Today is our 28th wedding anniversary and we celebrated by cleaning the barn – Don, Sarah and Josh did the majority of the work but here is the start.

Here’s the corn near Ft.Campbell,Kentucky

Let’s check the corn around the country!! Take a picture of a cornfield near you showing us how tall it is and tell me the location. Rick will love this so I know the other husbands will, too. Can/will you do it? Take the picture on your phone and send it by email to me at:
maryehazel2020@gmail.com
I’ll tell Farmer Tim to take a picture of his favorite stand of corn, too. Ellen??
I have quite a few reader photos tonight so enjoy!
Flowers in Michigan:

This is the finale for my peonies – I’ll sure miss them.

The rest will wait – sometime I’m going to repeat some of my favorite photos – animals and kids mostly. There are some I just can’t delete. Smile.
Did you watch The Fever trounce the Liberty today? Not just a few points but 102-88! SHE’S BACK!!!!!!!

The happiest of anniversaries, you two. Seems cleaning the barn to celebrate is pretty much a reflection of a long marriage . . . refuse to comment further. I so wish I could send a corn picture; but, nary a stalk in sight much less a field! I am in Chattanooga, TN . No corn, no rhubarb, no lilacs. SIGH.
Happy Anniversary! Just wanted to thank whoever mentioned the ‘three dots’ in the ads. I was able to close them today. Wasn’t sure what to do when the x’s disappeared. Oddly tho – there was one ad with an X today. So glad you had help with the barn cleaning – that’s a lot of work!
Carolyn – and I never did figure out why they disappeared but I’ve been having g some minor problems for about 3 days – maybe it was all connected.
Great pictures. I love the “Nightfall” quilt by Donna. So clever directions from Missouri Quilts. I love the pictures of the flowers, too. I could visit flowers gardens every day if I had my wish. Theresa of Indiana also made a clever Bulls eye quilt. All this eye candy is a treat. I’m glad you got help with cleaning the barn. I watched the Fever on YouTube highlights! Wow, and playing to a sellout crowd, too. I’m glad Caitlin is back.
Our corn is pretty short. I think we had to plant it late because of all the rain. We’re going to have rain all week I’m afraid.
Happy Anniversary Mary and Rick. My friend, Evonne, and I were the last to stay at your house before you were getting married the following summer. She took me there for my 50th birthday (in December). I think we had to cancel our first scheduled date because of a snowstorm. I sent a picture to you awhile ago of me in an upstairs bedroom. It was such a memorable time. We sewed above the garage I believe if I remember right. My husband and I celebrated our 57th anniversary on June 1. It is hard to believe it has been that long for us, and we have lived in the same house all those years.
I always enjoy all your pictures and reading all the comments. Last week I was involved in camp meeting and got behind on my reading, but caught up on Saturday. We had .22″ of rain overnight. Would have liked more, but thankful for what we received. We have soybeans by our house this year. There is some corn across the road from us. Will have to see if I can get a picture somehow.
I have three different appointments this week, plus quilting with our church group on Tuesday, so will be another busy week, but not as busy as last week.
Take care everyone, and keep commenting.
Jeanine – yes , I do remember!!! I went to all that work and expense upstairs and then got married – what can I say?
Readers, I love to see your flowers but honestly for me it’s a spectator sport! A group sent a potted hydrangea for mom’s funeral. Ugh! Where to put it. How to care for it? Call B4 you dig has marked proposed spot….
My question is: how do you feel about sending/receiving landscape plants??
Happy anniversary to our favorite blog couple. Work is never done when you have a farm with animals, crops and buildings to tend to. You don’t need to pay for a gym membership! Ha!
Thanks to all who share such wonderful pictures to admire. We do enjoy seeing everyone’s little spot in this world.
Your back porch looks so peaceful and inviting. I’d love to sit out there reading a book. What gorgeous pictures of peonies and hydrangeas.
Happy Anniversary! Love all the pictures!
Happy anniversary! I love the flower pictures because they are so difficult to grow where we are due to our wild swings in temperature and all the deer. My husband and I had to giggle though, when I told him my favorite blogger from Iowa wanted to see pictures of cornfields of all things!
Happy Anniversary, Mary and Rick! I loved all the photos today, work , beautiful flowers, quilts! I cut quite a few peonies today as well as I thought it was going to rain in the night, and the rain demolishes them, they smell so pretty as well! Heavenly! We drove to EauClaire, WI on Friday to get my friend Jean, she was glad to visit her sister, and glad to go home as well! Minnesota is so different in topography from west to east. We live in the prairie region and going east it’s big woods and rivers. And the trees and bluffs. I am a true flat-lander. We do not have any get together with our kids planned today, but they all will call Larry. I really loved the quilt show today, the pastel log cabin, pinwheels called Nightfall and your very cool shirt quilts! June is half over…our anniversary on the 30th, our 52nd, and my birthday on the 26th. Summer will go so fast! I also loved reading the back and forth conversations as well.
Perfect morning to drink coffee and get some eye candy. Thank you.
What a job that cleaning of the barn must be.
I had a cairn terrier that loved the water. We kept one of those pools full of water in the summer for her.
Happy anniversary!
Beautiful quilts and flowers! My peonies and iris are done but the lilies and hydrangeas are blooming.
Wonderful pictures today!! Yes I am using three dots to close the ads. Seems to work for me.
Happy Anniversary to you and Rick. Just love that adorable Hazel!! Have a good week.
Love the quilts today! Donna thank you for the pinwheel pattern name, I’ll check it out.
Hoping to finish up my orphan block quilt in the next few days. I’m having fun with it and already planning the next one.
By the way the corn along 75 outside of McKinney Texas is 4-5 feet tall. The corn behind my son’s house is only about a foot tall a week ago. I have no pictures of either.
Wheat harvest is basically over and if they can get in fields a second hay cutting is happening for some. With all of the rain it’s been a good hay season so far.
I love the colors in your shirt quilt. The flower and quilt pictures are real eye candy today.
Happy anniversary! Our 40th was December 1. For many years we celebrated with my husband working late. He did accounting work and the first was always busy. So I understand the barn cleaning.
It’s been busy around here. A trip to Iowa the end of May for a grandsons birthday and we’ll leave this week for another birthday. I finished two commission quilts and need to send a picture.
We’ve had lots of rain but now the 90’s are hitting. High humidity and horrible swarms of mosquitoes are in the forecast.
My mom is going to one doctor after the other after a strange event the beginning of May. My sister who usually takes her to appointments fell and broke her ankle. She’s on recovery with no weight to be put on her ankle at all for 6-8 weeks so I take my mom. My dad goes along and we do enjoy our visits but the driving is a lot. My parents are 88 and in fairly good shape for their age – that’s according to her latest doctor. They’re slowing down both physically and mentally.
The red and white quilt pattern is Nightfall, a free tutorial by Missouri Star. It is a disappearing pinwheel variation made from a layer cake but it is sliced and rearranged before the half square triangles are sewn into pinwheels.
Happy anniversary. Our 59th is coming up in August. Fortunately, we have no barn to clean but the pantry could use some organization along with my fabric stash!
Donna – I like the looks of you quilt very much! Yes, this should have been our 59th anniversary as well. Both my pantry and sewing room could use some attention as well. Ugh.
Barn cleaning is such a big job. Bet you slept like a baby under that nice soft quilt! Once again it’s raining but the flowers & corn are loving it. I feel like Hazel has the right idea after a day of hard work! As usual the flower & quilt pics are a great way to start my day.
The flower pics! Oh my. Gifts from God I believe
Mary I have a little concern. The last few days I’m not able to click on any x’s in the ads. The ads are there but no x to click on. What?
Jean, I’m on an iPad and the ads have 3 dots instead of an x to click on to close the ad. I can tell you right now I will never buy a a pair of Vivaia shoes!
I’m a lousy gardener, but I’m at my sister’s in Ann Arbor and she has 10 green fingers. I’ll take pix of hers!
Jean – hmmm, I’m not sure I have a clue about this but I need them to work so I’ll look into it. Thanks for the heads up!
Hi Mary – happy anniversary! Al and I celebrated 50 years on May 31, that time went so fast!! Thanks everyone for sharing the flowers and quilts – all so pretty. No flowers at my house since the rabbits around my house only choose the prettiest things to eat and are fenced out of the vegetables.
The ads on the blog page for me have been 3 stacked dots instead of an X in the same spot for several months – most of the time (for some reason I had an X the other day). It might be a search engine change – like the format is different for Firefox vs. edge, etc. But clicking on the 3 dots closes the ads like the X.
I went to Cresco yesterday to go to a 2 day QOV workshop, it’s always good to congregate with other quilters and exchange ideas and inspiration.
You’ve gotten so many great jobs done! Clean windows and a clean barn – Yay!!
Sherry from Kasson
Someone suggested she clicks on 3 dots on her iPad. I’m on my phone. No 3 dots andno x.
Jean – I hope this isn’t on my end because I won’t know how to fix it!
Happy Anniversary! 🎉 The flower photos are gorgeous and I can’t believe how high the corn is in Kentucky 😍 Hazel’s swim photo is just waaayyyyy too cute! She makes me laugh – thanks for sharing her antics!
“Happy Anniversary!” Great pictures today.
Love your shirt quilts. Glad you had good friends to help clean the barn. Put your feet up tomorrow!
Caitlin was on fire today. Glad she is back!
Vicki – thanks! It really was a good day – just not a typical celebratory event – haha!!! Our prelude tomorrow is Surely the Presence if the Lord Is In this Place / it was performed at our wedding in the same church.
