Beyond The Battlefield #2

This is the scene today on the farm where it is 48 degrees! I’m sitting outside!

Now for the next quilts in the book.

Freedom, Oh, Freedom, 32″ x 32″

And the cover quilt – Same Tune, New Verse

Each quilt in this book features a woman in the Civil War era who lived and worked “beyond the battlefield”. Our good friend, Tanya Tullos in Houston, did all the research on these women and it is fascinating! We can’t wait for you to read these stories about these extraordinary women.

The book price including tax and postage is $29.50, check or cash. You may send your check to our address on our home page and we will hold it until your book ships, after February 1.

Earlier today I posted Jo’s stores and info in case you’re looking for it.

Tomorrow I will show you the last 6 quilts from the book. And on Monday we’re going to tell you how to get the pattern for the Flag Quilt by our friend Scott – it’s called United Colors and is going to be available in 2 sizes. I’ll show you those quilts on Monday or maybe even Sunday if I have time.

I tried not to post much in December because I knew you’d all be busy so now everything is happening at once – I apologize. I would even have waited to post the book pictures but Martingale forced my hand when they featured it in an email to many of you. Whew! I’m exhausted – how about you?

Love all the quilts. Sent my check today for Beyond the Battlefield. I live next to several civil war battlefields and this book should make for interesting reading. Love the pictures of the goats. I did not realize you had so many goats. Love all the animal pictures and your adventures with Reed. Working on my Bull’s Eye.

Carolyn Boutilier – don’t know how many goats got in the photo but I have 12 – 4 are rescue goats. I should tell you about them some time. It’s a pity I never have anything to say, isn’t it? Haha Haha!

The quilts in your new book are stunning! Love them! 48 here today also but so damp and no sun that it felt colder than it was. More rain tonight and tomorrow but predict a nice day Sunday for the Ravens game. Wondering if we’ll have a snowy February? Always enjoy quilting when it snows!

WOW! These quilts are so different and the colors are yummy. I will be buying this book for sure. Retiring in a couple of weeks and the sewing machine is going to be humming. Thanks to you two for making another great quilt book of inspiration

I love the new patterns. The colors are wonderful too. I need to perk up my stash with cheddar and pink.

Thank you both for your preview quilts. Absolutely wonderful. The goats, chickens…love them. Coming up I will be loving the dogs and cats, won’t I? Bullseye 🎯 is waiting for the next step. Thank you, Mary, for leading us along. Weather great; last year at this time it was zero. I never cease to be amazed that you hear from gals all over the country, Germany, too.

Marian Steven – I, too, am amazed at the readers on this blog!

Barn and goat photo….fabulous. The goats look to be celebrating a nice warm day.
Love the quilts, too. A book autographed by you is a much better buy. Martingale certainly did feature your books this morning. Nice

I loved all the quilts in today’s blog; so beautiful! But the photo of all the goats was delightful! It actually made me laugh out loud! My dog, who was snoozing, jumped when I did. Iowa had beautiful weather today. Most of the snow and ice is gone. But we all know that Mother Nature is not done with us yet! Haha!

Love the quilts and your blog! If it would have been 48 last September we would have been freezing! Crazy. But we went running errands and thou Got it was so warm! I’ll take this weather as looooonnnng as it wants to stay!

Looks like spring with the goats out walking around. It was 50 degrees here and I hand washed out some sweaters to hang on my Amish clothes line. They dried in the sunshine!!!!! Boy they smelled good when I brought them in. The quilts are so stunning. Sure loving sewing my bullseyes blocks. Doing a couple blocks a day is making it so manageable for me to keep up with.

Would you say your quilts in the book is beginner friendly? I’m a beginner quilter, they look like they may be challenging for a beginner. Love the pictures, the quilts are beautiful. Inspiring for all beginner quilters.

Tammy Guerrero – yes, some are beginner friendly but some are intermediate. No quilt is advanced level – we just don’t do difficult!

Love those goats! The new book looks wonderful. I love history, and to read about the women of the war will be so interesting.
It was about 55 today, 17 below on Monday! What a change.

Yes a crazy month, but oh so much to look forward to in January and February. These are usually cold and bitter months butt…. this year no snow and warm weather so far. I will take it. Even the big storm in November missed our little corner of the world. 13 inches a couple miles away…. 1/2 inch for us.

The photos are beautiful. Who ever took them did a lovely job. Since I’m next to Gettysburg I’m looking forward to not only seeing it but reading about the women. We are next to a ski resort and with this warm weather and so much rain the snow they made two weeks ago never made it to this week which usually is their big week. Monday and Tuesday they were open and then the rain had done in the snow and now they are closed for snow sports. Sad.

The pictures of the quilts are beautiful. Whoever took the pictures did a lovely job. Living so close to Gettysburg I’m looking forward to reading about the women in the quilt book.
