Cold Thursday, 2-13-25

I’ve worked on the longarm all afternoon.

Started thinking of the quilts I can have ready for the fair next summer, not for judging but just for display. Last July I was too sick to get quilts ready for the fair.

Yea, Patti!!! It’s so good to see your comment, and I’m delighted to know you’re reading the blog again even when you can’t comment. I hope you’re starting to feel a bit better now too, Big hugs and lots of encouragement to you!

Hi All, all the beautiful needlework projects are marvelous! So much talent. It’s so fun to see all the different sayings.
I had a bit of a shock today. As I was pulling into the garage I saw a rather large hawk grab up a squirrel and fly off with him. It broke my heart. We feed the squirrels and birds and he was at the feeder, easy prey. I know it’s the circle of life, I just didn’t need to see it in action.
The weather is warming tomorrow and turning to rain. Take care!

Mary, your quilt on the longarm is just beautiful. I can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished.
I’ve really been enjoying all of the needlework that has been shared lately. What talent and dedication went into each piece. In this time of instant gratification, it’s mind-boggling to me the time that went into these.
Thank you all for sharing and Mary for putting it together for us

I really like the house with the rooster and baby chicks outside. Reminds me of the farm when I was a kid. All the needlecraft projects are enjoyable. Love your quilt on the frame.
We may get some more snow here Friday into Saturday. They are saying 1-3″. The wind is blowing what snow we received yesterday around today. Cold outside!
Enjoy these days for sewing! I am.

So much to see! I love the simple moon prayer. We’re cold here, but I did see the moon last night when I went to put out the trash. Something very comforting to see a moon almost full in the clear nigh sky.

I love the cat condo with the heat lamps! Perfect! The needlework is all beautiful! Mary your quilt is very pretty! Can’t wait for you to have it up!

Well, it is warmer today. It is 20* and the wind is blowing, so there is drifting and shifting of snow.

    Have a Good Friday!

The seeds ……I should be looking for some. But the garden is too wet right now. About ten years ago during this time of February, my husband said ‘I think the garden is ready to till.’ He tilled and we planted. Had a wonderful crop of radishes, spinach, and lettuce. Normally we don’t plant until late March in Mid North Indiana. I just need to sew until the snow disappears and the garden dries off. More freezing rain expected this weekend. Ugh. 😠. Thanks for all you do to keep the blog going.

I’m loving the cat condo and as you can see, so do the cats. Again, some great needlework so enjoy.

Cold here too. We have snow too! More coming maybe.

I am home and enjoying every day being in the sewing room. Stay warm and safe.

    Mary,
Happy Valentine’s Day! Cold here in southeast Michigan. We have about 8 inches of snow from the Wednesday /Thursday snowfall. Expecting even more Saturday into Sunday. Sun is out, so its beautiful.
Scotch went home last night. My husband has already said at least three times how much he misses Scotch! We’re dog sitting Biscuit tonight.
Going to Joann Fabrics today to use my gift card because so many are closing. I often wonder if Joann’s would have stayed a fabric store and not branched off into selling all the extra stuff if they would be better off.
Yesterday when my daughter returned home from work, about 6:15, there was a barred owl on her mailbox. They live on a busy street in Indianapolis so not sure what the owl was doing! They have an acre of property and hear owls commonly but don’t always see them.
Have a great day everyone! 🌻

Robbie – I saw the picture first – wonder why that owl was in a populated area. Oh, Scotch – I think he’s just beautiful – I love his coloring! I think your husband needs a dog, don’t you? And obviously Biscuit allows a second dog in your life. Maybe Scotch could come for regular play dates.

    Happy Valentines Day everyone.
I bought a package of parsley seeds to sow inside and they were $3 so that’s a good sale.
We’re in the path of ice and lots of snow this weekend so you know where I’ll be totally content. We’ll just have to stay ahead of keeping the doorways shoveled to let the dogs go out and run back in.

That cat condo is just so cute. love seeing it in use. So nice to see kindness to stray animals. That antique sampler ( I’m assuming it is antique and not a reproduction) was amazing. To think they could stitch something like that without good lighting and magnification. I love working with needles and thread/yarn. Your pets look so comfy and relaxed in the cozy home you provide.

    1. Denise

Yes Ginger, it is an original and very fragile. The text says
“Tell me ye knowing and discerning few
Where I may find a friend both firm and true
Who dares stand by me when in deep distress
And then his love and friendship most express”

  12. Sandy

Hi Mary, Keeper and Hazel look so comfy! It’s lovely and warm in New Zealand, we are up in the hills so usually a breeze which is enjoyable. Found my cat and dog applique pattern so working on the pie es for my great nieces baby quilt (due June). Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

I went looking for a place to click the ad, tried to click the seed picture! Guess I’d better go to bed. It’s a wishful thinking kind of thing for the seeds right now. My friend and I just had a gardening talk the other day. I’m not good at it, she raises flowers, except for the radishes for our friend’s husband. They bought her seeds last year, there’s oodles and oodles of them. She sewed several times, so he had radishes and they still have seeds left for this year. I understand laying on the register!
