Such a nice calm, quiet day – very enjoyable! Mollie came this afternoon but she’s so good that she’s no trouble at all. Her mom, Marline, has had some health issues the past couple of weeks and I’m always glad to keep Mollie for the afternoon so she can get outside and get some exercise.

Friends Nancy and Kathy came late this afternoon to sew favors for Women’s Fellowship – I’ll post later.

Here’s the book someone asked about.

I went to a thrift store yesterday to donate two huge bags of books and found the drop leaf table for $8.00.

What a great little table for plants!

The red, white and blue quilt is in the dryer right now but I’ll take a good picture tomorrow.

Yup, she’s laying on the counter!

Throughout the day I think of things I want to write in the blog post but by late evening I’ve forgotten what they were. Can anybody identify?

Your painted table reminds me of the old table that sat in our back room, formerly a porch that had become part of the house. It was always a place to sit stuff. The legs were painted white and the top was always covered with a table cloth. When mom sold the farm house, my sister said Mom was going to use that old table for her dining table. It was beautiful. She had refinished the table and it looked really nice in her new home. I think your painted table will look just fine with some of your plants on it. Thanks for all the memories you cause to come my way.

Be careful what you wish for. At the shelter, I wished for a cuddly, lap cat. Oh my, Quinn the torbie (part tabby, part tortoise ) kitty always wants to be on me, she lays on my chest with her arms around my neck in my lounge chair. If I had a dime for every head butt I get on my face I’d be rich. In the middle of the night i get a gentle pat on my cheek so I will turn over and she can curl up under my arm. She is 14 now and oh dear I love her so much. God knew I needed her.

Your drop leaf table is perfect for plants. You find the best bargains. I agree with Mary J. that it would be at least $25 in California. We have had rain here this weekend. Even had a little lightning. We really need it the rain!
I watched the Artemis splash down too until they were on the Navy ship. So glad they made it home safely. It’s so amazing what they can do but I plan on keeping my feet on earth!
    Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Becky in Washington, what is that quilt pattern? It is cute, cute, cute! And I love the colors!

Thank you and hello to my OR neighbor! I can’t take credit as it was a kit, sold out now. Pattern is Gentle Blossoms by Fat Quarter Shop and fabric is by Lori Holt. I don’t usually make vintage style but I thought it was cute too! Fair warning: these are only 8” blocks but take a while as there are lots of seams.

      1. Carolyn Knott

I just completed this one only added 3 more rows! I’m now trying to decide on the border. It surely is labor intensive. So many 1 1/2” pieces to each 8” block! The neutral alone was 24 of them. Thank goodness for GO! Yours looks really good!!

You’re courageous to make so many! Please be sure to share when you’re done. I don’t have a GO but I was thankful for my stripology ruler!

Love seeing this and reading all the replies. I too love Mortie and watching her what ever she is up to. Sad that she doesn’t like to cuddle. Love the drop table and that wonderful price. I have an old lamp table with drop leaves. I use it every day beside my lounge chair and my laptop. I too am a pen and paper girl (85). I take envelopes from my mail and cut them up to use as scraps to write notes to myself. Of course, I sometimes lose them. But I have numerous note pads to write things I want to keep, like quilt patterns and things I want to try in quilting. I have to keep a spiral note book because my cardiologist has me keeping track of my blood pressure twice a day because they can’t get my blood pressure down. I tried using the MyChart thing on my computer to type up all the blood pressure readings and then the stupid thing wouldn’t let me send it! I really am an old dinosaur.

Only $8.00! Wow. What a great buy. Perfect for your plants. I have so much trouble using my phone. I wish I could get on to it better. Messaging oneself is such a good idea. Have a great day, everyone.

I love little Mortie! Is it just my imagination or is she petite? I also was glued to the TV for the Artemis landing. Such a positive thing for our country. And for Canada—I visit there regularly and it’s true that they’re just the nicest people.

Becky – we were just commenting on her petite frame – I don’t think she’ll ever get very big – she’s best friends with the enormous Three!!!!

Table…a great find! RWB quilt looks good in sunshine and will be handy for plants. $8! Not around here! Beautiful quilt from reader. Look forward to pet escapades every day. So much joy. Thanks for your heartwarming post!

Yes, Friday was a beautiful day! There was no wind! Sunny and 50 something. Perfect!
We had grandparents day for two grandchildren. Really didn’t get much more accomplished after that.
    The white table is perfect!
I love the red, white, blue quilt. So striking! And you have it quilted and bound already! Way to go! I think I have five to bind, unless they are reproducing under that pile 😂. My grandsons rearranged the office so they could pile blankets on the floor for theirs bed. I should really get the room vacuumed while it’s so compact. It is nice for them to have that room to themselves.
It is raining here this morning and breezy. The rain is so welcome! The trees are budding and the grass is greener! Love spring!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Joy – hardly raining here and we could use it. The r,w,b quilt is probably the easiest quilt I’ve ever made – all you need is a jelly roll and I have several more to use. Just might make the same quilt again.

I’d find it hard to do anything around your place during the day cause I’d want to just sit and pet Mortie on my lap all day long! She’s so darn sweet. Your pets alone would keep me entertained.
Great find with the drop leaf table.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Kathy – haha! Mortie would never tolerate laying in a lap – in fact I don’t think I’ve ever held her – she’s very squirmy!

Love thar drop leaf tree table! What a great price and so versatile. Can’t wait to see where you put it

Oh can I relate about thinking of things then forgetting later 🤣 our “mature minds” have so much stored there, I find myself asking sometimes “do I really need to store this info or just let it flow thru” 😁

    Happy Saturday Everyone

    1. Cynthia in Minnesota

Sandy, I am wondering, what do you need to book a time slot for, an appointment with your doctor?

  13. Rose

Thank you for posting about the baby rings/ necklace!
I wish I had been as clever as you and collected baby
rings instead of salt spoons!!! No way they. would make
    a good necklace.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Rose – I wish I could take credit for thinking of. Collecting the baby rings but a customer from the Chgo area had two necklaces!!

  14. Jeanie S, Central IL

Your little drop-leaf purchase is adorable, and Mortie looks so comfy tucked between things on the counter, love her.
    Becky in WA, great quilt!

  15. Mary Johnston

I write myself an e-mail the night before I go to bed of what I want to accomplish the next day. My phone is my other brain!🤪
I love your cute table! It would have been at least $25.00 here in Ca.

  16. Pamj

Mary, that R, W & Blue quilt is gorgeous!! And that table, oh my..love it too. Did you watch the Artemis land & retrieved. Just WOW, What a beautiful site to see. So thankful that everyone is home safe. But, geez what a ride and the stories they will tell.

Do you have the Notes app on your phone? If yes, then use it to keep track of things you want to write about. You just need to put a few words, enough to remind you. I use the voice option so it’s real easy to set a reminder quickly.J

    1. Rosemary W

I like the notes app too… just speak into it a -short reminder to help later on . Then you just have to remember to check your notes…. Ha !
