I’ve heard there’s so many power outages in the Buffalo area!! It was so horrible when we had the power outages here in TX and my power was only out for 12 hrs (many out for days) and the temps were below zero. But we didn’t have the horrendous storms and feet of snow they had. I cannot imagine!! Sure hope it turns away from them.

My son is doing a neurosurgery fellowship until July in Buffalo. He went home over the holidays to his family in WV – was supposed to drive back today but there’s a driving ban in that county to keep people off the road. Hopefully able to get back tomorrow.

Prayers are being given for all those who have been affected by the horrible snow storms. Will never complain again about shoveling the white stuff.

Mary, is it possible that Buffalo posters are without power and unable to post?

Arrowhead Gramma – yes, I thought about that and we’ll have to wait to hear from them. Poor people.

I live just outside Buffalo NY and this has been an interesting storm. Snow storms don’t usually last this long, and we are supposed to be warming up. Today high of 26 and tomorrow up to 39 and climbing into next week. So as they say, This too shall pass. We have advisory in place and the town that the airport is in still has a travel ban and the Airport is closed until tomorrow morning.. But we are a city of Good neighbors and people are always helping each other thru things like this. I wish I could post the stories so you could all see what a great community we have here.

Maryann – if you want to send some of those stories to my email, I can post them from there.

I am 30 miles south of Buffalo in what they call ski country. We got about a foot of snow and high winds. Nothing like what Buffalo and the immediate surrounding areas got. What you see on TV is real not news hype. The death toll keeps rising. They need our prayers. We never lost power but some of my friends in surrounding areas did but only for several hours. We were very lucky. Thanks for checking on us. Since we live on a farm I feel we can be more prepared we have a generator and have to be prepared with animals to care for etc.

Sandra – tell me about your animals – it’s hard to do chores in bad weather, isn’t it?

Prayers for everyone that have been in this horrible storms path and those stranded in airports around the country. Stay safe and warm.

I hope our friends in Buffalo all are well but knowing the resilience of that community everyone is out helping everyone and I mean that. When that racially motivated mass shooting in a Tops supermarket happened, that community and local municipalities all came together for support by setting up food banks. Buffalo is an area of all ethnic backgrounds and one of my favorite memories of a young housewife is taking a trip to Broadway Market where I took my first bite of a fried bologna sandwich and bought a butter lamb for my Easter dinner. I never saw such amazing food choices in all ethnic booths. They are restoring the market to bring it back I heard recently. I saw a piece on the news about the Niagara River being very full right now with all the snow they have had so I imagine Niagara Falls is a powerful force right now and will in the coming days of this melting that will happen. I am thankful we are 45 min from Buffalo and didn’t get what they got. The Walmart stores were closed 10 min west of us due to trucks not being able to bring supplies here as well as help issue I am sure digging out. The fire trucks here took food to cook so some of the first responders there can finally get home for a break. I know in my area people were needing rides for dialysis treatment in the storm and hospitals and treatment centers were putting up nurses in hotels to keep them nearby to get back in. I saw a breakdown of the tragic deaths numbers on the CNN website and it is sad that many have died. I pray those who lost a loved one will find some Christmas hope as this was a Christmas to remember here.

This is our 53rrd anniversary. On Dec 27,1969 in. the Southern tier of Western NY, we had 36” of snow in 24 hours. In Cuba. They closed the Thruway and the airports were shut down all the way to and including the city. It was quite an event. Only the people who lived in Cuba made it to the wedding. The best man was snowed in in the city so my husband’s Dad was the best man. Nice😀. One to remember!

Happy Anniversary Diane! Is Ohio doing okay where you can go out to eat tonight? It was our 53rd anniversary this year too in August. I hope your friends and family back in Cuba are good with this storm.

Thank you, Mary, and Kathy. Sorry for the late response. You’ll see why in comments for this date 12/27/22. We had planned to,go out tomorrow night, but will wait a few days until it is in the 50’s.😃 Kathy, Cuba did not get hit as hard as Carol did.
Our roads are pretty good, but for some reason, the streets are horrible. I think the plows are sleeping😹😹

I’m with you on the rug thing, I mentioned it in a reply to your recent post saying that the rug complimented the rug that was on the floor. Will look forward to your post.
