Welcome, Uncle Sam! 5-27-21

He’s here and just waiting to hang by your door – Uncle Sam!

The pattern also includes a small version of Uncle Sam.

Pattern is in the online shop now – it’s a rainy day here in North Iowa which means a day of rest for me. Maybe it’s a sewing day?

Great coffee and Mary’s blog…what could be better?
I’m going to be doing a little sewing today too.
Summer starts next week, I hope everyone has a great holiday.

Kathy Hanson – I do deserve a sewing day – I am so tired at night that I can’t concentrate on sewing! How is Penny? I need a new picture!!

Did a deep cleaning this week, meaning I swept the woodwork, dusted everything and put out Red, White, and Blue quilts and wallhanging. So this all takes a little bit longer but then it’s done for awhile. Ran outdoors to cut some irises before it started to rain, made it just in time in Eastern Iowa.
Hope to get a little sewing done, maybe?

One of my fellow quilt campers just reminding me of my Uncle Sam made during camp one year. Somehow I miscut the pieces that go above his shoulder and they were not the same size. So when I sewed his head to them, the width was fine but his head was not centered but was to the side almost on top of one shoulder. A famous use of the seam ripper and many laughs I will never forget. I think we let him just hang there for awhile and I moved on to something else before I actually ripped and fixed him : )

I put out my red white and blue decor and quilts this week and they carry me through the July 4th holiday too. We went this morning on a hunt for chlorine for our pool my husband opened this week during our heat wave. Now it’s cooler today and more seasonable for this time of year but seems chlorine is in short supply right now. We have enough from last year leftover to get us through for a week or so but it’s back into the 80’s couple days next week so the pool warms up fast with our solar cover on too. Enjoy the weekend Mary!

Good luck finding your chlorine. I heard that it will be in very short supply, similar to the shortage of toilet paper for awhile. My pool is a local beach at a county park, no maintenance for me. Have been on a period of not sewing, I took all the quilts out of my closet – there are 25. Need to see if I can give some to my girls and donate some. Need room to make more.
