Windy Rainy Saturday, 4-11-26

Good grief! We are going to blow away! Winds from the southeast making our yard, house and dog door unlivable! Light rain off and on making this a miserable day and one to be inside watching The Masters. I love big sports events and this qualifies.

You’ll enjoy these quilt photos from a quilt show a reader attended:

Such wonderful quilts, aren’t they? They all look so difficult tho – certainly not mindless sewing.

Because I need another easy quilt to make and I’ve got another jelly roll, I’m starting again – this time with all the fabric info I could find which I’m sharing with you here.

Since I can’t sleep I think I’ll get started now!

Thank you to the blog reader who shared the Miamisburg Quilt Show photos. Great quilts. We had lots of heavy rain today. More expected this coming week. The rain will help with the lake levels. Janice Traverse City area

My orange cat doesn’t like to be picked up either! He wiggles and meows. I’ve crocheted little blankets for the three sofa seats, and he loves those. If I sit on the sofa with one of the blankets on my lap, he’ll get on my lap and snuggle and purr for about 5 minutes and then he moves to one of the other blankets. He’ll happily stay beside me for hours. But let his feet touch a blue jeans lap? Never!

I enjoyed the quilt show photos. My favorite was the string quilt, with its bright colors. The “stretching” of the teal to a yellowish green made all the difference.

Sorry you’re having trouble sleeping, Mary. Is it the steroids?

Dot I too have an orange cat and he doesn’t like to be picked up. In the winter if I have on my flannel robe he will come sit in my lap. The weird thing is he is the most loving of my 3 cats!! I have a Manx that goes around just looking for trouble. Then my older one is a tuxedo and he has to sleep right under my chin but I fight him off and on all night because he tries to bite my Cpap hose. They’re such funny little creatures.

Dot – yup, Prednisone gives me so much inner energy that I can’t sleep – even with several meds and supplements so I’m going to keep sewing late into the night. No sense just laying there

Great photos of the Miamisburg Quilt Show – I love that eagle quilt!
Since you were getting rain and wind on Saturday, we’ll probably get some on Sunday – perhaps I should mow before the rain gets to my place and then stitch while getting outside isn’t a good option…
I’m looking forward to what you do with the jelly roll!

Suzanne, wishes for a speedy recovery!
Loved the Scottie quilt. It reminded me of the Angus books by Marjorie Flack and the McDuff books by Rosemary Wells. All the other quilts were beautiful, too.
The color wave in that in your jelly roll is appealing – muted colors – and will be fantastic when it’s done, Mary.
    Happy Sunday!

Thanks for the quilt show. Not a fan of 30’s fabrics but I love the Scottie quilt. Recuperating from heart valve replacement and hand appliquéing hearts to 5” squares. Look forward to your posts every day.

Suzanne, best wishes for a speedy recovery from your heart valve surgery. Having hand work to keep your hands busy sure helps with the days of rest.

Suzanne – sounds like serious surgery!!! I don’t care for 30’s fabrics either but since I have so many, I’m using them for Rose’s quilt. Onward with your hand appliqué!

Looking forward to see what you will create with that jelly roll! I’m finally over my cross-stitch phase and ready to get into my sewing room again. Helping a friend by sewing some valances for her and her new home. Already have the next quilt pulled out and onto the cutting table. If some little elves would come and do the cutting for me I would be so happy…. hahaha

Mary, thanks for your recommendation of Judith Viorst books — I went to the library on Friday and picked up 2 of her books. Already finished “I’m Too Young to Be Seventy” — thought that was appropriate since I turned 70 in February. Very enjoyable and many good laughs which I also needed.

We will see today if Rory is able to pull it off again. I’d love to see him win again.
