This explains it all!
Sewing rooms

This quote describes me and probably many of you!!

A couple of repeats there.

I finished this book today and I can recommend it – Jodi is one of my favorite authors and even though this is an older book of hers, it did not disappoint. In fact it’s one of those books with characters that are still living in my heart.

From Sheryl who’s house/dog sitting.

Remember I hinted at a Little Quilts sale here on the blog? Well, it’s here!! Tomorrow I will post 10 items that are available directly from Mary Ellen Von Holt, one of the three original owners/designers. The post will include her email, description, price and payment info.
Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow! This is going to be fun and I’m quite sure many of you remember Little Quilts. We were all in business during the same years and we now call ourselves the dinosaurs.
Until tomorrow!

I love the over active mind quote. That is so me. Great post as always
Another great bunch of pictures! Sewing rooms, plants, and animals. Looking forward to the Little Quilts; not sure if I remember them or not. Continued prayers, Mary.
Mary, I just finished reading Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez . I thought you might like it. Got at the library. Takes place in Alabama in 1973 when family clinics were sterilizing poor people and giving birth control shots that were not approved . Based on a true story.
Diane – thanks! I made note – I always appreciate a good book suggestion.
I love this blog and readers willing to share pets, projects, plants, and piles! (How’s that for alliteration! Ha!) Pet names are so fun! Calf Lloyd! One picture with stacks surrounding cutting matt…..oh! Can I relate!! Collections are intriguing. Mary you are thought of often!
I always thought the floor was another storage space! Ha!
I love seeing all the sewing spaces – tidy or not. So much creativity!
I hope you get some results back soon.
Love all of the pictures! I’ll have to check out the Jodi Picoult book – some of hers I love, but some I don’t. One I couldn’t even finish, it was just too graphic and tragic. Hope you are feeling better and that you get some answers soon!
I live by the saying at the beginning!
To the reader with the braided quilt (i think that is what it’s called?) and the reader with the soft pastel blocks on the design walls…please share the quilts when they are done.
I love the sewing spaces! There is so much to see and many awesome collections.
I love ANYTHING Little Quilts so I encourage readers that don’t know their history, explore their patterns. They were some of my first sewing adventures. Funny how you Mary think of yourselves as dinosaurs. Never heard that term used but I think the first quilting designers were the best out there. I’m glad I saved so many of my early collections. I still refer to Sandy Gervais, Kansas Troubles, Buggy Barn, you and many others as my fondest pieces.
The sewing rooms are so wonderful to see such creativity at work. I was thinking this morning Mary as I sat in mine and didn’t know what to pick up first from what I just set down in there last night, that we ought to send in pictures next time of a favorite item we treasure in our room or a favorite piece of fabric we can’t cut into cause we still want to look at. I know I should use it and enjoy it in a quilt.
Off to farm market at the corner and couple others for some fresh veges and support local families. Some are teachers and do this for summer income with their kids. Love to support rather than grow my own.
Kathy – great question!! I’ll post it!
Love all the sewing room pictures, Mine is horrible. and all the Animals I just love them all.
can’t wait for tomorrow for information on Little Quilts.
Hope your feeling good today and hear some news.
Love all the sewing rooms! They all look like mine. I’ll take some pictures today. It’s going to be very hot this week so should get some sewing done. Mary, I think of you every day and pray that you can get some relief and answers soon.
Anna M – I, too, pray for answers but want you to know Im in no pain now. I take ibuprofen and since the internal bleeding has stopped, so has the pain.
I had the “creative minds” sign on my desk when I served as Promotion director for a TV station i(n Bangor, Maine) many years ago.
Mary you are constantly in my prayers these days. I hope things get resolved soon and that you are feeling better.
love love love all the pictures, sewing areas, pets, animals, gardens, quilts. it is all marvelous. plus the beautiful butterfly. just magnificent.
i’m still a mess. fortunately the person who did my iv left my arm like it never got a shot, including where i got the steroid shot. think it’s the first time i did not have a bruise. i have to say i woke at 8 am, went back to bed, woke at 12:15 pm, sat down with cat at 2:30 and slept til 7 pm. now i’m getting ready to go to bed. probably have had more sleep the last two day than i have in a week. has it done my back any good? no! hoping it’s helping the new pneumonia. i’m behind on email, but i haven’t been able to sew since last thursday. egads. today mr. ed went and got me a light weight walker with no wheels and a cane so i can get around my house. it’s a mess but at least i can get around a tad. i’ve decided that this must be more than a muscle spasm because i still can’t stand up straight. i want to be able to walk and sit and stand without pain. sorry for hollering but i’m over this.
the pictures of the sewing rooms give me things to look at and look at some more. i like seeing the works in progress on the walls and the flat surfaces. that’s why we share. so we can look and get ideas.
great thing to look forward to the little quilts sale. i loved their stuff also and have bunches. but it will be fun anyway. hoping the pictures and sale helps everyone with ideas. hoping you are feeling some type of relief , mary. prayers continue for your answers and continued healing. quilti hugs to all, patti in florida
Hi Patti in Florida,
I am thinking about you & sending hugs your way! I think I’m fighting with the same back issues you are having 🙁 …I can’t stand up straight. I have muscle spasms (so tight-like rocks) in left glute, quad along left side & left calf. I am going to PT. I had one dry needling treatment & 1 suction cup treatment (both help)…..lots of stretching exercises. This is going on my 4th week, I can for the most part hobble around the house. Don’t know what I did that caused this, but sure don’t want to do it again. O, and I sleep way more that normal….Thinking of you & sending healing thoughts you way, Sandy in Indiana
patti,
Prayers for your back. Hope you get to feeling better.
Wow-how I would like to have a big sewing room-mine is about 8 x 9 and just enough room for one person. Ninja looks like a younger version of my Ginger.
Drooling over the flowers! Hope you had a good day, Mary.
I Ike seeing the sewing rooms even if cluttered. Clutter is the sign of creativity and work in progress. If a room is too neat, clean, and tidy there must be nothing being done in it. Sheryl’s photos of the animals are cute.
I admire all the grand champion and reserve champion ribbons.
Creative Minds. That explains everything! I deep cleaned and sorted and put out of sight anything and everything NOT NECESSARY. And I haven’t sewn anything for months. Literally six or seven months. I can’t find anything!!! Absolutely love the ‘in use’ sewing rooms, the machines, the windows and lighting. I’m actually more addicted to sewing machines than quilts. ♥️
It’s going to get to 98 degrees this week. Aaaaarrrggghhh!
Time to go digging for projects you have put away!
Time management! So we have others that are like me. And a floor! In your sewing room? What a strange concept. Love the animal pictures as always. I want to take them all home. Weather is ugly here, not too much rain he said, but the wind has been horrible. Take care
