More Rain, 4-3-26

Glorious rain – maybe another inch or so and the wind from the storm went down – calm and quiet outside now – and everything smells so good. It rained and stormed for the entire first game – I love a good thunderstorm but Hazel is a basket case.

Just finished watching a series on Netflix – His and Hers. I really liked it but even tho I just finished it earlier tonite I’m not sure I could explain how all the characters were connected.

I’m getting my next read from Amazon tomorrow – I hope it’s good – the title is a real tease – more tomorrow.

The first step in my mindless quilt – can you guess my next step?

I love everything about this – the color palette and that gentle curved piecing. Oh,my heart!

Gotta sign off – this game is getting exciting!

Thanks for your comments on my quilt! The pattern is Shoreline by Modern Quilt Studio. It’s made by piecing the long strips, then using a template to trace and cut the curves, then sewing the curved strips together. A tip: use freezer paper to trace or print the template so you can just press it to the strips. Much easier than working with template plastic.

This blog is so much fun because I get to live vicariously on a farm (I’m a city girl), see a quilt show every day, and meet lovely quilters from all over the country!

I love your quilt, Becky! I especially like the little bits of peachy pink – chef’s kiss! Modern Quilt Studio has interesting patterns. Thanks, too, for the hint about using freezer paper.

Mary, my guess for your next step: cutting triangles from those strip sets. But I don’t know how they’ll be oriented.

My Easter will be at my daughter’s house a few miles from me. We’ll have lunch instead of dinner, so my granddaughters can get on the road before the coming rain. My son-in-law will make fajitas – which I love.

Here in coastal North Carolina, the azaleas are suddenly blooming everywhere.

I watched his and hers on Netflix also. I went back and watched the ending again that helped figured out. I love spring rains make every thing fresh and clean….to bad a little mud sometimes too! Lol

Becky – I think I’ll watch the ending again, too – I’m still confused

Love that quilt, Becky in WA. I will be looking for that pattern.

Yes, glorious rain yesterday! A downpour with a thunderstorm after I got home from the city. I can’t wait to get flowers!

Folks are still without power here in central Wisconsin because of the ice storm and trees breaking off from the weight. It rained most of yesterday and last night we had some high winds mixed in. I suspect more outage this morning. Ice once again is covering the trees, not a good situation. We will eat at our daughter’s home and each of us brings something, I have the ham and gravy to walk over. (she lives across the street). I hope someone knows the name of the blue and cream curvy quilt, its quite nice. It looks easy but then I haven’t done many curved quilts.

Kim – oh, what awful weather for you! I remember our horrible ice storm from years ago – such try damage to clean up!

Mary, I’m eager to learn the title of your next book. I’m an avid reader and always looking for a good one. We are hosting our son’s family for Easter here in Gulf Shores, AL. We are having a deboned chicken stuffed with crawfish etouffee (prepared at a local market), ham, hash brown casserole, corn, devilled eggs, salad, rolls and caramel apple pie for dessert. Our grands are coming over today to dye Easter eggs. I also was fooled by the “wavy” quilt – optical illusions are fun! Hope everyone has a blessed and Happy Easter!

We are out of our drought with the 5” of rain we got in one day which caused flooding around us. Streams and creeks overflowed their banks and some roads had to be closed. Saw lots of people carrying fans out of Home Depot when we were there so I assume they are drying out basements.
The quilts are so awesome! Such talented readers and thank you for sharing.
Happy Easter to all. Nice to hear what others cook. My dear friend is doing salmon on the grill for her family. We do traditional ham and scalloped potatoes type meal.

Kathy – my kind of meal! I’m anxious to read our rain amount from last night – oh,did it rain!!!

I’m hosting Easter dinner with family and friends tomorrow. We’re having ham loaf, broccoli-stuffing casserole, asparagus, glazed carrots, deviled eggs and of course carrot cake. Not hard to pull together for 8. It’s cooler today. We’ve had some really warm days recently. Happy Easter to you!

  8. Kelli in N.E. Ohio

Lots of rain here and more to come. Some local flooding.

That curvy quilt is beautiful. I can’t wait to see your strip quilt. I love having a “quick” quilt to intersperse with more intricate piecing. I’m currently working on an easy flag quilt using a jelly roll + yardage- such fun!

Tonight the men’s games – woo hoo! 🏀

  9. Barbara (in MO)

We are getting some good rain this morning as I am up at my usual 3:00 am-(Ugh)
I meant to comment yesterday on the beautiful quilts: Teresa in Indiana, your quilts are always so nice! You make the same kind of quilts that I do and I save the pictures for later use. Also the checkerboard quilt in navy and tan is outstanding!
Today’s quilts are great too. I love the quilting pattern on the pink and blue flying geese and triangles quilt. Its hard to choose a quiilting pattern that complements the piecing without taking over but you did well. Becky in WA, I would like to know more about the blue curvy quilt. I wonder if you pieced string sections and then cut the curves? Its perfect and I love it!

  10. Teresa from Maple Ridge, BC

Wow when I first looked at the curvy quilt I thought it was layed down with it bumping up and down. I didn’t realize it was the quilt pattern and it was laying flat. That’s very effective.
Our springs are always filled with rain and for the next four days it is supposed to be nice. We are very excited about the sunny weather. We anre hosting Easter dinner tomorrow as our son is a flight attendant and leaves early Sunday morning. This way the whole family can be together as well as the couple that are getting married here this summer. So 10 total. I’m making a turkey and all the fixings. We are having strawberry shortcake for dessert. I can’t wait – especially for dessert!

  11. Jeanie S, Central IL

    The readers’ quilts are beautiful!
We had a thunder storm w/lots of lightening this evening, too. My dh said he hoped the rain would help our drought situation.
    Thanks, 🥰

Both women’s game were very good. I expected Uconn to win though. As I’m going to bed rain is starting again in eastern Iowa.Ugh.. Till tomorrow.

Francine – what did you think of Gino’s exchange after the game? I think maybe he was just a poor sport? His perfect record was over.

      1. Francine Fagan from Dubuque

Mary , I read an article on CNN Sports about all that. He had a lot of complaints about referring, his players ripped jersey and more. South Carolina played better and won. Dawn Staley is a great coach too and a lot of Integrity and respect. . For Easter I’m having bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and chessy potatoes ,lemon bars and chocolate pudding dessert. Happy Easter Mary.

Francine – I also see he issued an apology to Dawn – I’m glad he did.
