Christmas Decorating, 12-3-21

If it was JUST decorating, it wouldn’t be so hard but everything is dirty first! Think bare floors, gravel road, cats and dogs – walls, floors, fireplace rocks, beams – everything is dirty. I took down all the little red chairs that I had hanging, all the pictures on the walls – you get the idea.

Here’s the living room which I’ll consider done.

It’s missing a fire in the fireplace. All this and I don’t even have a tree yet – hahaha!!!!

Here’s Kay’s November quilt – I would have no idea how to make this!!

Our ladies Christmas brunch is tomorrow morning – the men serve! Isn’t that a novel idea?

Love the living room! It is festive, yet peaceful, evoking memories of years past as well as present. Thanks for sharing.

All the Christmas decorating (WORK!) looks beautiful. And Yes, I used to live on a dirt road, I get it. Merry Christmas!

Looks like a Judy Niemeyer pattern – lots of paper piecing!

    Beautiful room! So cozy.

I love your living room decorations! That fireplace is perfect for the little red chairs. I hope to get started on Sunday after church…it will take me several days. It is work!
    And Kay’s quilt is beautiful!!

Your living room looks so peaceful with the trees on the mantle. I always string my mantle with lights regardless of whatever season. Kay’s quilt is stunning and I give her credit for such a masterpiece.
I couldn’t even finish a Judy Niemeyer table runner from a class I took!
Sure hope we get to hear the cantata.

I too, understand dirt roads. I like on one and lots of wind to go with it.
Your room looks so inviting. Every time I see red, I think of you.
Have fun at brunch, just be careful of Covid. It’s roaring back.

Your fireplace and living room say, “Come in and sit a spell.” I love it. Kay’s quilt is stunning. I have a Judy N. in progress. Might ne a while—lol! Have fun at the brunch. It sounds great.

My friend just called and invited me to her church’s ladies brunch! Of course I said yes! A local non-profit they support and a high school choir are the entertainment. Sounds like fun to me!

Ahh! So peaceful, and so very pretty. Put your feet up and wait for Santa. You have great decorating skills.

    Kay Crandall…Your quilt is awesome.

It looks like the perfect place to sit covered with a quilt and a warm kitty for a nap. Just beautiful!

Our dirt road was paved about thirty years ago. But the dirt blowing off of the empty corn/cotton fields that surround us more than make up for it. Love your living room Christmas decor! My son-in-law put up my trees and decorated this year. Yay!

You have such a knack for decorating. I know what you mean about all the work involved when decorating. It almost takes the fun out of it. I too love Kay’s quilt. I’ve made three Judy Nymeyer quilts. Paper piecing is not for everyone that’s for sure. I always end up with a headache when I paper piece. ☹️

Mary your living room is beautiful. You know just how to place everything just so.

    Kay what a beautiful quilt.

  16. Margie

Wow! All your hard work paid off! That picture would be a beautiful Christmas card! So peaceful.

Your living room looks beautiful. Kay’s quilt is gorgeous. I do enjoy paper piecing. I understand about the dirt. Living on a farm is great, but the dust and dirt from the dry fields is not. I have the tree up and have to finish decorating it. My sister and I have said it is a lot of work. I have to find my spirit of Christmas.

    Mary,
Santa will so enjoy coming down your chimney….bet you, Rick n Hazel receive plenty of good wishes n 🎁 presents!
I so enjoyed all the quilt pictures. Very beautifully creative, Kay!!!
No new snow here n no one started the stove fire yet! We are so in dire need of SNOW!
I highly recommend the BISCOFF crunchy cookies.
I have Direct TV and checked their 800 music channels for Christmas music 🎶 this early morning…trying to get myself in the decorating mood! Hope the tree is selected n cut soon!
    Happy Holidays!

Your living room is so beautiful… what a wonderful job you did decorating! Those 4 trees on the mantle look like enough Christmas tree for me! Enjoy!

Your fireplace is spectacular Mary! I just love those blocky stones. Are they found there locally? Do a lot of people have fireplaces like that in your area? They remind me of our cobblestones here in Massachusetts. They used to use them as ballast in the bottom of ships I’ve read. Your room looks wonderful – so worth all of the work but that’s easy for me to say! Love the red chairs and your quilts. Kay’s quilt is outstanding! I’ve just started decorating. Hoping to get my Christmas mojo soon! Jan in MA

Love the way you decorated your living room! So inviting!! I hear you about dust– Mary, you need to get a couple of those Rumba’s to vacuum the floors –I sure love mine and I don’t have pets.

Love your fireplace. It looks so cozy! I know what you mean about all the cleaning. There’s no getting away from it!
