Gracie, 10-24-24

I was still up posting the blog when Gracie showed up at 12:30! She’s fine – she looked at me like “what’s wrong with you, petting me, picking me up, nearly crying”? Ok, so I get really scared when any of my cats are missing and I hadn’t seen Gracie for 4 days. I’ll have a better day today – just wanted to let you all know.

With technology these days you can get AirTag collars for cats that are not that expensive. You would be able to track your outdoor cats, especially the wanderers. You track on your phone or iPad. It even tells you when it needs a new battery. Just a thought.
So glad she made it home safely.

Our fur babies are like children we worry about them! So relieved for you that she came back home. Wish she could tell you of her adventures for the past 4 days.

NORTH CAROLINA UPDATE: I took a quick overnight to check on my daughter in Hendersonville yesterday. The colors are absolutely amazing right now up there. I was astonished at the amount of damage to the very old trees there. All roads are cleared except where the roads washed out, the bridges damaged, and the tree debris was just pushed to the sides of the road or piled up in parking lots. Most businesses are open but still recovering.

Thanks for the update Barbara. I can’t imagine going through this so far inland. 💔

Oh, thanks for letting us know! Nerve-wracking when one of your beloved pets doesn’t come home—all the unhappy possibilities keep going through your mind. So glad she’s back!

So happy Gracie is home! Our Einstein went “walkabout” for 2 1/2 weeks years ago. Came home and seemed very well fed. It turns out he was schmoozing with the banker about a block and a half away! Our tabby was meowing at the kitchen door one day and when I opened it, in strolled Einy. He spent the next 15 minutes, meowing–telling us all about his adventures, chomping kibble, slurping water, and winding around my ankles…all at the same time! I’m not sure he lived up to his name, but we were really glad he was home.

WELCOME HOME, GRACIE! Sleep well, Mary.

i am so glad gracie is home again. i know you are relieved.
today i cut out the little boy quilt using a pattern called ‘five minute quilt’ – a free pattern from http://www.quiltexpressions.com . the fabric is a paler blue with helicoptors, planes, scooters, back-hoes, cars, trains, etc. i decided to add borders to it so cut those out. the blocks are pieced and ready to make sure they are the same size. i needed a break so quit. the cat is happy cuz he wants company while he watches tv news. hugs to all, patti in florida (who thanks you all for compliments)

Mary . . .Oh, this is great news! Give her a kiss on the head for me. Three will be really happy. Janice, Traverse City area

Glad to hear she is OK. You will have to have a talk with her and tell her not to scare you like that again!

WHAT a relief! Only pet people will realize that these are people and that they are our family. One of my kitties disappeared for 3 days and in was driven to tears. Yep. When he came home he looked at me like I was crazy doing a happy dance.

    It is a stunningly beautiful
Fall day in the Ohio Hocking Hills. I hope you are having a grand day too.
I’m happy that Gracie has reappeared easing your worries.

Hi Mary, glad Gracie came home! One of my cats about 35 years ago disappeared for a couple of days, found her in the drawer under the boys bunk bed! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

I can hear your sigh with relief! It’s like one of your children not coming home. That’s the reason my Rory doesn’t go out, it would break my heart if he got lost. Besides he is white and would look like a big target for coyotes or eagles.
You should be able to rest easy now.

My kitties always insist on going outside and I’m always scared that a coyote will see them. I run to the door so many times until they are back in.

Oh man! Gracie is like a teenager that comes home on break from college and thinks they can come home whenever! You need to have a serious talk with her! Tell her that she scared you really bad!!
Love all your pictures you posted!

So glad to hear Gracie is ok and apparently unconcerned by her absence. Maybe she’s been restless with the weather changes. But glad the family is all back together!

Oh my, these teenage cats don’t realize staying out for four days is just unacceptable! 😳 I am so glad she is back; you don’t need anything else to worry about. Thanks for letting us know, Mary 🥰

I’m so happy For you that Gracie finally showed up! If she could only tell you what she was up to…
Hope you got a better night’s rest.

I’m very happy that Gracie showed up! It is really upsetting when our animals go missing. Seems like every day I see postings on our local Facebook page about a dog “escaping” and has anyone seen it. Such an awful thing to go through. Years ago our cat at the time, Ricky, who was an indoor cat, disappeared. We couldn’t imagine how he got out or what had happened. About four days later he showed up, in the basement! No way in or out but there he was. We have since decided he got up in the walls of the house and thank God, found his way out! That was a very happy day! Jan in MA

Our Emma did a few disappearing acts. Once my husband was canvassing the neighborhood trying to find her. Come to find out, she was in a cupboard having a grand nap.

Glad Gracie returned safe and sound.

Oh I’m so glad!! One of my cats disappeared years ago for a week only to show up the day before Christmas Eve! He had to go to the emergency vet but after meds he recovered completely. I remember the fear and anxiety when he was missing and the relief when he showed up. I’m so glad Gracie showed up safe and sound!
