Here’s what I’m working on now that the wedding quilt is done – Vola’s quilt! I’ll make mine car size and might even start another one with more coordinated colors.
And I finished this book – good but a tragic story of a family torn apart by drug abuse.
Here are some scenes from the barn on this beautiful May morning.
That’s Chicklet by the fence – a full grown rooster now!
And someone wanted to see Colton. Here he is!
Here is the spot where I put all my houseplants in the summer – the BEFORE picture.
Soon – I hope I can move the plants outside!
Rick is “Hazel sitting” today while I attend a funeral with a friend. This makes me nervous.
I love all your farm pictures. And the new quilt looks great.
Thanks for the farm pictures! So lovely!
I really like th quilt you’re working on! Great way to use up scraps and turn them into something pretty.
Thought of you this morning. The city of Ames has “hired” a goat herd for one of their parks that has a weed problem. They are bringing in the heard to eat the invasive weeds in a corner of a city park which includes poison ivy. They said goats will eat almost anything. Interesting, hmm?
Diana – a perfect solution!!
Really enjoyed the pictures!
We are blessed with beautiful sunshine as well this morning. However there is a storm heading for the Pacific Northwest later today. Colton looks a bit intense in that first photo..I am sure Hazel and Rick will do just fine. Hazel is so stinkin’ cute..
Your Hazel is such a cutie! She could probably chew up my couch and I wouldn’t care. When our basset Bud was a puppy, I hated to leave him even for short trips to the grocery store. I still have to kiss him on the head when we leave and tell him we’ll be back soon. He’s 5 now and I think he enjoys his naptime in the recliner while we’re gone.
Love you sharing your farm life with us.Thank You Hazel is adorable
Hi Mary – is there a row of triangles turned around in car quilt? Just thought you should check before you sew it together. 😉
Jan – thank you ever so much!!!! I will fix it!
I usually don’t like little dogs, but your Hazel is adorable! She might change my mind. You make me jealous with all your farm pictures. In my next life, I will live on a farm. Thanks for making me smile
Beautiful pictures! Such a pretty day!
Rick will do just fine.. bonding time right!?
I so love your photos of all your critters! They always put a smile on my face!
I know what you mean about making large quilts anymore. I stay away from that and the largest ones I make are a twin size for the grandchildren. I’m so bored with a couple colors in a quilt, so that doesn’t happen either. I must have a lot of fabrics! Is it the age, I don’t know, but I love designing without patterns and putting in whatever fabrics speak to me.
Love all your pictures.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to share with us. I do look forward to seeing your emails.
Rejoicing here in WA state that spring is finally here!!! Yeah
I see what Jan Shaffer is seeing on your car quilt. Check one row. Love seeing Chicklet all grown up, he is really good looking. Am also thrilled to see Cotton, what a dear kitty.
Wonderful pictures! Hazel is so sweet. We have filtered sunshine here in southern Wisconsin this morning. I have already picked asparagus three times from our “wild” beds. Our cooler days and nights have slowed it down.
Chicklet turn out to be a beautiful rooster! Have a wonderful day!
How lovely! Hens in the yard and a Mama Hen wondering about her little puppy!
Beautiful quilt Mary! I love your photos! Will check the book out. That would be my family unfortunately. Thank you for your posts!
While mom’s away, dad and Hazel will play!
Chicklet is a handsome guy!! Is the goat in the bottom right of the picture pregnant or just a little chunky? I am not sure which one it is, but its rear is to the camera. I love the quilt, too. I made one after you showed us one of yours. Hazel will be fine with Rick:) Colton is looking good; did he and Hazel get along?
Diane – no, nobody’s pregnant – they’re just fat! Ha!
I am wondering about that goat also. I love baby goats!
Is your quilt pattern from one of your books? I think it would be good to use for my overflowing scraps of 2″ and 2 1/2″ squares I keep cutting up. I am glad you have some sunshine there. It’s raining here in New York this afternoon and will for another day so good time to have stay in and sew!
The quilt is lovely – great way to use up fabric! Hard to believe that little Chicklet has become such a beautiful rooster! I have a hard time waiting for your next post – love keeping up with your farm and your quilting. Feels like you are a good friend of mine! Thank you!
Hi Mary,
I have a question. Do you know where I can order trumpet, French horn and piano key (for a border).
I don’t want the cheap fabric and I’m lost where to look. The pattern I found is called All that Jazz.
Let me know if you know of a place. Thanks for any help.. Sue Davis, Argyle Tx.
Sue – my only guess would be to search online. Did the designer use that fabric? If so, contact her to see where she got it.
Chicklet turned out to be a very handsome rooster! Loving this great weather, too 🌷🌷
I feel like the animals are part of my family since I have read you for years. Paula in KY
Mary your farm pics are so nice. A clear sunny day and good to see Colton. We met him just before you closed your shop and he was so cuddly and friendly. I love seeing all your farm animals. A busy day at the farm 😊
Colton is a beautiful kitty! And Chicklet . . . wow! all grown up!
I thought of you today. A quilter that passed away several years ago had a HUGE stash. Volunteers from her quilt guild organized a garage sale for her husband. What didn’t sell was donated to a local charity that makes quilts and blankets for children in the foster care system. Well, they had a garage sale also. Very neatly folded and sorted with 2 lbs in a bag for $5.00. There were at least 75 bags of men’s shirting!
Carol – what a treasure! Think about those potential quilts!
I agree, Chicklet is a beautiful rooster. I too was wondering about the goat being pregnant, I bet you would have liked a new kid. It is nice to see Colton and Hazel So close together.
