Doctor Report, 2-9-26

I got shots in each hip which is a lifesaver and will be getting an MRI for my shoulders as soon as it can be scheduled. Has anyone had stem cell treatment? I’m looking into it for my shoulders. Sounds almost too good to be true.

I’m hearing from readers who have left comments that simply don’t appear and wonder why. You will then feel my angst when readers say their quilt has not been posted – when in fact I know positively that I posted it on my end. I’m sort of wondering if I took a week break from posting if it would clear things out. I have no idea. Like all of you, it’s maddening and disappointing.

Alice’s little dog Boots and his buddy

And the mystery is solved – Sally S. sent this card today and admitted she sent me the chocolates. Thank you so much, Sally! They are absolutely delicious!!!
Look at this view from her sewing room!

And this gets the prize! Look closely – this is made with men’s shirt collars! I haven’t made a folded star in a lifetime and you all know how much I love working with men’s shirts. I absolutely love this!!!

Is this not the cutest cat condo you’ve ever seen?
FluffyBun has regressed – she is showing her ornery side

For you readers out east, I’m quite sure you’re sick of the snow. We could use some for moisture this spring.

She’s everywhere!

Okay, I’m on a mission to figure out why comments aren’t posting. Good Night, Everybody!

Mary, I’m so glad your hips feel better! Hope your shoulder feels better soon! Be careful with your old body!
The weather is wonderful but I’ll bet we will suffer in March 😝
Fluffy bun has always had an attitude! Mortie found a new water dish! 🥵
I’ve been working in mission stuff and greeting cards!

Mary, I have had 3 shoulder surgeries for rotator cuff tears. Both sides. I was 54 years and 63 years old. The surgery is brutal, and takes a year of recovery. Each surgery lasted about 9 to 11 years. My surgeon told me the stem cell therapy does not work for rotator cuff. My shoulder is torn yet again and I will not consider anymore surgery at my age (75). I can live with it by being careful and gentle with myself and I got an electric Accuquilt Cutter for my quilting (I love it). I pray your rotator cuff is not torn.

Linda – of course your surgeon would tell you that – he wants to do your surgery! Without surgeries to perform he’d go broke

    Mary,
Morning! I hope your injections continue to work.
Yesterday we had temps in the 40’s. Felt so nice. I am dog sitting with Scotch this week. Biscuit really has his nose out of joint, not liking to share his humans.
I am late to respond about the Super Bowl, but I was impressed with the defense of both teams. My favorite commercial was the eagle. The clydesdales reminded me of an old farmer neighbor who had 3 Clydesdale horses on his farm when I was a young child. They were magnificent and so beautiful. He and his wife were 4-H leaders for leather making and she knitted. We went into the stables and I loved all the tools he had.
I am working on my #4 and coming along. Scotch lays right behind my sewing chair and he has to get up every time I need to iron! I point to my comfortable needlepoint chair and he will sit there for a short time but then returns right behind me again. I guess being 3 feet away is too far!
Have a great day, everyone! 🌻

Do you think FluffyBun has cabin fever? I guess Mortie has discovered a new water dish.😂 Love her.
The reader’s photos are great! I especially like Sandy ‘s pastel sampler quilt.
I hope you find the right pain relief plan, Mary. Take Care. 🥰

Mary, I saw an ad on my phone today for an item to avoid shoulder surgery called “rejuvecare.” It applies heat to the joint. You might check it out.
    Support@rejuvacare.com
The ad shows it being used on various parts of the body.
It may be a joke, but I may order one for neuropathy in my foot. I would try anything to avoid surgery.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Ann – that’s my attitude, too – I’m willing to try just about anything to avoid surgery.

Mary, I am glad you solved your mystery chocolates person. But, what about me? Ha!

I just loved the FluffyBun picture. So pretty.

Yes, we need some snow. Very little coverage out there.
Get some relief from your shoulder pain. I am thinking of you.

Mary, I’ve heard the stem cells injections work very well, but doesn’t last long…maybe only 4-5 years. To me, that’s easier than surgery. A lot of crap can go wrong with surgery. It’s been around so long most bugs have been ironed out, so it safe.

When I read the comments at the end of the email post, there are no ads to click on. I wonder if email, as opposed to post is the reason for the comments and pictures to be MIA?

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Jo – what in the world is happening to my blog??? 4-5 years sounds great to me!

I have no idea why pictures & comments are not posting! It appears we have problems after there are updates. Everything works great until then! Today in Panama City Beach we’ve been watching the Navy boats maneuver. This is where the Navy seals train. There are also large ships that wait to be allowed into port. Some wait for 2-3 days to come in to unload. Some are turned away for whatever reason. Temps have been cool here, but 60+* is better that back in Ohio. I have one more project to sew & 3 books to read & we’re here for 3 more wks. I’m glad I brought my tablet to download more books! Can you tell I’m not used to having this much time to sew & read? Our condo on the beach has an awesome view though!! Mary, so glad you are having relief for your hips!!

Mary, I use Life Wave discs…have used them close to 10 years. They have helped me. They take aches away and help with pain. I get them from a friend, I’m pretty sure you can order from their website also. Give it a try. I use X39 and X49, I have tried a couple other styles…and may try them… I think they are called Lifestyle. Hope you find some relief soon.

Wow, such great pictures today! That collar folded star is incredible.
Mary, your stem cell procedure sounds intriguing. I hope it works if you decide to go for it.
Teresa, what a great view you have when you sew! And it’s such a nice big room too.
Off to get a second cup of coffee then on to chores. See you tomorrow everyone!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Christine – I agree – that folded star was above and beyond. I loved it!! I’m on my second cup and soon to sign off till tomorrow

  11. Judy B - Michigan

Here is a comment from Tuesday morning! Glad to hear you have some relief from your hip pain. I will be interested in hearing about your shoulder fixes. I am in the same boat.1

    Have a great day!

  12. Donna Sproston

Oh, Mort. I love you! I am thinking how many shirts do not have to be ironed thanks to that folded star. If it were not for quilting, I would never iron again.

Our daughter, the ultrarunner, had her stem cells harvested from her butt cheeks and injected into her knee. It worked. The cells could have been injected immediately but she chose to wait two weeks because she had running events scheduled. If you want more details email me.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Donna – wow! This is a whole new world to me! I’m going to the office today to inquire. Yes, I will email

    2. Cynthia in Minnesota

Donna, I would love to hear more about this procedure, is having stem cells injected an alternative to a knee replacement? Intriguing. Think of how fewer surgeries people would have to undergo. Today I am working on sashing for my ME Attitudes quilt top. The panels are sashed, next will be the quilt blocks I have made. Somehow I have misplaced a row of blocks, so I will do the ones that are there, then I have to find those missing blocks. Where they went, this will be the discovery. Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment in Sioux Falls, then will take my machine in for a spa day. I will get busy sorting stuff on my tables for ‘next’ projects, time to cut fabric while the machine is away! Then I won’t be able to find stuff again. Vicious cycle. I hurt my rotator cuff like six years ago. It took three years to heal, never realized how important well-functioning body parts are until they aren’t up to par. Looks like hubster will watch Olympics, then westerns.

WOW! That shirt color star is amazing- what an accomplishment

Glad you got injections and hope you see improvement very soon! Bursitis stinks 😡

That cat condo is just too cute and Fluffy Bun’s expression is priceless

  14. BRENDA

Didn’t we have this issue with using the blue comment process at the end of the day’s comments by you rather than clicking on the option at the (R) top of the email and going to the comment option at that option to read and or comment ??? (Longest sentence ever ?)

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Brenda – that occurred to me as well – I’m going to do some research today. One of my most faithful readers is having the problem and I trust her to know.

  15. Sally in NV

Mary, so glad my card caught up to the chocolates! Happy you like them! I haven’t heard of stem cell treatments. Love All the quilts! Alice, your flag quilt and red & white star quilt top are beautiful. Boots and his friend are adorable. Sandy, your sampler quilt is lovely, such nice soft floral pastel colors. Teresa, the view from your sewing room is amazing! I’d have a hard time concentrating, especially with horses near by. Mortie is too much!!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Sally – you are too kind to send such lovely chocolates!!! They’re already gone – ha!!!

    2. Alice in SW Ohio

Sally, I’m in Panama City Beach, FL for the month & just finished DD # 4 last night. It’s a small table topper that I’ll quilt when I get back to Ohio. The red & white quilt top is actually a tree skirt that has to be quilted, circle cut & opened up after quilting & binding. I ran out of time before Christmas, but I’ll have it for this Christmas! My friend is keeping my little Boots while we’re here. She & I have been exchanging pet sitting for many years. I’ll have her dog in April & again in July.

  16. Teresa from Maple Ridge, BC

For people having an issue with their comment posting. I had the same issue. Luckily I had another email address I started using and now my comments show up. The email I always used stopped working-when I would write the post and then press post comment, it looked like it would work and yet it never showed up.

It’s my renovated sewing room that the picture is from. I painted the room a warm off white and we ripped out the carpet and installed laminate floor. For now this room has our guest bed, once that is in its own room I will have even more space. My view faces south, onto our vegetable garden, riding arena and our two barns. I can see one of the three horses when she is in her paddock and there is a field to the right of the window I can see a bit of. This year we won’t have the horses in that field as we are hosting a wedding in August and that field is where the ceremony will be held.

On stem cell injections. My husband was sold on stem cells for his knees. He had numerous injections and was so convinced it would help. After many appts. and injections he finally gave up. He got no relief. Maybe it is different for shoulders or someone else had a better outcome.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Heidi – oh, darn – I’m so sorry he didn’t get relief!! I guess it isn’t foolproof

  18. Brenda Jeffers (Brenda in SE Iowa)

Wow, just WOW! I’m overwhelmed by the cards I have received to date. I will send Mary an email and pictures in another week or so but wanted to give an initial thank you’. The notes you included were just so special. I know I will read the again and again. Tonight, my heart is full and very humbled at your outpouring to a stranger.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Brenda – we all hope our cards find you more comfortable. Is your surgery scheduled?
