Our friend, Norma, whom we sent the first cards to passed away last night. You all made her last months happy and “engaged” with all the cards you sent to her and she was still looking at them and thinking about your notes – in fact she got cards even yesterday according to her daughter Sheryl.
Thank you, Blog Readers, for loving Norma till the end of her life!

So sorry to hear that your mother has passed on to her reward. May she rest in peace.

I am just getting a chance to read your comments. I forwarded the blog email to my brothers, sisters-in-law, a few nieces and my sons. We’ve talked several times how the cards brightened mom’s day and several of us also enjoyed reading the cards.
Thank you for your kind words!
May she rest in peace

Well there is a God given example for all of us to learn from. Take a couple minutes out of your day and send a note to someone who isn’t as fortunate to still have a busy day. In the end, those who mail the cards will likely gain more from that one simple act than even the recipient will.
What a great idea you started Mary.
Beamer’s Mom – her daughter was so grateful to everyone who sent a card! Norma was so thrilled to sort them by state, by day – it gave her something to occupy her mind. I have a couple more ladies picked out as possibilities but need to check first. I’ll wait till after New Years when everybody will be reading again.

Sheryl, I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how we prepare it still is very sad. It reminds me when I had patients coming in for blood draws for cancer treatments or monitoring blood thinners for heart issues and then they didn’t come in regularly so I knew to check obituaries. I got so attached to many as we felt the same connection to Norma.
May she responded in peace
