Don’t worry! 6-7-25

If I don’t get a post written every day, please don’t worry. I usually write at night and this time of year I might simply be too tired. It’s become somewhat of a habit to write every day but honestly my days are not that interesting.

And here’s the other issue – I haven’t gotten quilt pictures from anyone for days – let me guess – you’re too busy? Too tired? See my point?

We’re cleaning the barn today so I might be too exhausted tonight to compose a post. If so, don’t worry.

This is such a busy time with yard work, graduations, etc. Whenever you have time, we appreciate hearing from you,. Posting every day is lots of work.
Our oldest grand daughter received a master’s in nutrition and our only grandson graduated from high school—they made us proud. Can’t believe they are all grown up.
We spent the day at a small town annual ‘Strawberry Festival’. My hubby rented a craft space and set up a display of hand woven rugs. The craft show organizers requested hubby bring a loom, too. It was wonderful seeing how excited people were to sit down at the loom. Grade school kids would learn a little about operating it; then they would bring friends back to experience it, too. People always say, we have my gma’s loom in our barn, basement, etc. We had tents over our displays and a tree for lawn chairs. It was a great day.
    Thanks So Much, Mary 🥰

If I don’t get your email before going to bed, I assume it will be late and I’ll read it in the morning. As someone said, you have spoiled us with daily newsletters.

Thoughts and prayers are sent to Mary’s as she struggles with lung cancer.

This time of year I just want to be outside – worked all day pulling weeds, mulching, planting and weed eating. Tired by happy – just had a hot shower and a gin and tonic. Now to read my library book and will probably fall asleep while doing so. Hope to do more tomorrow after church.

Sorry I have never posted my few quilts. Can you remind me how to send them to you via email or download or what. Thank you.

You send an email with the pictures to Mary. Her email is on the main page of the blog.

We are so fortunate to have much that keeps us busy during the day and by evening, I’m exhausted. Today though I had a ball and went to one day town wide garage sales in the area where our camp is. One home had a tent outside that was filled with quilts, fabric, kits and assorted notions. She use to own a quilt shop in Watkins Glen and has moved to our area so you can imagine the following she has who drove up this way. Her and her sisters and mom cleaned out. I bought alot for good prices. Bags of charm squares for $1. Just remembering her shop was enough to make my day spectacular so I can imagine how people feel when they reminisce with you on those days you had your business.

Love your improv quilt. I won’t have any new quilt pics for a bit. I’m in the middle of quilting one now. I’ve been busy with garden and flowers. I’m also refinishing a large pie safe. I want it done by fall.

I wish you would enlighten us with little stories about your adventures as being a vendor at quilt shows (like when your car got broke into at Rosemont) or traveling teaching, Even how it was to keep patterns made, stocked, people to run your shop and take care of the animals while gone, etc. I am sure you have many stories looking back that most of us who have known you many, many years, would like to hear. Thank you.

thanks.. With a farming childhood I guess there are a sufficient number of challenges/accidents in mind to be one of those “worry-warts”

So glad you are okay. I do worry but do know how busy you are in so many ways. I love all the things you post about. I am too tired to just about anything due to health issues but so far manage to take care of the basics. I have not yet gotten the sewing energy back. I hope it will come back at some point.

I’m not sure how everyone picks their quilting projects but I’m a seasonal sewer. Now I’m working on Spring/Supper stuff so I was thrilled to find a box of fabric during THE MOVE, to make a Sunflower Quilt . Just sent Mary a picture of my 1st flower which is 3D to see what she thinks. Soon I’ll be switching to 4th of July sewing so I hope to make some good progress on The Sunflower Quilt. Hot here in Columbia, SC but I’m loving the sunny weather.

    Hi Mary,
I know you must be busy if you don’t post! Gus the cat is back with me and Buster. He relaxes me watching him explore my space.
I’m interested in your improve quilt. Fascinated by all your creativity. I did look at some of the books you posted. I liked the wacky stars the best. What people will come up with. I think I am a reader, of all things quilt and crafty. Can go down a rabbit hole in something like the internet. Guess I was suited to library work, I had found my people!

Mary, your days are so full that it’s no wonder that you are sometimes too tired to write a post. Enjoy that evening beer at the end of the day and write the post whenever you catch a breath.

I’ve got about 12” or so of binding to finish on my Flag House quilt. I’ll hang it up and take a picture to send as soon as it’s done. It’s supposed to be 91° today and into three digits by Monday. That’s way too hot. Good time to stay inside with the AC and sew!

It’s a lot to expect anyone to write a blog post every day! But you have spoiled us, so that we have come to expect it, and worry when we don’t see one.

I haven’t sent in a quilt picture because I haven’t finished one lately. Maybe readers would send in more pictures of you asked for ones of a specific kind, like you have done before. This would be a good time to send pictures of patriotic decorations, quilts, flowers or otherwise. Just a suggestion, not trying to make more work for you!

Summertime is so busy on a farm or acreage. There’s weeding, mowing, and trimming, etc. and then if you have animals, that needs to be done also. Never a dull moment!
My sewing machine is neglected…. I have been gone and haven’t gone down to sew since we got home.
I just put a rhubarb crispy in the oven.
    Have a good Sunday.

I haven’t quilted in so long I’m not sure I know how anymore. I’ve been dealing with lung cancer for over a year and just can’t get my energy back. We’ve got a new great grandbaby coming soon so I need to get back into the mood to make a least one quilt! I’ll try to send a picture when I get it done.

Mary – I’m so sorry you’re dealing with lung cancer – my post certainly was not aimed at you. Good luck with the baby quilt.

    2. Barbara in Columbia S.C.

Mary. consider making your great grand baby a small wall hanging that you could work on slowly but it wouldn’t take so long to make. I’ve found they are just as precious to the family as a full quilt and usually get hung in their rooms and stay their for years. Use a theme like Space for boys or Flowers/Butterflys for girls etc.
