When I clicked on comments I got the photo of your rain barrel but no ads. Here in Texas right now the rain barrel would be full of hot air and no water. We have had over 17 days straight on over 100 degrees and this will continue on into most of next week. Pray for us.

Yup I got this picture now by hitting the country threads blue header in my email. Nice to see your set up. I was wondering if anyone else saw it in the last post cause I tried going back in and out of the post. At least by doing that I got ads to close correctly as I didn’t get any the first time. I knew from working on a computer back in my work days many times you have to go back out of a system and then back into it to make it load correctly so it works with getting the ads return.

Kathy in Western NY – I don’t think the rain barrel uploaded the first time.
I love my rain barrel. It’s hooked up to a soaker hose that weaves around my garden. When it’s 90 degrees out I just open up the spigot so the plants get water.

We have a couple of rain barrels too. They are great for watering plants in pots and the vegetable patch. I like your suggestion of the soaker hose, KathyG, I think I might try that voor my vegetables!

It’s illegal to gather rainwater in Colorado—everything is a water rights issue out here. Crazy, eh?

Diane Bauer – oh my gosh! I’ve never imagined that one could not collect rainwater! Wow!

Crazy, right?!?!? We are one of only four states that outlaw collecting rainwater. There has been talk over the years of reversing that, but it always fails.

Does that mean if you get water in your basement, Colorado will take it out for you?

Haha!!! No, sadly, that’s on the homeowner!

Wow, it’s illegal to collect rain water in Colorado? That seems odd to me. So many places in the world rely on the rain water to live! But anyway, I love the rain barrel and I’d like to have one. The soaker hose attached to it is a great idea! And we would welcome a source of water when the electricity goes out! Helps a lot to flush those toilets, lol. Jan in MA

When we lived in places that had snow in the winter, I used to collect snow in a container, bring it inside, melt it, and water my indoor plants with it.
I don’t have that option here in Arizona.

Well the rain finally got to my house a few minutes ago, we have been expecting it since early morning. Hope that is rains enough to do some good things have been very dry. Planned an indoor day but was afraid that I was going to have to go out and water. dinner in the slow cooker and doing laundry. I was gone all day yesterday. Had a Pythian Sisters meeting and went on into McMinnville after to pickup a few things. Stopped to visit my son and we talked longer than I expected but was nice to catch up with him. Now I need to work on my quilt project . Love the rain barrel. Closed 9 ads this time . And yes the ads do seem to pickup on what ever I have been looking at recently. Jan in Oregon

Hello Mary, It has been in the mid 70’s for at least the last week, when you showed pictures of your rug, they had ads for rugs for a day or two. I’m still trying to understand why you can’t collect rainwater, why? what is their reasoning, oh well life goes on!

Cindy – Hayward — Diane Bauer, can you help explain the rainwater concept? Is it because Colorado needs every drop for the dry ground?

Mary – I just realized that there was something that was on your blog that isn’t there now and I don’t know if that might be why some people aren’t seeing the pictures or if it doesn’t make any difference. The blog used to come up with just the first paragraph showing and below it in blue print and underlined was “Read more of this post” which produced the whole post when I clicked on it. Just a thought if people are still having trouble. I’m getting many ads to close and that’s a good thing!
