It’s been a day of football, hasn’t it? Congrats to the winners and condolences to the losers.

Tonight I’m working on my Trash Triangles again, here’s what I did with the last bunch a couple years ago. No big deal – I just sewed them together and no, I didn’t resize them. They’re all sort of the same size. I know they’re too tedious to trim.

Seen online – don’t you love Baptist Fan quilting? What a great quilt!

    Hi,

I have a bungee chair which I purchased from The Container Store many years ago (10 years?). Paid about $250 for it. Several of my friends have purchased one since. Quite comfortable and I don’t get hot sitting on it for extended periods of time. Lightweight and easy pick up and move into different rooms.

    Did you “try it out”?

Gorgeous quilts today. I love bright colors:) Mary, please keep us posted on Jamie. That is not right what is happening at her facility.
    Warmer here today about 30*.

Pat in AZ, I loved your quilt show today, choices of patterns and especially such bold colors! All the quilts, actually!

Pat, your quilts are great! Thanks for sharing them. I will be reunited with my sewing machine in a few days. This is the longest time away from it in many years and I am full of new ideas!😂

Mary, your snowball quilt is a classic…one of my favorite patterns. I have seen the colorful fabrics, like the ones I posted, used as swimsuit cover ups! I bought a blue and white floral yesterday and hope to design a quilt around it! Fabric shopping is over as we fly home tonight.😅

Vicki – and that was Twyla’s new red and white snowball – made to look like the one I’ve shown many times. I think I should make a navy and white one next

Great pics. That one quilted in Baptist fan reminds me of “Prairie Panes” by our own Iowa designed Tony Jacobson. I made 2 or 3 quilts from that pattern. They all live someplace else and not my house any longer. Ha

Sorry for all that awful mess Jamie. You all need an advocate to help you all. There has to be a plan or they would all get sued.

Wonderful quilts today from Pat and the use of that kelly green fabric is awesome. Jamie, I’m so sorry to hear of your injury and the issues going on where you live, it’s outrageous. Do keep us all posted.

Pat’s quilts are beautiful. And imaginative..Stunning workmanship. I think the quilt pattern by Crinkle Co is a variation of the bearclaw pattern. Maybe.
I think the small half triangle quilt in your windowsill is beautiful. What patience you have, Mary.
Jamie, this place you’re living just seems to add insult to injury. Not having a food contract through March!!!! Unreal.Violates some law about transfer of ownership I would think. Don’t the department of health have laws governing this type of incompetence when there is a change of ownership? I would be livid as I’m sure you are! Prayers.

Thank you Mary. When they talk about a 6″ or a 12″ bear paw block do they mean the four together or just one? What would you guess is the size of the Crinkle Co one?

Pat – I looked again and I think one claw probably measures 12” or more because of the size of the bed. Just my guess.

Pat, your quilts are stunning! Especially the colors in the first one.
Mary, Your little trash quilt is darling.

Lots going on here. The facility has been sold to another assisted living group based in Indiana named Silver Birch. Our dining room was managed by a separate company and their contract ends this Friday. They have already stopped ordering food and the food supply is getting low. The new owners of the facility don’t take over until March 1 and no one can answer the question of what are we going to eat during February. We not only lose food, they’re taking their plates, glasses, flatware, everything! If nothing gets done I will have every TV station in town out here reporting on it.

Last Thursday, one of the idiots in management sent, via email, my service plan to my niece for a signature. Problem is, my niece does not have power of attorney. NO ONE has a POA currently for me. This was a major violation of HIPPA. Can’t begin to express how upsetting this was.

To top it off, the doors at the entrance to our apartments are extremely heavy, don’t know why they would force those on seniors who are primarily in wheelchairs or using walkers. Saturday night as I was entering my apt the door started coming back on me. I put out my left hand to prevent it from hitting my power chair. It rammed my pinky finger and now it’s fractured. I had to ask my friend who lives nearby and woke up with migraines today to go to Walgreens and pick up a splint for me. I felt just awful sending her out when she was feeling so bad.

Jamie – well, none of this is acceptable! There’s no food company coming to feed you in February? I can’t believe it! How can this be happening to all of you? Is there anyone in management who can help bridge the gap between the two owners? Please let us know what’s happening to you and your friends.

Mary, we’re trying to get answers. Believe me, if they can’t give answers this week you’ll be able to hear me in Iowa!

Jamie, Call the city/health department/social services immediately. There must be several violations going on which need to be addressed. The residents are lucky they have you to fight for them. Good luck and keep us posted.

Jamie, This sounds like Elder Abuse. I am not an expert, but I know you can call your local police department and ask them for welfare checks on all of you. This means they will come to see how you are doing. If there is a problem, there should be a solution from someone who owns the facility.
Sorry to hear about your finger, too. Good luck.

Mary- I too cannot throw away the trash triangles. There is a book, “No Scrap Left Behind” by Amanda Jean Nyberg that has patterns using trash triangles. I made a quilt from all sizes of triangles. When I shared it with my quilt guild, I had offers of more leftovers from my friends (which I declined). I keep a basket beside my machine and use them as leader-enders. I probably have enough for another quilt.

Linda – I have that book and have made several of her quilts and used much of her advice! All good!!
