My #9 Finish, 10-1-21

This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern, I think.

Photo bombs!

Notice the corn – it’s ready!

Reader quilts and projects:

So fun to see these quilts! Thank you!

I am still sorting and finding things to finish – here’s another pile of blocks waiting to be put together.

And the Tilda quilt is waiting for binding.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret – Connie is going to have a fabric sale – I will post all the details when I can – it won’t be real soon but they’re going to be moving next year. Pictures and more details In the future. We’re going to attempt to do this online – ugh. Be patient with us.

Are you excited yet??? Haha! Looks like fun, doesn’t it?

Where is Connie moving? Hope in the area since you are such great friends but she travels a lot and could be anywhere but will be happy to partake in a sale!!!

Such wonderful pictures to see and dream about before I head to bed. Thank you for sharing. Love seeing what everyone is making. Suppose to be in the 70’s tomorrow so going to do yard clean up. Is Blanche eating better?

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Kathy – Blanche is eating better but tonight she will not come in so she gets to stay outside tonight – it’s 60 degrees so it’s ok although I would sleep better if she was inside.

      1. Kathy

That’s good she’s eating better. It’s got to help her having nutritional dog food. I am sure hoping she’s safe and well this morning after probably a restless night for you.

Yes, definitely a Bonnie Hunter pattern, Carolina Chain, from her book Addicted to Scraps. Your version is beautiful! Connie’s upcoming planned sale is exciting!

My first thought on hearing Connie is moving was of her gorgeous gardens and all the work she’s put into them. That would be tough to leave behind.

Oh My Gosh…will wait for details of Connie’s Fabric Sale! Sounds like fun!
Had a wee rain this afternoon. Just received a rain alert for after 8:15 pm! Anyone else viewing the Disney 50 Years?
    Thanks for the pictures, Mary.

I might not have noticed the corn but I did notice those sweet doggies hogging every photo. 🤣🤣

  7. Kathy Hanson

Mary, I LOVE your Quilt!! Love the doggies getting into the pitcures too! Connie’s sale sounds like quite a thing, Hopefully she will be moving somewhere that she will be happy.. I am sure you will miss her! But, I would hope that you would be able to get together sometimes!

  8. Sherrill

So many pretty quilts..LOVE your finish. That dark around the outside just makes it!! And the models with the quilt are fabulous. I seriously need to have a fabric sale of my own but that will not happen so I’ll just try to sew up all I can and maybe donate the rest to the church quilt group.

Maybe Connie and husband are just downsizing? Less to take care of so they can travel more. Though lots of designers don’t live close to each other.
Yesterday I was looking for an emery board, found one that says Country Threads, Garner Iowa.

Hi Mary, have sprained my knee, and now on Zimmer frame! Talk about getting old! Now with the family from Taiwan asl can’t manage stairs.that Blanche is adorable, reminds me of Blanche in Golden Girls! Take care everyone, best wishes from sandy

Love the quilts and the doggies are the bomb! Did you see on Jo’s blog that her daughter is trying out a new way to do her postage fund auctions? Maybe by the time Connie is ready to have her fabric sale, you could get her to set something like that up for Connie’s sale once they get it perfected.

  12. Jean

Mary I really like your quilt! Another finish. Yea.
Yessssss! I’m excited for the sale and SO happy you are doing it online!! Connie’s moving? What?! You have to give us some details. I hope you are not going to lose your good friend to distance.

    Wonderful quilts today!!
Asking for prayers for my son Ron with covid, hospitalized since Aug. 24th and on vent since Aug.31st.
Seeing some small improvement but very slow progress. Dr. claims this is pretty normal for this virus.
    Thank you ladies.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Sally J – we will remember your son Ron in prayer! He’s already been hospitalized for a long time – do you live close to him? How old is he? This is very sad! Please keep us all updated!

Mary Beth S, could I ask where you got the pattern for Crow on the Corn? It’s perfect for fall!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Carla – Crow on the Corn is a Country Threads pattern Nd I can copy it and send it to you for $15.00. In fact if you’re anxious to get started give me your mailing address and I’ll put it in the mail.

      1. Carla

As tempting as that is there’s no rush, I’d never get it finished in time for this fall! I’m glad to know where to find it and will order it eventually. I’m not nearly as productive as most of you, haha!

  15. Jo in Wyoming

    Wonderful post today!!
Love all the pictures, quilts, dogs, stash, and news.
Personally, moving isn’t one of my favorite activities. As a child, we moved a lot. My oldest sister went to 14 different schools in the first grade. That’s only 9 months.
My dad was a brick mason, so we moved to every job. Today, I rather throw up than move! I hate throwing up.
I do love a sale. Even with my stash, I love a sale. Connie’s stuff looks as fun as yours.
    Have a great fall weekend.

  16. Kathy Roloff

Excellent post today, as they always are. I also wondered about Connie’s garden. It must have been a big decision to leave that behind. I will also be waiting for her sale. Mary, the “Plus Blocks ” are beautiful. I would be glad to take them off your hands!

  17. Vicki

Love the Tilda quilt! And I love how the fabric on the shelves in the last pictures is sorted by color. Years ago, my father made me shelving for this purpose and I do the same. It makes pulling fabric so much easier as I start a quilt. I just have to stay “dedicated” to putting new fabric in the right stack! Laugh.

  18. Diane in WI

Blanche and Hazel make a cute pair. Once again there are so many talented people. Connie’s sale would be interesting. Do I need more fabric? No! I need to downsize also so I can fit my fabric in my new sewing room I’ ll have in my new grandparent apartment that my daughter and son-in-law are adding to their new house here at the farm. So much fabric so little time. Have a good weekend everyone.

  19. Carla Francis

Great post today! Can’t wait for Connie’s sale. We have a dog that looks just like Blanche but his fur is a little longer. He was a rescue dog that we got from Chicago. He was very leery of coming inside too. She will come around hopefully!

  20. ChristieB

I don’t envy Connie her move! We’ve lived in our house for 43 years – I hope we don’t have to move EVER!
I don’t need any more fabric, but… who can resist a fabric sale?!? Really like your #9 finish! Rain was really spotty around here, we were able to combine corn all day. Will probably start on soybeans Monday since there will be some ready then.

  21. Jay

Blanche is so pretty. Love her salt & pepper coat. Is she warming up yet? We had a dog who wouldn’t come in at night, & sometimes tempting her with a hot dog would work. AND sometimes it didn’t!

  22. Michele

I was looking for just the right fabric last night and I’m pretty sure I could have located it at Connie’s!!! HA!

  23. San

Connie certainly has some gorgeous fabrics and I’d love to buy a full scrap box, but will any bowls be for sale?
