I want this front page! 10-6-24

This is the front page of the Indianapolis Star this morning and I’d love to have it. Anybody in Indianapolis willing to send it to me?

I live in a western “suburb” of Indy and have asked around, but most folks only get the Sunday paper and this picture was on a Monday paper. If I happen to find someone with it, I’ll send it to you. I hadn’t watched any sports for several years and when you spoke of Caitlin so often, I had to see for myself and I have to say, I really enjoy the games! I played in HS 50 years ago, but the women of today have elevated their sport. It’s good to see them going after and living their dreams.

Vivienne – I’m so glad I’ve encouraged another person to be a Caitlin fan – haha! I’m so bored now that the games are over however the Lynx and the Sun play tonight – and I’ll be watching!

Patti – that bit about making all the sandwiches and the Red Cross throwing them is so frustrating! The flood in Rock valley iowa was also devastating but in the scheme of size it was very small compared to NC. Anyway what I am getting to, there were volunteers and church groups that came in and fed people and volunteers every day! They set up on our church parking lot while volunteers were cleaning our church basement, and they fed anyone, it was appreciated! The Faith reformed church had food for flood victims every day for days, I really don’t remember how long. No group was turned away. Then that big food truck (the name skips me) came in and fed flood victims for at least a week. Who is worried about what kitchen it was cooked in., probably a lot cleaner than their favorite restaurants! Grrr! Now I’m off the soap box!
I’m early worried about friends who live in Florida with this next hurricane! 🌀 😢
It was 31 degrees this morning! Jay covered his tomatoes and we carried the flowers in. No rain in the forecast. 70 for a high today.

here is something else to think about. these storms have ravaged the pecan groves (made dh buy a bunch of pecans today). it takes them a long time to come back. i know i love pecans in baked good all year round. they’ve also said that peaches were damaged. any crop that is grown in those areas has surely taken a hit. expect to pay more. patti in florida

I don’t know about others but at our local newspaper you can buy copies of back issues. Maybe that’s an option.

I live west of Indianapolis. We do not take the Indy Star but I will see if I can locate a copy.

What a great front page picture of Caitlin. The picture sure shows the joy she has when playing basketball, and in living color.
My daughter and I just returned yesterday from a 9 day trip back to Iowa to visit a granddaughter’s family and visit some of my former neighbors and quilting friends. Knowing that it will probably be my last trip was kind of bittersweet. Several friends were having serious health problems so I felt blessed that I was in good health and could make the trip to see them. Of course we also squeezed in a few quilt shops along the way and bought squash and lots of apples at the orchards in Wisc. We were a bit disappointed that the leaves had not yet turned the beautiful fall colors, especially along the Mississippi. I think we were about a week or more too early but it was still a beautiful drive. We were oblivious to the devastation in the south until we turned on the news at the motel one evening. Made me feel guilty that were were enjoying the great trip when so many were suffering the loss of all their possessions and even the lives of friends and relatives. I was happy to find out in church this morning that we can offer help to them through our missions outreach program. Of course, prayers are also needed. Hopefully by now FEMA, Red Cross, and the National Guard are all there to help. Have enjoyed the pictures that everyone on the blog is sending of quilts and fall arrangements. I think it is my favorite time of year———until winter arrives, and then I love winter. I guess you could say my favorite time of year is whatever season it is when I’m asked that question. I love them all.
Happy fall, everyone, Jeanne in Co.

That page is dated Monday, September 30. We only get the Star weekend package, Thursday through Sunday. But I have a friend that I think takes the Indy Star daily—I’ll see if she might have it.

Sue – the person who sent it to me said it was today’s but I see the date of September 30 now. Sorry.

I’ll be looking for that address. I don’t even know what I have around, but I’m gonna look. Our local farmers are harvesting now too. Lots of dust!!!
