameras on the property. and saw all the snow. They got 18″ of it over the past day and it looked so pretty there in the woods. However, I’m glad I’m in the South because I really don’t like the cold/snow anymore.
If you’re wondering about the Redwork window quilt with striped borders, my mom stitched this piece. It was probably a pattern but I don’t know if it was from a book or single pattern. Mom is in heaven and I cherish all her quilts. We called her “the queen” because her work was amazing.
Deb, Your mom did beautiful work. If you ever find the pattern please let me know. That’s right up my alley to make.
Barbara – SAILING??? Hard to imagine when we’re sitting in subzero temps – 🤨
Mary, yep, we went sailing. However, the weather changed and it’s pretty cold here especially at nite. The water in my bird baths was frozen this am.
Bitter cold here, too, for now. Extended forecast shows us having highs in the 50s on Thursday! Woo! Love today’s Christmas decorations, especially the trees with all the handmade ornaments. Love the Mumm’s the Word wallhanging, too.
Mary, I too noticed the mitered corners on the red stripe. Every corner matched! How did she do that! Great job! I love seeing the nativities. So many different ones, and all so special. We had -4* here this morning, but very little wind, so not so bad out. We did go to church. Our road was plowed yesterday after the snow stopped. We got about 4″. The neighbor always takes care of our yard for us. We are very grateful for that.
My mom stitched the Redwork piece with mitered corners. She did beautiful work.
Deb – I think her mitered corners and matched stripes are fantastic!
Mary……..thank you. When I was sorting through her sewing room, I found a lot of Country Threads patterns and fabrics and books. I even found paperwork from a trip to the mid-west she took with her bestie and they stopped at your shop!
Deb C – oh, for goodness sake! She was a customer and a visitor – it’s always a compliment when I hear that someone TRAVELED any distance to visit the shop.
The pictures are so great to look at. All are so pretty. It was minus 8 when chores were done this morning. I’m going to finish basting a small flannel quilt for my new grandchild. Maybe I’ll even get some quilting done also. Stay safe everyone.
More beautiful Christmas decorations today. Now I’m inspired to do some red work embroidery, or maybe blue.
Hope y’all stay warm and cozy, and those in the Pacific NW can dry out.
Love everyone’s Christmas decorations! We also only got 3-4” of snow, but wind chills are brutal at -15 to -20. Just talked to my daughter in Duluth and they have similar temps BUT THEY HAVE THE CLOTHES AND GEAR TO DEAL WITH IT! 😃 us, not so much! Mindy, our priest, drove from Kokomo to Marion this morning but I’ll be surprised if more than ten people show up—we’re not going out!
It was zero degrees here this am. Most of the churches in the area are closed today. We didn’t get all that much snow yesterday, it looks like about 3 inches. It didn’t stop until about 9 pm. I’m thinking the combination of snow and cold is why they closed. I will get out to shovel in a bit, dressed in layers.

Thank you everyone for sharing your special decorations. It brings joy to my morning coffee.
Today will be really cold again (wind chill nearly -20) but we are having the kids Christmas program at church and then a potluck meal afterwards. Lots of fun and lots of food. Always a good time.
Have a great day everyone.
Such beautiful Christmas decorations!! Thank you!
Hi Mary, fabulous show! Nice warm day today, don’t envy your weather, but happy to watch some wintery hallmark movies! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
