Kids and Pets, 5-13-24

This has been so fun to get these emailed photos – thanks to anyone who sent one or more. What’s more fun than kids with pets?

Tell me whose picture this is – I see a grand piano in the background.
And one quilt

If you’re a Women’s Basketball fan, check out the ESPN special called Full Court Press – it was fun to relive those games. Lisa Bluder, the Iowa Hawkeye coach, announced her retirement today. We’ll all miss her! No $9000 outfits for the big game for her!! I know a coach who did however – Lisa Bluder is another example of Iowa Nice.

Oh no, Lisa can’t be retiring. I can’t blame her though. She’s had a great coaching career and coached some great women on her teams. Next year won’t be the same without her and Caitlin, will it? They were both wonderful “Iowa Nice” ambassadors for the women’s basketball teams and for the State of Iowa. I wonder who the lucky lady will be that gets chosen as Lisa’s replacement?!?!
The pictures of kids and pets have shown so much love between each of them. I’ve loved seeing them, but it just makes me want another puppy all the more. Pets are great for kids, but they are also great for old ladies like me. They give so much joy to all ages.
Spring is finally here in Colo. We got a nice spring rain yesterday and I think more is predicted. Everyone on the blog, except Sandy in New Zealand is probably looking forward to a late spring and upcoming summer vacations. Aren’t you heading into fall there, Sandy?
Have a blessed week everyone. Jeanne in Colo.
PS, Mary, your geraniums along your railing are beautiful, a great addition to your welcoming entry and ramp. You have many summers in the future when you can still
    enjoy geraniums hanging there.

Jeanne – we sure will miss Coach Bluder! The assistant coach Jan Jensen is taking over and I’m sure she’s a good coach – she has many years of assisting for Bluder but who doesn’t love Lisa Bluder – yes, a great example of Iowa Nice. Caitlyn’s first regular season game is tonight on ESPN2.

Mary, one picture is cuter than the next! The little boy with the chicken is just sweet. It’s 3:30 am here and I can’t sleep. I’ve been fighting a light case of pneumonia the last week. It was nice to see your post.

Susan – I can identify with being awake at 3:30 am but I am really sorry you have pneumonia!

Susan – are you feeling any better? How long is this supposed to last? How in the world did you get pneumonia???

We have been in Cincinnati since last Friday for my nephew’s graduation. Driving back to Kansas City now. We have to be home for Caitlin’s first big game! Saw where Coach Bluder is retiring; makes me sad. Enjoying all the pets and kids photos. That big red cat is as big as that child!

Thanks Mary! I didn’t know about Kate’s game. We will definitely watch. I hope Kate gets to play.

That is the biggest yellow cat I’ve ever seen. It looks like a struggle to hold. The boy with the 2 “lap puppies ” made me smile.

All photos are so fun! Love the rocket quilt too, it’s beautiful.
Yesterday we had nearly 80 degrees and today will be in the sixties! Planted many flowers but still so many to go! Have a great day everyone!

Great photos of kids and their pets! I had to look close at that picture of the little boy with what I thought at first was a deer but now I believe it’s a baby kangaroo?! So cute! The orange cat is HUGE! I’m sending one of my granddaughter with their new great dane pup, Major. Susan, feel better soon! What a lousy time to have pneumonia! Not that there’s a good time but I hope you get outside in the sun and soak up some Vitamin D! Jan in MA

It doesn’t matter how old the “child” is. They are all great. I’m kind of partial to the chickens?? And the pets and their kids, too. They all make this world a better place.
We’re having a spring shower and it is great. Out here we’re so thankful for the rain as it has been drought conditions and every drop helps. It isn’t cold so splashing in the puddles is great.
No time is a good time to be sick. Get better fast.
Take care. Betty in Rapid City

HI Mary, Thank you so much for the advice about the Calming Collar. We put one on Squeak yesterday and she is doing better. She is a little skittish about the collar, but we’re hoping this calms her down from scratching and biting. I forgot to take pics of the grand daughters with their Chinchillas on Mother’s Day. I will take one soon. They are really cute little critters:)
Cloudy and dark here all day, but no rain, YET! Then, I guess we will have it for 36 hours. Oh joy. It does keep things green.
I am working on several quilting projects I hope to take pics of soon.

Diane – it’s time to change the collar on Fluffy Bun but I do think it has made a difference. She’s much calmer and hasn’t attacked anybody since I put it on.
