I knew this looked familiar – here’s mine.

I searched the woodshed for Gracie today but only found Tim and Greta.

I had to do some different maneuvering to be able to comment on the last couple of posts. I have no idea why. That has not happened to me before. Any way, I am so relieved that Gracie is home. I would love to know what she has been up to.
There was a small quilt that inspired me so much. You never know what will catch your eye. It was displayed under a window, on top of a cabinet, I think, with a beautiful Halloween collection. What inspired me were the rich colors, especially the dark blue and the orange. What a lovely combination! I will now search my stash for dark blue and orange. Thanks so much for the idea. I always look forward to the things every one posts!
Patti in Florida what is an angel group? I’m happy you are content in your home. I too love all the ladies on the blog!
Our social life is going to the eye doctor or the dentist or the medical doctor, well you get the idea. Then We go to Costco and out for lunch and the pharmacy. If I want to go to he quilt store I most times go with a friend but Jay does ride along and hangs out while I do my business 😂🥴
The other side of our social life is our family. Tonight we are going to our daughters for a grandsons 23rd birthday. He wanted steaks at home! I said, we will bring our steaks and apple crisp to share. Food etc. has gotten expensive and i think it is fine to bring our own meat don’t you? The other grandma texted the same and said she is bring coleslaw. Bring your own bottle and meat! Heehee
I’m not sure we are going to do very well in the cool weather. It we 66* and my hubby had on his winter coat. The southeast wind was cold in his defense. If we go south, i will need a trailer 😂😂😂😂
my angel group is a charity group that a friend and i built in 1994. we called ourselves ‘quilting angels’ and for the longest time all of our donations were done anonymously. then we started using labels that said donated by the quilting angels and a date. mr. ed designed the first labels. we still use labels to this day. the totals at our last meeting included donations of 6,962 quilts, 1,599 placemats and 1,579 pillowcases. we started out with five (5) people and since the pandemic we are now at a steady group of twenty (20) people. yes, we are prolific. for the first ten years, i quilted most of the quilts on my longarm. now we all do what we can physically do – i.e., some piece, some quilt, some baste, some bind. it all adds up. the thing we’ve lost in this last several years of growth is that the group is not as close as it once was. but it is still going strong and i think we do good for our community. hope that answers your questions. patti in florida p.s. the things i miss the most about not being out and about is not making the quilt shows or the quilt shops. so much inspiration there.
great show of quilts and cats today. so glad to hear that gracie is home and safe (she was probably always safe just not where you could see – cats are like that). love the continuation of fall decor. it’s just so warm and inviting. my cat even had me follow him into the sewing area yesterday so he could nap and i could sew. mr. ed thinks he is training me for something.
mary mentioned to me that i get so much done. i want to explain. i am pretty much homebound which means i go to doctor and/or my one angel group once monthly. i don’t do grocery shopping, don’t do laundry, don’t cook much (only sometimes now). i took mary’s example and have a housecleaner that comes once every three weeks. i don’t do things that require lots of stamina as i have little. but … but i can sit and sew. i can dream of all the ways to use my fabric (and there is lots and lots). i have a longarm upstairs that i can’t get to. i don’t have a place large enough downstairs to baste smallish quilts. i did baste the pumpkin on my machine table yesterday.
i have patterns that i’ve printed from the internet as well as printed patterns. i need to organize that stuff but would rather sew so i just keep truddling (is that a word) along. the kennel quilts are small and are needed for the fur babies that were lost or misplaced due to the hurricanes. it’s just a different way to help. my extended family has lots of quilts and don’t appear interested in more. should i stop quilting? no way, jack! this is what i do. so i will bless others just as long as i am able. these are easy things that go together quickly and don’t require a ton of thought.
one of these days i will pull out my ‘dear jane’ quilt and decide how to quilt it. it will NOT be handquilted. i already know that. yes, that finish is on my list for sometime.
if i did not sew and quilt, i would probably be stark-raving mad now. i don’t watch a ton of tv, i read but tend to do that in the evenings (because i ‘should’ be more productive during daylight hours). mr. ed and i don’t entertain any more. by the time he gets home from work he is ‘peopled’ out.
all of you all are my friends and my guild that i can share with. i draw inspiration from you in all your different endeavors and hope to inspire you a bit with some of my doings.
think i might actually cut for a little boy quilt today. we’ll see. happy quilting, patti in florida
Patti, You’re so right about this blog of friends. We get inspiration and ideas and some laughs from everyone’s stories and sharing pictures. You certainly do inspire us. It sounds like not much stops you from enjoying every day to the fullest. I always look forward to your comments so, keep on quilting and sharing.
patti, you are inspiring me to make some kennel quilts to use up my stash. So thoughtful of you to help the critters!
Treadling along? Like using a treadle sewing machine? Good use of words!
Such a lovely, lovely post, Patti!
You should add that you are a writer as well as a quilter.
thank you to all of you for your comments, patti in florida
gracie ran off with the traveling salesman!
tis the season for such in the kitty world. mine are especially naughty.
that made me laugh. i actually had a cat that took a ride in the back of a uhaul truck and ended up in a city about 20 miles away. the collar she wore made sure she made it home. patti in florida
Amazing how different colors and placement make such a difference in how quilts look. That is why we quilters love quilting and looking at quilts. Glad Gracie is back. Like one reader, our cat was an indoor and outdoor cat. She loved to be outdoors when we were working outside. But one night outside ended her night time outdoor time. She got into a cat fight and ended up with a big abscess. The vet cleared it up with my help with medications. But she stayed in after that and loved sleeping in the bed with our youngest son. Going to be another nice day today. My husband will work on leaf removal. My back is out of sorts, so I am limiting my outdoor time.
Nice work, Teresa on your quilt!
Mary I’m so sorry you can’t find Gracie. As a lifelong cat owner, I can appreciate how that is. Over the years, I’ve always had cats that went inside and outside. After vet bills, I decided that I would make them stay in at night. Seems like somebody was always getting in a fight and getting chewed up. The two cats I have now are two years old and I am 72 so they are indoor only cats. I’m afraid if they live to be fairly old, I will be too old to try to find them outside. The good thing is that this house has a lovely screen porch and we have woods right behind the backyard so there’s a lot of activity out there with birds and squirrels. So Sam and Olly have a good time hanging out on the porch when the weather is good.
Thank you Laurie in NC. This was a block that Mary posted awhile back. I find it interesting that we both made the same number of blocks. Mary added the wonderful pieced border. I love her softer colorway too!
Teresa, I love both your and Mary’s colorways! You both have a really good eye for how to combine colors/fabrics. I also liked your 9-patch that you are sending to Barbara in South Carolina–another wonderful mix of fabrics.
Thanks for the quilt show. Isn’t it amazing when a quilt is made with two different colour ways how different it looks. I really like both. I hope you find Gracie soon. Have a wonderful day. Today will be a beautiful sunny day.
