Olympic Rings

Not sure why this didn’t post – maybe I simply forgot it – I don’t have anything else to think about, do it?

I really do love the way it looks against the rocks and the other textures. It’s very lightweight and a bit of a mystery to me – but then that’s what makes thrifting so much fun. You just never know what you’re going to find!!

I see the number 80 and also the cat climbing tree.
I hope you can get some relief soon and be on the road to recovery.

I hate to be negative, but…what is it? What is it made of? If it’s light weight, are you afraid the wind will blow it away?

On the bright side…the Olympics tonight were fun to see. That French swimmer was unbelievable, as was Simone. She keeps raising the bar on herself and delivering a breath taking performance.
It’s goina be hot…HOT again this week!! I need to catch up on yard work, yuck.

Mary, I wonder if you were thinking Olympic rings when you found them. That’s probably not my first thought would be. I’m surprised that they are metal. It looks like carpet wrapped around a sturdy frame. Anyway they are interesting.
Wondering if you watched any Olympics on Sunday. Enjoyed the US women’s soccer win against Germany, swimming and gymnastics and a little of some others. The cross country equestrian event was interesting. Great Britain dominated that event. Beautiful horses.
I hope you had a relatively good day. Will be thinking of you and praying for you. Hope you get some answers Monday.

Wonder what your new garden find is? It does look cool there. Unlike that bruise. Yikes

All of the textures together look nice together – the art, the plants, the rocks, the wooden bench, and the clay pots. I probably wouldn’t have looked at the rings in the thrift shop but I sure like the look combined with everything.
We’re up in Iowa for the week. I think it’s the last time of staying in the hotel. Electrician, plumber, vent cleaning, countertops, and bathroom vanity are scheduled for the week. I’m so ready to start ordering furniture and staying in the house.
Yardwork is also on the agenda as the weeds are taking over. I don’t want the neighbors to think we won’t take care of the yard. A friend of mine says she’ll give us a year or two to have the “botanical garden” look that we have in Texas.

Susan – my yard is looking pretty ignored right now and I just hate it but trying not to overdo. I always tell my friends that you have to thrift with an open mind. I use thrifting as a rental system. If I get it home and it just doesn’t fit in anywhere, I chalk up the $6 to entertainment – like a fancy coffee and pastry. And when I get tired of it, I return it to the thrift store – rental just for fun.
I’ll bet you simply cannot wait to move into your new house!!!!

I like the texture and color of your art work. What is it made of? It looks great against the rocks.
    Praying for your results soon.

Charlotte – it is very lightweight metal. When I bought it I intended to hang it indoors but I like it where it is and it’s weatherproof!

I’m hoping you hear from the medical folks soon. Is Keeper back to his old self now that you’re home? It is finally not raining here. We had six or seven in a row so the ground is wet. Of course we are trying to not to complain because we were in such a drought. Early planted corn may be lost, but the late planted corn maybe okay. Nothing like a farmer for faith. Blessings to you!

Frances – yes, Keeper is fine now but it’s inevitable that I’ll be returning to the hospital – poor guy!

Oh dear—I read the title of your blog today as “Onion Rings” instead of Olympic Rings!!! I think I need a nap or new glasses! I wonder what your new garden sculpture is made from. Nice textural contrast against your rock wall. Yes, as Connie in NV says, thrift store finds can lead to adventures, but “onion rings?”
Laughing at myself! Prayers continue for all. Kris.

I love your rings art. Whatever it is or was supposed to be, it looks great right where it is. Great find!

Put raw onion on your bruise from the IV. You can slice the onion and put it on your bruise, or you can put it in a food processor and pulverize it, put it on a paper towel cover it with saran wrap then an ace bandage. There is an enzyme in the onion that breaks down blood and allows the body to absorb it. If you don’t want to use the onion, I understand it is also in meat tenderizer. Heal fast 🙂 Hugs to you. Kara

Sorry, but I have to take the other route. It does have a different texture that I can see you think is interesting, but I wouldn’t have it. Oh well, we can’t agree on everything.
It’s another hot, muggy day in southern Minnesota so I guess I will have to stay indoors. There is a Minnesota Twins game this afternoon so that’s good.
    Have a nice day everyone.

Janet S – what is it that you don’t like? No offense taken but just trying to see your side of the discussion.

      1. Janet S

Mary, The shape and color are fine, of course, so it must be the texture which to me looks like it’s growing. Naturally, I couldn’t see what it’s made of from the picture so up close I may like it.

Very unique. It seems to be all one piece?? Do you think it was handmade? It looks great where you placed it.

I should read before I send. I intended to say it is an odd and unique piece of artwork.

Looks like a cat’s climbing tree. But I agree it looks great against the rocks. Recycling can lead to creative adventures.
