What a bust! 2-9-25

Well, that wasn’t much fun, was it? Games that are so one sided are boring, I think. I watched All Creatures instead which was once again wonderful. I didn’t really have a favorite to win the game but I just like good games and this one wasn’t. Congratulations to all you Eagle fans – I’ll bet you’re still celebrating.

I’ve gotten many wonderful pictures and will post only a portion of them each night until I catch up. Here is an embroidered Bible quilt that I own.

Since I’m dealing with many pictures, there’s a chance I could miss yours and if I do, please resend it and tell me I missed posting it.

Here we go!

I’m not too sure if this is a block or what.
These are the same Bible blocks as mine.

I apologize if you sent multiple pictures of different angles, etc, but I tried to pick the best without duplicating.

More in tomorrow’s post – good night!

I hate to even think about the baby dresses my sister and I wore. The got passed down to the baby dolls as we grew older. Most were white lawn with tucks and fine embroidery with the littlest pearl buttons to fasten at the back. I also have an embroidered pink satin afternoon coat and a bonnet or two. We were dressed to the nines as little ones! I don’t think I have any long white stockings left. They probably got used to cover rolling pins over the years.

What a trip down Memory Lane! Thank you, Mary for bringing us all together over the needlework we all enjoy. Stay warm, everyone. Prayers for all who are suffering, recovering, or need support.

Mary, thank you so much for all your efforts at posting these cross stitch samplers and baby clothing and quilts!! I have actually gotten out my cross stitch sampler I made, and the one I found that matches it, and today I bought a frame at Goodwill that will work for the found one. I haven’t displayed these in years, but I am making progress in that direction, thanks to you! I also looked at the narrow shoe box that has my name on it in my dresser drawer, it has baby clothes my mother made for me in it. Pretty amazing. It takes a lot of effort to make a plan and then to carry it out. Thank you for this blog that is so encouraging to all of us!

    Mary,
Great photos of baby clothing from long ago. Wow. Pat from Iowa, I love your kitten blocks. I’m sure my gramma made those too. She always did needlework and quilting. Quilts she made me and my kids are some of my treasures. Love the Valentines table runner and the sheep needlework photo. There is a lot of detail in that piece. One of my favorites here! Thank you all for sharing.
Tomorrow Is day 8 of my dog sitting duty. scotch is getting along really well. My neighbors expected home Wednesday which is our expected snow storm. I hope they can fly home safely. It’ll be a cold day for sure.
I made four placemats today for St. Patrick’s Day. I’m ahead of the game for once!
Have a great week everyone! 🌻

Mary, your baby dress and picture are both adorable!
This post is great. Thanks so much.

That is not Mary in the picture with the pink dress. It is me. Thanks for the compliment. That little dress has some holes in it, and it is not a homemade dress, so I am thinking it probably came from an older cousin. My mom made all my clothes. I had a granddaughter wear it for a picture about 24 years ago.
What a fun blog this is! Thanks Mary.

Marcia – do you know how to send a photo to a friend? Have your photo on your screen and look at the top of the page. There’s a little box with an arrow pointing up. Click on that little box and it will ask where you want to send your picture. Enter this address: maryehazel2020@gmail.com
Try it and see if any of that makes sense and then email me back.

Lamoni is 3 miles from the Missouri border so we consider ourselves part of Chiefs country. I was disappointed in the game turnout but thought the national anthem and memorial ceremony in memory of the victims of the New Orleans shooting were amazing and touching. (I cried.) The Super Bowl commercials were awesome and I cried at a few of those, like the little boy in boxer shorts and boxing gloves that was kicking cancer. I loved the Harrison Ford/Jeep commercial. And Nike’s girls’ sports commercial. There were lots of important messages in many of the commercials. Others were clever and funny.

Yes, the game was hard to watch. But after the Eagles beat the Commanders I feared for the worst.
All the pictures bring back memories of a different time. Oh, the delicate work on those small dresses. I remembering learning to smock on a dress for my daughter. I didn’t save any of the clothes i made for my two girls. So many people handed down clothes for them, I just passed everything down.
    Stay warm.

Mary and all who have shared their treasures and handiwork….gosh! this has been so fun to see the variety through the years! Thank you each and everyone!

I read all of the books of “All Creatures Great and Small”. I thought they were interesting!

I’m writing this at 10 am on Monday….it is snowing and we could get as much as 5 inches, I’ll report later 😂😉. Then comes the deep freeze. We think about going somewhere warm and then we think of the hassle of the airport….or driving for two to three days! We stay in our warm house 😂😂

Four birthdays in the bulletin in one week! Better get those cards finished!
Have a good Monday! If your in the cold country, stay warm!

The really important game was pretty exciting this year – Team Fluff beat Team Ruff 68-66, with a last seconds touchdown.
I watched the All Creatures series on PBS many years ago, maybe in the 1980s?, and read all 3 books. Somehow I’ve never gotten around to watching the new version. I’ve enjoyed seeing all the vintage needlework people have been sharing.

This blog post really hit home for me. I had a dress at age 3-4 similar that one in the pink. I also crocheted a dress for a granddaughter and had wonderful pics of her in it. Her sister wore it too. Ahhh the memories! As for pics, when my hubby died and then my son died 6 months later, I was so hurt I could not look at photos. When I moved from AK I gave them all to one of my daughters. She put lots of them on a memory chip. I have them all stored in my head as memories. Another daughter has all the slides we did and I hope she took them with her when she moved from IA. I so enjoy the photos you post Mary of everything! Thank you.

I love all the handwork, one of my favorite things to do, and especially love the pictures of the old baby clothes. I always look at the children’s clothes when antiquing, I would love to remake some for my dolls to wear but don’t have the heart to cut into the delicate little dresses and shirts. It was good to see the little dress my dad wore as a baby, Nancy sent you the pictures of the dress and the picture of him and his two sisters holding him. Nancy treasures the dress which is now well over 100 years old. I’m still trying to figure out where my emails from my phone go to you, I think to that silly cloud somewhere. If I can get it to work I will send you some of my favorite old treasures.

Take care everyone. We are suppose to have big drop of snow Wednesday. if the weather man gets it right this time I will let you know!

These pictures are so precious! A reflection of a different time in the lives of those of us old enough to remember a slower, calmer time.

I now watch both of those programs – All creatures great and small and Miss Scarlett. I do enjoy them both. Another nice shows ing of quilts, embroidery and baby clothes. Mary I want to thank you for all the hard work you do to make this blog what it is. I enjoy it every time I read it and love looking at all the pictures.

Teresa – thank you. This subject has brought more pictures from readers than anything we’ve ever talked about. Thus I’m a bit overwhelmed and hope I don’t post the same pictures a second time. I try to delete as soon as I post the picture but sometimes I’ve saved the picture twice – ugh. No memory.

Hi Mary – I record All Creatures and so enjoy it. I realize it has little in common with the books except for title and characters, but it’s such a pleasant way to view their interpretation of the times. I also enjoy Miss Scarlet which airs here ahead of All Creatures. Once again, a period piece that I love to watch for the fashion, transportation (those wonderful work horses), and all the skullduggery! My oranges are looking good, but still need a little time on the branch😉. Take care and stay warm. Hug all the babies🤗 – Barb in Tucson
