It’s almost 10 pm and I’m announcing the Dirty Dozen number for March – it is 12. March Dirty Dozen is twelve. Find your UFO numbered 12 and try to finish it by the end of March.
Since Rick was in the hospital on Saturday they were kind enough to do the ultrasound then so we didn’t have to return on Monday, today. However the area surrounding the wound is inflamed and we have been instructed to see our wound specialist tomorrow at 8:45. So it’s another trip to Mayo. Isn’t this the 3rd trip in 5 days?
I don’t have time to post anything else except your Dirty Dozen number which is …..12.
Oh my goodness. I will be praying for Rick that it isn’t a set back already. And praying for a safe trip…roads should be good and temps getting better.
Rest tonight, Mary. God has this all figured out.
HUGS
We’re praying for you both. Please take care of yourself too. Shingles is no picnic. It can be very dangerous. Love and prayers for you both.
Ah Mary, how difficult! Another drive up there leaving in the dark. It’s a double edged sword—a fabulous medical facility not too far, but still a long drive away. I hope it goes well and the inflammation problem is solved. Thinking of you…
So sorry that you are on the road again. I’m sure you are exhausted from the driving and concerned that Rick’s foot is not healing as you hoped. Praying that the wound specialist will have wisdom to treat the wound well and that it will heal as it should.
Oh gosh Mary, it’s an early morning drive and I hope he isn’t in any pain with the inflammation. We’ll be thinking of you both with prayers and wishes for a good day. And just to thank you for with your color influence you have shown us here on the blog …I bought my first men’s shirt today at a goodwill store to cut up for fabric. I was so proud of myself looking through the racks thinking of how much fabric I would get. Ours here were $5.15 for a short sleeve. I hadn’t been in the goodwill store in two years cause of covid so I stocked up on books which were still a bargain at $2.
Kathy – oh, yippee! A great mens shirt – hope you bought the biggest size and I am appalled at my favorite thrift store – I stopped last week and an old 6” x 10” Tupperware was priced at $10!!!!! Ridiculous!
Mary this is Janet from Il sending prayers for you & your husband these medical things are hard your doing your best. I am healing from knee surgery Janet
Praying for you both. 🙏 ❤
Sleep well. Hope the roads are clear and there is good news tomorrow on Rick’s wound. All those appointments can be exhausting.
Hi Mary,
This is time for you and Rick. Take care of each other. We will be fine out here. Love.
Praying for safe travels and help with healing. We appreciate your letting us know the number tonight and a short explanation. We know your health needs come first, but you do know we would all have been so worried if we hadn’t heard from you since it is the first of the month. It was so thoughtful of you to inform us when you have so much on your plate right now. I’ll be keeping you and Rick in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.
Marsha – yes, that’s exactly why I posted it tonight- you’d all be emailing and sending me messages because you’d think something was wrong if I didn’t post the number! Oh, we know each other too well! Haha!! Thanks, Marsha!
Prayers for healing and for your safety as you travel back and forth to the Mayo Clinic.
Driving at night is a real challenge, I feel and understand your anxiety.
I, too hope your travels tomorrow are safe, and Rick’s issue isn’t too serious.
Remember to check any prescriptions for availability before you leave.
I went to the dr today any should be better in a week or two. Shingles are misery.
Prayers for a safe trip to Rochester and a good outcome for Rick 🙏
Hi Mary, praying for a safe journey and improving health for RICK, life should get easier as we age , but it doesn’t! All the best, love from sandy
Mary, I am sorry Rick’s leg is not getting better. When I was at our wound center they put a patch like on my leg over the wound. It had honey in it and was from Australia. It would burn like crazy and I would go home and lay in bed and cry all day. After the 4th trip I took a picture of the wound and sent it to the wound center as it was not getting any better. Come to find out I was allergic to that patch. They would not listen to me and kept telling me it should not hurt. this burned like a red hot poka , I complained each time.
Pray Rick’s leg will get better. Carolyn b Shenandoah Valley Va
So sorry to hear, sending prayers 🙏❤️
Prayers for you and Rick! Safe on the highway and hope Ricks set back is minor. God will give you strength on being a caretaker.
Praying for safe travels as you go back and forth and back and forth. Also praying for healing for Rick. Sure wish I lived closer and I’d be happy to be your driver. Please be safe!
Happy March 1st. Ours came in like a lamb hopefully the lion at the end of the month will be tamed 😊
As I read the comments I was thinking your drive has already started. Prayers for a good day Mary with good news.
I’m so far behind on my dirty dozen🥴 but I will look at 12 and see what I can do! I think some of the 12 on my list this time will be on the next list of 12! Oh well it is what it is and I’m thrilled to get whatever I get done. I will be waiting to hear how your day went!
It’s Fat Tuesday and paczki are a big thing in our area today. So if you haven’t tried one of these jelly or creamed filled doughnuts you should. Their personally not my thing but people stand in long lines at all the bakeries in our area for their paczki’s before lent. Try one with a nice hot cup coffee ☕️
Prayers for you both. Safe trip— the roads are good.
Travel safe! Hope you don’t have to drive in the dark! Watch for animals and strange weather. I love your blog!
All prayers and good thoughts are coming to Rick for healing, and to you for strength, endurance, and patience. Heaven knows, you have needed all of those and more.
Oh, no!! So sorry this happened! What an ordeal this has been! Hoping that it will be alright.
Thinking of you and am praying for safe travels for you! Hope Rick is seen quickly, you’ll find out what’s up and be able to return home soon today.
I never did number the pile of unfinished and never started projects. I can just reach in and grab one! But I have been working on finishing the bullseye quilt that I started with you last year! Strange how quickly a year goes by when we think it’s dragging along…🙄
Hi Mary – I’ll be praying for you and Rick as you make this trip again. I hope his wound will heal soon. Thinking of you. ❤️🙏
He needs to have this checked. Glad drs. are on it. Safe travels.
Praying for healing and for peace and comfort for you both.
I’ve been to the wound specialists 2 different times-these women were truly angels and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated them! I hope they are as helpful to Rick, plus they had the good bandages-good luck!
Mary, you shouldn’t worry about us & the dirty dozen, you have so much on your mind right now but thank you. Good luck to you & Rick, hope all goes well!!
Prayers for good results and speedy recovery for Rick.
I hope travel is easy with clear roads. It is supposed to rain in southeastern Wisconsin quite a bit this week so I’m hoping for an early spring!
I finished #5 from January, its only a wall hanging but it’s done, will look for #12, I’m hoping the top is done and I just need to machine (domestic) quilt it. I have 3 baby quilts for my church group to bind today.
Mary, Am thinking of you and Rick. Hopefully the doctors will be able to get rid of the inflammation so
Rick can be on the mends. Take care of yourself also. Thank you for thinking of the girls that are doing the Dirty Dozen. I hope the weather stays decent for your travels. About wrapping up with the Linus quilts. Will have over 30 finished this week. Then I will start on a project for myself. Hurray. Prayers are going to Rick and you.
Glenda – wow, that’s a lot of charity quilts!
Just do what you have to do to take care of you both! None of us have to hear from you for awhile if you need the down time. Love your posts when you have the time to do them
Mary, you are so right. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw your post this AM.
Safe travels:) Good thoughts for both of you. Going to be 53 here today:)
Thoughts and prayers go with Rick and you. Hope this will be a good trip without challenges. Peace Micky
Oh no! Praying for you and Rick. I’m praying for healing and safe travels.
My son had a sledding accident last Thursday and has a compression break on the L1. No surgery needed but he has to lay flat for several days. I send up lots of prayers for healing so you and Rick are added to my list.
Hoping you have a good drive to and from Mayo. I know it’s tough. Also hoping all is well with Rick. Another exhausting day for you. Such stress!!! Thank goodness you have your sewing and you blog friends.
It takes time for healing. To bad it’s so far. Rest and don’t post. We understand and we’ll look forward to your blog when you feel like it.
Sorry to hear about the setback for Rick. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow. Take care of yourself too.
Have they even mentioned hyperbaric treatments?
Thanks for posting, Mary.
Safe Travels, 🥰
Oh dear! So sorry Ricks would is inflamed! Yikes! I was worried about that too. But, I’m good! I did react to the tape around my incision and so I have a red fire itchy stripe all the way around my incision. Ugh! The nurse told to not to put anything in it….well, I asked if I could use trimincilone (sp) . She said I could, but, do not get it on the incision! I took an extra allergy pill too. Ugh! Always a bump in the road it seems!
I hope and pray Rick gets his wound issues cleared up. Safe travels.
Sometimes I get so angry at the medical industry. Doctors don’t think we have lives other than to visit them. We have to drive for an hour, to sit for several hours, to see a doctor for maybe fifteen minutes and then drive back another hour. This is for my retina specialist. And he’s just one doctor. I know they are important, but I just wish they’d think about our time they are taking.
Mayo may seem like a long ways away, one hour and 45 minutes, but it’s really close when you consider the distance patients drive or fly to be able to be seen there at Mayo. At least, you can see multiple doctors with appointments on the same day and get the results a whole lot faster than you can back here in our area of Garner.
