Happy Birthday, Susannah! 10-26-24

Twenty four years ago tonight Susannah was born outside in 29 degree weather to a mom who rejected her in favor of the bigger twin.

And that was the moment I fell in love with a tiny goat and decided to take her to the house with me.

Last summer to celebrate my 75th birthday I wrote her story in the book Oh, Susannah! The book is still available for $15 including postage. Without a question this was the most fun I’ve ever had in my whole life.

You can order your copy of Oh, Susannah! for $15 cash or check only sent to Mary ETHERINGTON 2345 Palm Ave, Garner, IA 50438.

And here are the Christmas patterns available for $5 each plus a SASE for each one.

I’ll never forget you, Susannah.

Mary- Is the Christmas tree a pattern available as well as the Candlelight and Holly and the Christmas Wreath Door Banner? I may have missed the mention of it. My apologizes if I’m being repetitive.

Love the Oh Susannah book. She sure was a cute little goat. Glad you took care of her.

    Take care everyone.

Yes, that’s the pattern I was referring to.
        Thanks.
SASE on its way along with $5, of course.
        Thanks again, Mary.

        Take care everyone. 🍁

I love my Oh Susannah book❤️. I looked for her in the Goat Gazette for years. She was so tiny, but feisty! She certainly provided fun, wonderful times and memories. I am taking my book to our sewing group tomorrow because we have a member who raises goats and makes goat soap! Cold here thus AM, but sunny. 🌞

Mary, the size of a can of coke! That’s the size of a cat! Wow!
Yesterday about 3:30 p.m., Costco called that my real glasses were in, these are my real glasses after cataract surgery! So nice to have my progressive bifocals back!! We went out for pizza after picking them up. Yum! A nice surprise outing!
    Have a good Sunday!

I can see how sweet Susannah was a joy to raise. There are two goats at a farm market across from us at camp in a large covered pen who became an attraction to families. They are named Apple and Cinnamon. Such fun listening to them in the morning while they watch everyone come and go. There’s a rescue farm in that area and I’ve resisted going to visit cause I’ll come away wanting something! I do love driving by it and seeing the horses by the road and people up on the fence boards petting them. It’s nice you’ve honored Susannah with her book.

Such a sweet book and memory that you made of that special little goat. A one of a kind story that’s for sure. I must get out the book and read it again today!

What a beautiful birthday tribute to your dear Susannah. A true love story. We are all so lucky to have our animals in our lives and she was lucky to have you in her life.

what a sweet memory and testimony for susannah. you did so good stepping in to be her mom. not everyone would have done that.
susan k, i enjoyed your story about the baby quilts made for donation.
always enjoy hearing the doll stories. that was never very big for me. i had the original gerber doll and i remember chewing off her curl. my sisters both had chatty cathy dolls. i had the fake barbie but didn’t really spend time with it. i was outside with the boys playing marbles in the dirt, kickball, baseball, football, soccer, roller skating and bike riding all the time. otherwise i was reading. or learning to play piano.
today i started putting my new 5-patch block together. got the idea from cathy L of iowa. can’t remember her blogspot. decided it wasn’t long enough so cut enough more and made two more rows. will add them tomorrow. then hopefully i’ll be able to get upstairs and pull backs for it and the other finished top.
was ready to cave on my angel challenge due in december. as i was contemplating calling in and saying there was no way i could get a top done, the phone rang. and guess what ‘ i was using my debit card in saudi arabia buying plane tickets.’ i don’t think so. told them i’d call my own bank. no one got me but it did change my train of thought. i don’t have to make the quilt big. i can make small ones. one set is blue/white pineapple blocks. the other set is a bunch of quarter square triangles, about 6″ finished. i can make baby quilts or wall hangings. maybe table runners or placemats. so will rethink those tomorrow.
now i’m going to watch the next half of the orlando magic game. we won the first two games, but are doing terrible on this one. they obviously need my undivided attention. happy dreams, patti in florida p.s. mary, i’m a bit early for coffee in the morning.

When I get depressed about life, I get your book, read it again, and start perking up. What a wonderful story about a wee little goat.

Jo – she was such a “wee little goat” – her body was about the size of a can of coke with legs added on.

Very special memories of a special goat. You have such a caring heart. My son is like you and has such a big heart when it comes to animals.
