Easter Cinnamon Rolls

Don’t give me too much credit for baking those good looking cinnamon rolls. This is how they started out – frozen from the store – ha!

In a saucepan, heat 1/4 c. Butter, 1/4 c. Brown sugar and 1/4 c. White corn syrup.

Bring to boil. Pour into the bottom of a 9×13 pan. Place one dozen frozen rolls on top.

Let rise all night on the counter. (I do this at 10 pm.)

Bake the next morning for 20 minutes at 350.

Turn out on a cookie sheet.

Voila! Beautiful cinnamon rolls on your table.

I watched Jesus Christ Superstar LIVE tonight on NBC. It was beyond fabulous – I am awestruck! Did anyone else watch it? What did you think? I was familiar with the movie and the music from years ago and loved it then – John Legend was so good!

Mary I did watch Jesus Christ Superstar. Had never seen it in any version before. I had trouble understanding what they were singing so I used my iPad to follow along after I found the songs. After a while it became easier to understand their singing but I did like following along and also knowing who the various characters were. Yes, John Legend was good ….even Alice Cooper. Not that I’m a fan of his. But all in all I’m glad I watched it in its entirety. Happy Easter Mary to you, Rick, Hazel and all the others.

Thanks for the cinnamon roll recipe. Looks like a good item for breakfast with the ranch hands!

We saw it in the seventies at CY Stevens Auditorium at Iowa State. It wasn’t a student
production, but a Broadway one. The music was so loud and we were on the main
floor, you could feel the sound waves hitting your chest! It was amazing!
I liked the one tonight but it was different from the one we saw. Much more modern take.
I liked both of them. Didn’t you think the guy who played Judas did a great job? I had
never heard of him before but he sure can sing. Probably because I am old and don’t
know all the new singers etc. we usually listen to 50s on 5!

Katie – I texted Becky and said “Judas is really something! “. I had never heard of him either – just excellent!

Pamela – Alice Cooper as King Herod was the frosting on the cake!

Loved the production of JCSS. For them to do it completely live was awe inspiring.

I really enjoyed watching the modern version of JCS. The music was fabulous. Thank you for the “recipe” for the cinnamon rolls. Perfect!!

Smart girl with the cinnamon rolls! I loved Jesus Christ Superstar. Felt like I was in NYC at the Broadway play! The production was so professional. John Legend was perfect along with Sarah B. Andrew Ward Webber (?)) is a genius! It was a very nice topping to our Easter Day.

Yes I watched it! I agree it was just fabulous and John Legend was so good. I saw it years ago on broadway and was so happy to see it again. Did you watch the program earlier in the week with Andrew Lloyd Weber? He is so talented and I love all of his work.

Sharon – did not see earlier program – how did last night’s performance compare with Broadway?

Mary, I too watched Jesus Christ Superstar and thought it was fabulous. I was a junior in high school when the movie came out and I could still sing along with the songs! April played a joke on us here in Ohio last night. We got a beautiful covering of fluffy snow. Oh spring where have you gone?!

We watched it. We had seen the original Broadway production years ago. This one was very well done and much more polished than most of the other live productions they have done on TV. The talent was top notch. The only thing about JCSS that bothers me is that is doesn’t fully cover the Resurrection. I have always felt that was an important part of the story.

First, Happy Easter a little late. I just read yesterday’s post–family in so busy, busy. We watched the Women’s NCAA final game (amazing) and I DVR’d Jesus Christ Superstar. We saw it through the Broadway series in Columbus years ago and it was great. I’m anxious to watch it. Those cinnamon rolls look delicious. We have 2 inches of snow today in Central Ohio!!

I may be old but even the modern one moved me. I enjoyed it very much. I saved it to watch again.

With the rolls being frozen like that, seems like you could bake just a couple at a time. That said, I have never seen them in our supermarket, but I have never looked for them either.

I missed JCSS. Sorry that I did. We are always on Netflix or Amazon now, so didn’t even know it was on. Darn!!

Didn’t watch last night’s edition. But love the music just always disappointed by how it ends at the crucifixion and no rising on Easter.

Mary – I understand your point about no resurrection but all believers know how the story continues, right?

Thank you so much for “cinnamon recipe” — can’t wait to try!! I didn’t get to watch it last night, but did record it. I do think John Legend is very good and showing my age, been an Alice Cooper fan forever, think the show was fabulous. This way I can watch in “peace and quiet.” Hope all is going great for you and your husband!!

  16. Mulvey Rita

I would have watched it but I didn’t know it was on. I’ll have to check if my cable company has it available on demand. Great looking cinnamon rolls I wouldn’t have told anyone they were frozen.

  17. Penny Ericksen

I watched the show and found it meaningful. Thanks for the recipe. I love you’re-mails. Hope your husband’s recovery goes well!

Penny – I’m so glad to hear from you! How are you, your family, your dogs, your quilting? Email me and tell me!

The “performance” was interesting and well done. But the story was full of fake news. They didn’t even cover the resurrection. Without the resurrection, there would be no story. They made Jesus look like an egotistical nobody. Very sad. But what can you expect?

I agree with you..it was a fabulous rendition of one of my favorite musicals ! John Legend was terrific!
