Congratulations to Rory McElroy! Winning The Masters two years in a row – such a fun afternoon of golf and I’m not a golfer at all. My mom was a great golfer and as a kid she begged me to go golfing with her and I refused.
Windy again but has switched to the southwest giving us a break. Church was new member Sunday with coffee and cake following the service. Always nice to have new people join our church.
Molly spent the afternoon here – she really needs to get outside and run around. Bob and Marline are having some health problems right now so I think Molly will spend more time here this week. Bob’s 90th birthday is April 19 – you would never believe his age by looking at him.
I’m sewing strips tonight – making the same quilt as the red, white and blue that I just finished. I do not care for this jelly roll at all. The same pattern is printed in every color and I never like sewing the same patterns together.

Not only are they printed the same, there must be 4 strips identical. Not my idea of a nice jelly roll. Does anybody remember Amy Butler’s fabric? This fabric was designed by her husband, David. We met both of them in Chicago at the Top Ten Entrepreneur event in 2008. Lovely people – I just don’t care much for David’s fabric. Haha!
Reader photos

Thanks to everyone who sends quilt pictures! Can I leave a little hint here about getting a good shot? Do not take the picture of your quilt in the bright sun – all you see are the quilting lines. Hang in bright shade or indirect lighting – try it and I think you’ll like the results.
That’s all from me!!

Love all the reader quilts and especially the black and white one with the animals. I hope Molly isn’t too sad and hope for her owners to soon be well and happy to have her home. It is so nice for you to take care of her~
More great quilts today! Such talented ladies. I love seeing all the different ideas. Carol, your baby quilts are darling. I love the growth chart. Bob’s card is in the mail. He looks much younger than 90. My dad will be 98 next month and he doesn’t look 98. It pays to have good genes! I don’t think I got his good genes. My dad watched the Masters and he’s never played golf. He just enjoys their talent. I’m glad Rory won too.
Praying for baby Elio.
The same reason old people shouldn’t stand in the sun when they have their pictures taken. Washes out all their color and makes them look like they have tons of wrinkles . . . And, then, there is Amy Butler’s husband’s fabric . . . every guy does that . . . buys the same shirt or socks or sweater over and over and over all in different shades of grey or brown. Ok . . . not EVERY guy . . . thank God for Kaffe Fassett!
Marlene – you’re absolutely right and that’s why I’m not going to use this fabric in a hard quilt – I’ll use it and be done with it.
I’m pleased that Mollie comes to visit you. Being under the weather is bad enough, but to have to worry is your furbaby being well taken care of is another issue, Thank you for helping them.
Dee – Marline actually had a stroke a couple weeks ago and is recuperating at home. More worry for Bob and she is quite a bit younger than him.
Got home from my quilt retreat yesterday. We were so lucky the rains were predicted about the time we’d be packing up and they held off till the middle of last night. I got my DD for April done. I’m so happy with it. It’s a queen size chicken quilt. I sent Mary a picture and I’m sure she will post it when she can. I am ready to layer another quilt but I needed white batting and didn’t have a piece big enough so bought some at a quilt store on the way to the retreat. Unfortunately one of the retreat goers was out walking in the gardens of the hotel on Saturday and tripped and fell. She had to have a hip replacement done yesterday. Poor thing. She’s recovering at the hospital. We were at Harrison Hot Springs for our retreat. There are around forty of us that attend. It’s always such a lovely time full of chatting and tons of inspiration. Always glad to return home to sleep in my own bed. That hotel has the most uncomfortable beds compared to any other hotel I’ve stayed in. Have a wonderful day ladies.
Teresa – yes, I will post tonight! A broken hip sure could put a damper on your fun time – it’s too bad but a good lesson and warning for all of us at this age to BE CAREFUL!
Baby came at 12:07 am today (Monday), a bit of a rough journey and is in NICU at the moment, so prayers for a quick resolution to his issues, please and thank you. Momma is of Italian descent, and a pastor, so baby is named Elio Isaiah. A nod to culture and faith.
Momma is doing well, Dad’s got two hours sleep, reality sets in quickly, ha ha.
New life, God is good.
Forgot to say, those two baby quilts were done by me. Black and white was for the baby shower, it was the hit of the shower. Nursery is “woodland themed”, got loads of applause and accolades, which makes a quilter’s heart go pitty-pat.
The growth chart quilt was just for fun. The numbered “logs” were less than fun, 24 of them button-hole stitch by hand. Took longer than anticipated!
Congratulations on Elio, your new grandson. What a blessing. Prayers for him to get through his hurdles and home with the new parents.
Thanks for letting us know and we will look for updates on his progress. Lots of love in the quilts and nice to know they were appreciated with applause.
Enjoyed the eye candy this morning.
I am home from retreat and back into routine with your blog first up with a cup of coffee. Had a great retreat. She is closing it at the end of the yr and we are scheduled for one more before it closes. I so love going to that area of NE. Visited 3 quilt stores over there and left some $$ at all 3! The last night we went to have dinner in small quaint town nearby. Food was excellent! I got a clue finished up on a mystery quilt. So close to assembly now! I also prepped some pieces for my Lucy Boston EPP blocks. We played dominoes every evening.
Carol’s Baby quilts are adorable. I take it they are for her new grand baby as she said in her comments she sewed 2. What a clever idea with the growth chart incorporated into one. The other one will be the every day well loved cuddly quilt. Now we wait for news on her new baby coming safely into this world.
I do remember Amy Butler and her husband as they were at Quilters Take Manhattan one year I was there. I liked her bright colors she designed but was not into his fabrics either.

Carol – ELIO!!! I love his name! We’ll be waiting for a picture – he will love his quilts and so will his mom. Hope his NICU issues are small
I enjoyed the Masters too. It is my favorite tournament. I was able to sit and do some EPP while I watched so that certainly added to my fun. I was pulling for Justin Rose myself. My parents were golfers and my husband and son also golf. In 2009 my daddy, my son, and I attended a Monday practice round during Masters Week. That course is unbelievably beautiful. It’s nice to hear that other quilters like watching the tournament too. Years ago I used to attend a quilt retreat where another lady who followed the PGA would always seek me out because I was the only one there who knew anything about golf. It made me feel special indeed! Love your blog!

Yes The Masters was great. It is the only golf I watch and was so happy Rory won again. I did feel bad for Rose though. He succumbed to the pressure I think..
have a great Monday everyone! ! It’s laundry day and sewing day for me 👏👏
On a different note entirely, I was just purusing Thrift Books. Your Civil War Remembered book is selling for $ 47.50. Guess it has become a classic….just love your patterns….they are timeless.
Susan – oh, good heavens!!!! I wish I had a case of them to sell for a reasonable price.
We watched the Masters and really enjoyed it. I’m happy that roy won. My husband is a big golfer. I never got into it. I’d rather stay home and quilt while he’s out with his buddies.
I am sure Mollie enjoyed her afternoon with you. Too bad her mom/dad are having health issues.
It was 71 and quite windy all day here; we managed to fit in our trip to Home Depot before the rain.
Great quilts today!
I agree Mary, it was a good weekend for golf! I’m pleased too that Rory won, particularly because his parents were here from Northern Ireland to see it in person!
I took the opportunity to sew in front of the tv and got quite a bit accomplished. I’m working on a patriotic quilt for our big celebration this summer.
Good wishes for a great week.
