I just wrote a very long post about all my IPad issues and it won’t publish . Honestly I’ve been to hell and back with this issue.

Mary, I have nothing new to add in the tech advice area. I think the movie/hot chocolate (or beverage of choice) solution sounds the best to me if the “Unplug and re-plug” trick doesn’t work. What? No plug? I’m definitely out of my league.
Oh, the ads that appeared today are either tech support ads or for senior chair yoga (for relaxation?). Hmm, I wonder where the app gremlins got those ideas?
Sending my best for a tech issue free and peaceful New Year. Be still. Kris in WI
P.S. We will all be here when you can get back.
Mary, a very interesting thing today when I opened your email to read any new comments. The comment box was there for the first time in a very long while. It wasn’t there yesterday. A bright blue box that I couldn’t miss, and it worked. Weird.
Have a good day everyone.
AAACCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mary, so sorry you are going through this frustration.
A half hour west of Peoria, we have had rain, snow and major wind today.I always know it is worse at your house. Stay safe and warm. 🥰
A tactic I use when I’m having “technical issues” is to write my post, letter, presentation, etc., then copy it and paste it to an email to myself and send it to myself. That way, if the program I’m using crashes, I’m likely to have a copy of all or most of the thing i was writing in an email I sent to myself.
Hope that makes sense!
So sorry to hear about your technical issues. We will be here when they get fixed. Stay safe. Especially if you have to go check your barn. The wind is probably terrible where you are. I’m a couple of hours south and the wind is terrible.
Sorry about these technical issues. Do you have your new IPad? Do you have Best Buy in Iowa? It’s a store with super tech support! We get our computer and I pad from them
So sorry for all the frustration. I don’t know how you do it, all the blog post. You have the patience of Job. Hope your Christmas was wonderful. Stay safe
so sorry , those dastardly computers always give us headaches. we are rooting for you, to figure it all out
Oh Mary,
I’m so sorry, technology can be so stinking frustrating! Eerrrrggggg!
Hope it is fixed quickly!
Have a beer or glass of wine and and watch something on TV… hugs your fuurrrbabies 💜
Technology is great when it’s working right? It’s so frustrating. We’ve had an inch or so of snow and terrible winds so ground blizzard occasionally and very cold. Winter in SD should be used to it. We had grandkids overnight. Had fun. Watched K Pop Demon Hunter! No comment haha hope you get the computer issues straightened out.
BUMMER!!!
Dear Mary, wow, you must be socked in with a blizzard for sure. I shoveled the driveway here, the winds are kicking up once again. It is blowing the snow but visibility is not terrible here right now. My thought on yout technical issue, time to order a new iPad, perhaps your technical guy can guide you and if you need help setting it back up, your go-to guy. Bet you can do it on your own tho. Now, what to fix for supper…
Cynthia,
Mary did get a new iPad and iPhone. Although they were synced at the store, they did not work when she got home. It’s so frustrating when things should work and then they don’t and you don’t have a clue how to fix them.
Cindy…wow, I did not know..yes, that is the pitts for sure.
Mary, the best thing you can do is watch a movie and have an ice tea or hot chocolate with something in it. Technology is so frustrating when it doesn’t work as it should. At least you can read the comments and comment back. (Gotta look at something positive). Stay safe inside from your storm.
We got a light dusting of snow last night. My great nephews came for a visit with my nephew and niece in law, they are 7 and 4, they wanted to see all the animals. Then they asked us why we don’t have baby pigs. My son, the animal lover, said, I ask myself that question every day. We all laughed but I’m sure he was serious. When it was time to leave their parents said, say goodbye to the cats and the birds and the dogs, they tried to go back down to the barn to say goodbye to the horses and pig and rabbits but their parents said to us, this could go on for hours, they’d want to come back up to the house again to say goodbye to the animals here. So we left it at saying goodbye to the animals in the house. They were adorable and I think it is so good for them to be exposed to many different animals. I’m sure you would agree.
Teresa,
I loved your “Long Maple Ridge Farm Goodbye” story! Plus, I laughed because it reminded me of phone conversations with my Minneapolis daughter with whom I share “Long Minnesota Goodbyes” when we talk or she comes to visit. There is always one more topic of conversation to cover.
Hugs to your cats, dogs, birds, horses, rabbits, and piggy and any other animal friends who call your place home. Wishing you well in BC. Kris in WI.
I’m so sorry you’re having more problems. I hope they’ll be resolved soon. I look forward to your blog posts. Merry Christmas!
So sorry Mary! All these electronics can be so flipping frustrating!!!!! We are just old enough that it’s not something we are intuitive with….. frustrates the stuffing out of me sometimes!!! I just have to walk away!
Hang in there — we love you out here!
No posts is definitely a signal that changes in technology are not working for you. Such a bad time of year to deal with it as you love to wind down one year and began a new one by sharing with everyone! One day at a time til it gets worked out…we will all be here waiting and hoping for that magic fix to happen. Happy New Year to everyone on your blog!
Yes, technology can be so frustrating! I took advantage of changing phone carriers & a payoff of my old phone. I’ve had one problem after the other! Still haven’t figured out how to restore the old one to factory settings before mailing it to them. My banking is on my phone, so hanging onto it until I figure it out! In this day & age all we can do is try to keep up with new technology! We all understand Mary & hopefully it will work itself out very soon! Happy 2026 everyone!
We are all pulling for you, Mary.
As hard as it is, I think iPad is so much more user friendly than the others.
I had to live without technology for almost a week. The TV went kaputs. Computer also.
My wonderful neighbor came over and fix the TV, he unplugged it, reconnected it, and voila it started working.
My daughter in law got the iPad working again. They are not afraid to push buttons.
I do understand how frustrating it can be. Spending so much time in the dam_ thing only to have it simply disappear. At this age…I don’t have time to throw away.
I’m getting my NewYears project together. I think my NewYears resolution this year shall be to clean out 1 box of stuff every week. If I stick with it, I should be done by next November.
Mary, I’m so sorry for your technology issues and frustrations. There’s probably a secret setting or two that’s not right, but who knows? Take a few deep breaths, roll your shoulders, pet a cat and relax . It will be solved eventually.
Hi Mary, sorry you are having issues with the laptop! Technology is very annoying! Yesterday 11am someone backed his van into the electricity sub station, 62 houses in our street lost electricity, no sewing, tv,lights, internet! They worked all day on it till 7pm,then put a generator on for us. They are back today, hopefully it will be fixed, but a long day! How did people cope in the good old days?! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
I did get your Christmas Eve post but could not comment. Hope things are better soon. Computers can be so frustrating.
Oh Mary, I’m sorry for all your stress and frustration. Stay warm, watch some great movies, enjoy a warm Bailyes and cocoa, and sew a bit too! And snuggle with your fur babies!! You know we are all sending good thoughts your way! Just wish I could send better tech support!!
Hugs and happy thoughts
Hi Mary, I’m so sorry with iPad issues. Someone else said this about technology – “cant live with it or without it!” I couldn’t agree more!!!! Please just hang in there as all of us do in these situations. You know we all love you and your wonderful blog. We will all be here when it’s time for all the issues to be solved. Jan in TN
Thanks, Everyone! So many issues with the new IPad – thy assured me everything transferred but obviously they lied. Can’t get back there today or tomorrow for sure. I think I’ll just quit stressing and watch a movie. Storm is raging outside. I miss all of you, too.
Good to hear from you Mary and just take it easy till the storm is over there and you can get some answers on why everything didn’t transfer over. To us your blog means everything but to some young techs they won’t understand how much we depend on keeping in touch till they are older and in the same boat.
It’s raining here now and then high winds expected so we are in for some trouble with power and tree limbs I suspect. I would not want to be soaking wet in this cold sitting outside in the Bills stadium but the Bills Mafia are troopers.
Stay safe in the storm! We will have the wind tomorrow, but not the snow. Good luck with the technology problems!
I’m so sorry you’re having iPad issues. I remember at work when my laptop would have issues and we had to call a help desk who would walk us through the issue. It was so frustrating as I wasn’t hired to be an IT technician but on those days, that’s the hat I was given if I wanted a working laptop. Invariably, I had a migraine afterwards. I hope you’re able to figure your issues out soon.
Happy New Year, Mary. We surely enjoy reading your blog and sharing life with you.
Mary Beth
Oh, I hate the learning/break-in period with new technology! Grrrrr….
Sorry to hear about your issues.i can wait as long it is technical not health issues. May you get them under control as I miss your updates. The New Year is coming
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hang in there, Mary! Gremlins work overtime when tech-people are on holiday!
Sorry you are going through all of this. I just assumed that you weren’t able to post anything and will be patient until things are resolved. While I miss your posts, I know you are doing everything possible to get things up and running. Hang in there! ❤️
Technology … can’t live with it, can’t live without it! I’d like to live without it (and I’m sure you would too!), but I’d miss you and your furry family, Mary! Good luck!
I give you a lot of credit Mary!
You stick with this blog through lots of problems. I don’t know if I could do that.
I sure enjoy and look forward to more of your great pictures and stories.
Sending a hug! I don’t know whether it’s WordPress or a new iPad and Apple’s changes, but they both could be better at making their updates less stressful, couldn’t they!? I hope one of your computer helpers, who probably are already trying, can figure it out. It’s hard when they can’t be there with you.
Merry Christmas to you, Mary – a little late, but still sincere. Hope the ipad issues resolve soon for you and your new year is a fresh start for all things tech. ~ Suzanne in Michigan
I’m so sorry you’re having these frustrating and miserable problems with the blog. I’m an immigrant in computer land and always will be. I don’t speak the language and have a lot of problems with it. Here’s hoping you are able to get it all worked out because I so miss hearing about your animals and seeing the great pictures you take and post.
This is just awful…for everyone! I want even able to wish you a merry Christmas. Don’t know what’s going on. Hate it. Is this the new iPad? Where’s Richard ? Grrrr
Richard’s grandma here. . .
I’ll give him a heads up to see if he can offer her some help.
Not sure, but worth a try!!

So sorry Mary! We didn’t go to church this am. Snowing and wind…white out. It’s 11:30 am and the snow is done but the wind. Brrr!
Stay warm and safe. Hope you get it figured out! I miss you and it looks like others do too. How’s Morty!
I hope 2026 is kinder to you Mary. You’ve had a rough year with electronics. We’re all pulling for you!
So sorry. Those issue are so frustrating. We miss you everyday when we can’t hear from you. I am wishing you quickest help possible.
Sure hope that the new year brings in better vibes with these “lovely” computers.
They can bring back the “good ol’ days” anytime they want.
Hope everyone has a good new year.
How frustrating for you! I’m so sorry this is happening, what a pain. Wish I could be more helpful, just know that we’re rooting for you and hopefully this will be resolved soon. Hang in there, Mary!
