I’ve known Brenda as a customer for quite a number of years but when a “Brenda” wrote a comment about face planting while trying to save a baby goat, I didn’t know she was THAT Brenda.
I have seen all the bloody pictures and they’re horrible and I’m not posting any of them…except one of a healing face belonging to Brenda.

This is one of the better ones, I must say. And then there’s all her other injuries, too – broken bones in so many places. This is from Brenda:
Brenda Jeffers – 64 Years old, husband, Paul. We have 4 kids – 2 girls and 2 boys and 4 grands – 1 granddaughter (she was born on my 50th birthday) and 3 grandsons. I live on the farm where I grew up as I’m an only child. I am an avid animal lover although due to health reasons, we only have three cats right now – 1 tuxedo – Barney (his sister died on Christmas Eve) who is almost 17 and two black cats (not related). I named them Laverne and Shirley (if you know, you know). I love to quilt and do wool stitchery. I still attend the church where I’ve always attended (where my parents attended before me). My husband and I are active in our church, participating in the various activities. I love to plan, create, and cook a meal for friends (and anyone I know who needs one). I also enjoy reading.
I am a retired OR nurse but I do teach online for a university in Utah.

When I read about her injuries and see the bloody pictures, I am mortified. She has such a long road to recovery and she can’t drive, of course, and neither can her husband. I know getting cards in the mail would be so helpful –

I just have to add another picture because her favorite cat is included. The cat’s name is BARNEY!!!

I hope you’ll keep in touch with us, Brenda, and let us know how your recovery is going. looking at your poor face is a punch in the gut. I have a friend in SC who sadly looked very similar to you a few years ago.
I also have a thank you to pass along from Judy Emmons on behalf of Jennifer, a previous card recipient.
What a great joy the 49 plus cards brought to Jennifer! She loved getting all this mail! The day she got the first group of cards in the mail she told me” I never get any mail and today I got cards from people I don’t even know”! Some of you sent her small gifts that included a Viking colored knit hat, a Viking heart with a football on it, and several small patchwork prayer squares. Jennifer and her husband, Al are just blown away by the generosity from all of you! I can tell you first hand that your card and notes meant a lot! Thank you so much for having Jennifer be part of a card shower!
Please greet Jennifer from us!
Remember my friend Barbara who lost her beloved dog, Louie? She’s now dog sitting her daughter’s dog named Snooky, who also sleeps between them and she SNORES!! I said they’d better have a big bed.

And this quilt –

It’s too late, this post is too long and I’m too tired to tell this quilt’s story. Tomorrow is another day.

I will send a card to Brenda as well. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
Brenda’s card is hitting the mailbox today!
Hope Brenda heals and will be smiling soon.
Are there any watchers of All Creatures Great and Small on Sunday nights on public TV? Since there are animal lovers on here, I thought there might be some fans of the show.
Carol, my husband and I love All Creatures Great and Small.
Prayers of healing to Mary and Brenda.
Carol – I wouldn’t miss it!!!! Becky and I discuss each episode afterwards – we have decided, however that this season is not quite as good as previous seasons and maybe it could be Siegfried whom is being quite bristly
I think the time jump has affected the storyline. I wonder if it will come out what is bothering Siegfried because he is kind of a grumpy grump.
Carol – ah, yes, that could be it! I wish he and Mrs. Hall would get together, don’t you?
I’m on the fence about Mrs. Hall and Siegfried getting together. Maybe if the series comes to an end, that would be a good way to end it. I just don’t know where it would go after they got together. I do enjoy their conversations.
Love the series, loved the books when they first came out. Siegfried can be cantankerous, for sure. Agreed, the transition from last season to this wasn’t as smooth as it could have been. It’s still a Sunday night of fine viewing with Miss Scarlet and Creatures back to back.
Oh, what a terrible fall Brenda took. It hurts just seeing the pictures you shared but I’m glad to see her kitty is helping in her recovery. Snooky is so cute! I love it that Barbara is sharing her bed with her, and I hope it’s a big bed too! It’s finally a beautiful day here – 33 degrees! Yay! Feels so nice. They’re predicting another deep freeze over the weekend but for now I’ll enjoy the next few 30 degree days. Jan in MA
Poor Brenda! I do hope that the goat is okay after what Brenda went through to help it! Prayers that Brenda recovers quickly and completely!
Nice quilts today – I’ll wait to hear more. I did get a quilt top ready for final borders last week while it was tough to go anywhere. Travel is still limited – and the snow is not melting any time soon. This is the coldest and snowiest winter that our part of Ohio has had in a long time. I saw a report this morning that Lake Erie is now 95% frozen over – it went from 3% to this in less than a month which the report said is the fastest in the author’s memory. I can’t get to the bird feeders to fill them, unfortunately… I did leave lots of seed heads on my perennials last fall so I’m hoping that will help them!
Poor Brenda. I’m glad she has her family around her. To live in one place is special. I hope the card showers sends cheers her up.
Going out today after all this cold weather! We have a group of ladies who meet at the public library to work on their various fiber art projects. They are all so friendly.
Prayers for Brenda. What a horrible accident!
Gloomy here today but temps not too bad. Sew day here with a couple of friends.. Hoping for news of Tim?
Mary,
Morning! We are on our 21st day in a row of some amount of snowfall in southeast Michigan! I heard this on the news this morning. I don’t remember this happening in my lifetime before. I will say my trees and yard are beautiful. Yesterday morning the sunrise over our lake was so beautiful. It reminded me of an orange and white creamsicle. I’ll try to send a photo!
Snooky looks pretty darn comfortable on that chair! Taking her spot of the bed in the middle of the bed made me chuckle.
The quilts shown today are beautiful. Wanted to reply to comments about my embroidered blocks on my quilts from a few days ago. My long arm quilter quilts around the blocks, not over the hand embroidery. She is so good about it. She is a long time friend and neighbor Of my moms and is now 82. I don’t know how much longer she will continue long arm work but I hope a long time!
Have a great day everyone. I’ll be sending Brenda a card today. Please take care of yourself, Brenda. 🌻
I am so sorry for what Brenda is going through! Praying for healing 🙏 Will definitely reach out to Brenda. Mary, I hope you are managing with your shoulders. I hope Tim makes an appearance soon.
Poor Brenda! So much pain! I am glad to hear she is recovering, but it’s surely a slow process. I am praying for the remainder of healing to be quicker.
Mary, is Brenda’s last name Jeffers or Jeffries? You have it as both. Thank you for not showing us the bloody photos. As a person who also got a broken nose during a fall, I can testify that there’s alot of blood. I really like that quilt with the black sashing. I also would like to see a photo of the whole quilt. I hope the maker will send you a photo. I’m sure that it is a quilt that I can make. We had two weeks in Hawaii. The weather was great. Unfortunately, on our third day there on a night walk I took a tumble. My foot that I twisted swelled up and turned black and blue. After we arrived home, I went to the doctor. As I expected, I had broken my foot. They don’t do anything for it. So I hobble around. I’m trying to figure out if I can sew or not as it’s my right foot that I use on the foot pedal. Grrr…
Martha – and I thought I proofread my post! Dang. Brenda’s last names is Jeffers. Thank you for catching that. You hobbling and me with my shoulders are a real pair, aren’t we?
Oh poor Brenda! I’m writing her a card now. My heart hurts for her. My dad (97 yrs. old) tripped on the corner of the bedspread last year and face planted. He didn’t break any bones or have any cuts but his face was black, blue and purple for quite a while. I did get rid of that bedspread. I have a fear of falling and I try to be careful but falls do happen! Love the quilts today.
Poor Barbara! How did she get so many injuries rescuing a goat? What breed of dog is the one you showed a picture of? I have never seen one anything like him! We spent 2 weeks in Bali. Just got home a week ago. There were so many street dogs. Many of them looked hungry. It was so hard to not be able to help them.
Janette, Snooky is a breed of Bulldog.
