Mary, thank you so much for allowing us to show off our Christmas decorations. It has been so much fun to see all of everyone’s beautiful homes. It is like visiting with so many friends. I’ve gotten many great ideas.

Marie c – you’re welcome – it was a good idea and I, too, have loved it! I’m thinking of my next feature – maybe I will ask for suggestions after Christmas.

Thank you everyone for your photos. And thank you Mary for posting them. I was struggling a little bit with my Christmas spirit and these daily emails/blog have just put the spirit of Christmas back into my heart. ❤️ 🎄

Hi Mary, love the room with the 2 dogs wrestling! Looks so homely and comfortable, a place to relax! Is that a rowing machine on the front left side of photo? Off today for a day stitching with friends, making date scones to take along . Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

Sandy – it’s a recumbent bike that Rick uses. I used to have a beautiful living room with white furniture that had seasonal quilts but then I got married. There’s a brown chair to the left that is Rick’s chair – he built a platform that it sits on so he can get up easier. It’s the ugliest chair you’ve ever laid eyes on – I paid $7 for it at the thrift store MANY years ago and he won’t give it up!!! I dream of my beautiful living room from 30 years ago.w

A great way to start my day-lovely Christmas photos & a good laugh from those Christmas bulbs “going out”. And to top it off a pic of my favorite girls, Hazel & Mortie. Stay warm everyone!

I have been enjoying the small Christmas vignettes. I usually think of Christmas decorating as the tree, quilts, and larger things. But the small displays touch my heart. Thanks for the reminder that small has its place, too.

Thanks for sharing all the great decorating ideas!

Thank you so much for sharing all the wonderful photos of Christmas decorations, homes, and pets! I open your email the very first thing every morning! I so enjoy your blog! Stay warm, drive carefully, and hunker down with hot chocolate and a good book when the weather is not so great!!!!

Once again, all the decorations are so pretty! I LOVE thr feather tree – reminds me of one my Mom had years ago. And the cartoons are so funny 😁

I was so happy to see the picture of Greta on your bullseye quilt. She looks very comfy! I have been wondering how to quilt my own bullseye quilt and now I have my answer, straight lines going right through the bullseyes. I usually send my larger quilts to my friend who does longarming, but I would have to glue down all the edges of the bullseyes in order to prevent them getting folded over when the machine does the pantogram, and I am not into doing that. So I will tackle it a little at a time. Loving all the beautiful decorations!

Love the Greta picture; she looks so cozy! These Christmas pictures are so much fun to see. Thank you for doing this. I’m sure you watched the Iowa/Iowa St women’s game the other night. Great game!
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Meredith – yes, I certainly did watch and last night I watched the men’s game. Iowa State, rated #4, did a very poor job and almost got beat!
Christine in AZ, temporarily in Scotland
I so enjoy seeing everyone’s Christmas decorations, and loved the blue-and-white embroidered quilt yesterday. Thanks for sharing! I am going to stalk EBay for the pattern.
My husband had to go to Scotland for work so I decided to go with him as I’ve never been. It’s a beautiful country but cold and rainy. I can hear you all saying “well duh, it’s December!” 😆 But there are plenty of Christmas decorations in the hotels and shops, and a castle to see. Hopefully it’s decorated too. Stay warm everyone!

Oohĥ that sounds like so much fun! Enjoy and have a tasty treat for all of us!

Christine – you’re in Scotland??? Wow! Do they decorate like we do? Is you see something very different, snap a photo for us to enjoy.
Christine in AZ
Mary – It looks like they decorate as we do, but more of it. I will take some pictures tomorrow.
Kelli – So far the best food I’ve had was sticky toffee pudding. It’s like a bread pudding with a caramel sauce. Served with a scoop of toffee ice cream. Omg was it good.

Loving the pictures of Morti, she’s so photogenic! Have really enjoyed all the Christmas decorations. Thank you all for sharing with us! Thursday 8 of us that attended the quilt retreat in NE Ohio in Oct met for brunch at one of the girl’s beautiful home. She owns a beautiful historic home in a suburb of Cinti. We all enjoyed a tour of her beautiful Victorian home. Then walked a short distance to a quilt shop. We had a gift exchange & each of us brought a pattern to exchange. It was such a fun afternoon! Well we’re under a winter storm warning & it’s snowing in SW Ohio! Boots is like a kid & has really enjoyed the snow!
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Alice – your afternoon with friends – food, quilts, shopping, touring a beautiful home sounds like my idea of a great time. My dogs, being older, are not as thrilled with the snow as Boots – haha!!!
Alice in SW OH
Mary, yes we all enjoyed spending the day with each other. This was the first year she went on the retreat with us. I think she was afraid she might not like being with a group she hardly knew for 5 days. But she’s already committed to next year. She works at another quilt shop helping people quilt their own quilts.
It will be interesting to see if Boots love for the snow & zoomies continues as he gets older! He will be 2 in March. He really is a character & keeps me laughing at his antics!
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Alice – Boots is going to keep you excited and engaged with life – like Mortie for me. He will keep you entertained with love in your heart. My memory is awful – I can’t remember if your correct shades were installed.

I love the Christmas decorating photos! But most of all I LOVE Mortie!!!!! what a precious little cat. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Carol – I think God knew I needed Mortie – she is constant entertainment and I love taking pictures of her.

Mortie should be a model! So many pretty decorations. I am so happy today, I found my box of tree ornaments. Finally! Tree’s been pretty bare until this afternoon. Where was this box of ornaments you ask? In my sewing room! Silly! Have a great weekend everyone…Jan in MA

Jan – oh, I’m glad to hear someone else puts things in odd places! I have so much stuff “out” and have empty shelves and cupboards where I could put it but then I’ll never find it again. Remember I have CRS.
Candy
I’m loving all the Christmas pictures, but that picture of Mortie looking upwards is a classic. Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I love the one of Greta on the Bullseye quilt too! Relax and enjoy your weekend everyone!
Vickie H
Love all the decorating pics. Really like your tree & keep expecting to see Mortie peeking through the branches.
Mary EtheringtonPost author
Vickie – I did this tree without ornaments just for Mortie and she has completely ignored the tree! I don’t get it.
Sharon F
Probably because there are no bright, shiny ornaments dangling from the branches tempting her to slap at them. There’s only one thing you can count on with a cat: They will not do what you want them to do, only what you don’t want them to do. Still, she’s precious and so photogenic.
