Here’s a bit of fun! 5-9-24

Gloria has decorated her home for spring and sent pictures for all of us to enjoy. I really need a new picture of Caitlin from her.

Oh, how fun, Gloria! Thank you so much!

I need to start a collection of kids and pets!

Here are my pets – ha! Hazel goes in with them every day – and I never have to worry. And yes, she’s a terrier and they’re usually very hard on poultry. She started going to the barn with me 7 years ago as a baby.

And here it is after midnight again! I don’t know when to go to bed it seems.

Thank you Gloria for the photo tour of yout beautiful home. The ants and food quilt is so cute. It made me smile. It appears that Hazel and the chicks don’t each other at all.

big thanks to gloria for sharing her decorating with us. she has the ‘gift’. seeing all those hanging quilts, i thought they were ‘to be quilted’ but i see they are finished. good on you! all the reader quilts are great. love the fun of the ants with the fruit. only in a quilt – not in person. off to bed for me. patti in florida

I hope the ladies who came for tea (and left their stoles on their chairs) enjoyed a tour of Gloria’s home! That has to be my favorite picture, no matter how much I like the old toys and Jewel Tea dishes.
Kids and Pets sounds like a great idea for your next collection, Mary! Kris

Gloria, thank you for sharing your wonderful collections and decorating skills! The antique toys and game boards bring back so many memories. And who could see that rack of quilts and not want to take each one off the hanger and look at it!
Thanks to all the other readers who sent pictures and to Mary for
    posting them!
    Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

Sandy – Tiaras to go with the mink stoles. Let me check my basement safe room. I’m sure to have a little something I could wear. Of course, it would probably have the year 2000 written on it in tarnished glitter! Ha,ha. Be sure to tell us about the quilt show whether you are viewing or helping. Kris

Wowza! There is sure a lot to see at Gloria’s house! I imagine she has fun curating her displays. Thanks for sharing, Gloria. And thanks for posting it all, Mary.

I so enjoy all the pictures and thanks to Gloria for sharing her lovely home once again with us. I never tire of seeing how people decorate inside and outside their treasured dwellings. Someone has been busy sewing lovely runners. Very nice.
Lilac Festival has started in our area. My trees smell so nice. It’s cloudy here so going to stay inside and sew on a CT wallhanging Give Us Our Day Our Daily Bread. Like Diane, Squeek and Buddy in Ohio say, it’s time to work on work on DD projects.

Gloria certainly has the knack and the decorations! What really made my jaw drop was the picture of the quilts, all on hangers, looking so nice and organized. Thank you Mary, and thank you, Gloria.

All i can say is, Oh my goodness! What a collection and what skill it took to put it all together. Really beautiful and so much to see. I had to go back to look at the picture with the fur stoles as I had missed them the first time through. Even JRT’s can be taught not to hurt the chickens thank goodness.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Pat – yes, JRT’s are smart but stubborn and Hazel is a good example. Sometimes she’s so naughty and so annoying and then she has those simply heavenly moments – just not enough of them maybe. Haha!!

Gloria, awesome deco! Enjoyed that tour!

Quilts and children and pets so enjoyable with my coffee this morning. I bought flowers yesterday so will be working on those today but with temps above 70 it will be so enjoyable. I have had only an hr here or there for sewing room time.

So many lovely collections on display at Gloria’s home. I admired the quilts and the wooden wheelbarrow. The watermelon quilt is special with its design and fabric.

Thank you Gloria for the wonderful tour of your lovely home. Thanks, Mary for a wonderful blog, we enjoy every one.
I’ve thought about organizing my quilt tops with back and batting on hangers like Gloria’s…hers are finished.
The readers quilts are fun today. I always wanted to stencil ants above the baseboard in my kitchen. A watermelon runner with ants sounds fun.
    Happy Mothers Day to all.

Jo – the finished quilts are hung on jumbo hangers from Amazon. Even a queen size quilt fits nicely on these hangers.

Thank you Gloria for sharing. What fantastic pieces of old. Carolyn b Shenandoah Valley VA

What a wonderful tour of Gloria home, thank you for sharing with us. I have so many antique board games and I need to hang them somewhere, so I can enjoy them every day. So clever to put them in the stairwell. It was cold here yesterday and a day for making pork roast, carrots, taters and onions in the crock pot. Home smells like comfort food. Hope we see the sunshine this week end.

Woke up to cloudy skies and it was pretty cool at 50 degrees when I fed the chickens. Now the sun is out and temps are rising! Yay! I am so sad to read the news of the deaths and devastation from such awful weather around the country. Our local weatherman was saying that our tornado season is usually during the summer months, but we are fortunate that they are usually in the western part of the state far away from us. Gloria, you must have so much fun decorating for the seasons! I especially love your foyer with the grand curved stairway and your collection of game boards! They look great there! Thanks for sharing with all of us. The quilts and table runners are beautiful, and I love the idea of kids and pets for a subject, Mary! Geesh, I’m going to have to start checking to see who’s still up when I go to bed, ha-ha! Last night I think I just was overtired from pulling and digging up bittersweet from our perennial beds. What a job! Was grateful when my husband came out and helped but I don’t think I slept until after 2 am. Jan in MA

Jan – I know I didn’t get to sleep til 2:30! I hate that I can’t sleep – what a waste of time to lay there and keep tossing and turning. But if I get up all three dogs are up and barking, going outside and there’s one person in this household who wants to sleep.

What a beautiful home, Gloria. Love all your collections.Had to go back and see the furs around your table. What fun!
Always love to see everyone’s quilts. The girl with the puppy was a great shot!
Keep safe from the weather. Too many tornadoes in Ohio this spring for me!!

looking at Gloria’s home is like going back to my past with my grandmothers, and aunts. I love antiques, quilts, toys, dogs, beautiful dishes (Jewel Tea).
