I made this the headlines so it would catch your attention. The Fever plays Atlanta at 3 PM on NBATV – don’t know what that is for you but probably League Pass for me.
I haven’t even gotten all the comments read this morning but thanks to Richard, once again, the blog seems to be working – my heart is in my throat when I have trouble with it. I am so thankful Richard is an email away!!!
I’m drinking coffee in the porch but it’s pretty chilly and my nose is even cold. Ha!!
Don’t forget the game!!

Mary,
Good morning! Cool here but getting to upper 70’s. Worked in the garden for a few hours while cool but I had a warm coat and work gloves on!
Got a stack of four patch blocks to sew together as soon as I get in my sewing room. Going on Thursday to my sister’s cottage for a sewing weekend with two sisters and a cousin. Four machines will be humming! We’ll also take a few walks along Lake Huron to look for Petosky stones. Do you know what those are?
The Detroit Lions won in overtime and it was a well played game. Also enjoyed the Fever win in OT!
Have a great day everyone! 🌻
Sunflower – tell me what a Petosky stone is – I have no idea. Oh, the Lions game was exciting, wasn’t it? And The Fever game almost gave me a heart attack. Your weekend sounds very fun!!! What project are you taking to work on or something new?
Thanks to Richard. Comments are back for me as well.
A special thank you to Richard for getting the blog up & running!! We do appreciate you! Very cool here in SW Ohio, in the 40’s, but does warm up during the day. It appears that we will see temps in the 80’s by mid week. Saturday we had a couple of short showers, but still very dry. The deer are coming through searching for anything green. They’ve “pruned” my Impatients. Never thought about them coming up on my porch to eat!! So I’ve started covering my plants at night. So far that’s worked. Usually Irish Spring soap chips keeps my plants safe. I’m just not ready for fall yet, but the over 95* days are unusual for this area. But I will be putting my fall decorations out to enjoy. I do love my fall quilts & the pumpkins!
i am so waiting for it to cool off here. then i won’t be roasting all the time and if mr. ed is cold, he can just put on a sweater. i am so tired of being hot. getting the pool resurfaced and now paying an over $550 electric bill, i won’t turn the a/c down. it still wasn’t worth not taking care of the pool.
got the report today with numbers from angels and the total number of quilts is 6,939. i was close.
today i chose to leave the weird size of the rectangle checkers as is. right at 40 x 60. have a great print for the back. made the binding. now i just need to photo. still no border for the other quilt yet.
still trimming up the scraps. a lady on a list i’m on made a potato chip block quilt using 4.5 x 8.5″ blocks. looked good and quick. so i’m cutting up some of these scraps to that size. soon i hope to get back to the actual piecing. the only stitching today was making that binding and repairing mr. ed’s pillow case. want to stitch. definitely tomorrow.
hugs to all, patti in florida where all the direct tv folks are in sports limbo because of a dispute between disney and direct tv. what a true pain. similar to not being able to find the fever games.
Patti – it’s the extremes in temperatures that none of us like – we’re already too chilly for tshirts and you’re dying of the heat. Our high heat bill in a few months will be simliar to your high AC bill.
Whatever happened to sharing the recipes? I was on vacation and now have forgotten what salads I listed. Ugh! That clam chowder Kathy in NY mentioned. I would love a recipe for that!
I’m hoping to go on a girls getaway tomorrow up north to Ottertail! Hubby is staying home to keep the farm under control.
Joy, I will take a picture of the clam chowder recipe and send it to Mary. It’s soup weather now and goes so far for meals. Why I like this particular recipe is that I either make it in my crock pot or in a Dutch oven depending on when I serve it. Yesterday I was in a hurry so it all got combined after I cooked up 6 slices of bacon to add to it and served with a fresh loaf of ciabatta bread the farm market by our camp sells.
Joy – should I ask for recipes again? Do you mean you thought you could still find them here on the blog? I assume you’ll have to copy them off – otherwise it’s too difficult to go back to find them.
Our high was 73, but it was quite cool this morning; I wore long sleeves all day but still wore my shorts.
Thanks to Richard, most grateful for his IT skills.
We had a low-key day, just the way we like our Sundays. Have a good week, bloggers.
Thanks, Mary 🥰
Looked forward the last few days to watching the Fever’s game today. Guess what, we can’t get it. What a Big disappointment. Why can’t they show all the games of WBNA on one tv station consistently? It is so frustrating when you pay for extended cable and the sports station and it still isn’t enough to get the Fever’s games.
Beautiful day here in Colo. Hard to believe it’s so chilly back there in my favorite state. Wrap a quilt around yourself, Mary, and enjoy the game, if you can get it, from your beautiful porch. This is the time of year my husband and I, along with another couple, used to take a trip up the eastern side of the Mississippi River to go to Gays Mills, Wisc. to the apple country. The leaves should be beautiful on the Iowa bluffs. It was always a fun day to stop at a couple of quilt shops along the way, have a picnic, or stop for lunch at a diner along the way. And then in the way home, we’d be munching on those tasty fresh apple cider donuts and juicy crisp Honeycrisp apples. Great memories. Still keeping you in my prayers for the upcoming surgery, but wish you didn’t have to wait so long. God’s timing is best though, and as you’’be said, you can get your fall chores done first and then have the surgery. Have a great week everyone. Jeanne in Co.
Jeanne – I couldn’t agree more about watching the game – I searched for an hour to see where it was going to be. I have League Pass but said it wouldn’t be on there. I was furious since this is why I pay for League Pass. Then as it turns out it WAS on there! I’m so sick of wondering if I’ll be able to wstch. Does it have to be this hard???
Hi Jeanne,
I remember the Apple Festival in Gays Mills! My father was born in Soldiers Grove and my mother was born in Viroqua, WI. Nothing more beautiful than the colors on the Bluffs and the car ride along the great Mississippi in the autumn…Talk about apple country!!! My husband and I grew up in La Crosse and went to many Applefest celebrations in La Crescent! I remember the “Queen” of the Fest riding on a beautiful float in the parade they held. You brought back some wonderful memories of my childhood and the smells & colors of autumn. I’m wondering if you still make those trips to apple country?
Thanks to Richard! So grateful for your computer skills.
I made a large pot of New England clam chowder soup as our son loves it and he’s here helping get the motor home ready for a trip to Watkins Glen for the nascar race next week. It’s a generational trip for the guys- Papa, Dad and grandson and another son in law with our granddaughter and friends in another camper. I’m happy to stay home and sew.
First time wearing socks since last May I think! We were at Lake Ontario earlier this morning and the waves were so big, splashing up on the shoreline. Sure was not fun driving in high winds.
Once again. . . “Richard to the rescue!!”
Thank you & so proud of my grandson!!
Peggy – YES! I am so thankful he’s just an email away! I wouldn’t even have been able to sleep last night worrying about it not working. Whew! Thank you for connecting us, Peggy!
I am so envious of you, it will be 95 today. Went for a walk but had to come home, to hot. So having iced coffee. I didn’t get to watch the game , but did watch Notre Dame game. Wow. I’m staying inside in the . Have a good day
Deb – I have long pants and long sleeves on to go outside and mow. Ugh, I hate it. Couldn’t we all have a happy medium????
Hope you are doing well! Yes the comment section is working I think. I will = Mi be sending this in.
Hi Mary, I can’t comment directly to you, but it is letting me reply to Judy B. Hi Judy😀. . I will try to find the game. 44* here this AM, but going to 70*. Perfect. Hoping to quilt next week😀. I still do the Dirty Dizen for myself, but baby quilts or something get done first. I found a big black snake skin this AM. I don’t think it is from the same black snake that was in the garage. Hope they go back to their empty lot. Ugh!
Diane – snake skin???? Eek!!!!!
Thank you for the reminder. Couldn’t blog on Hi Richard one but can now. Wasn’t back on the computer yesterday so responding today. Good Iowa/Iowa State game. Wow, quite the field goal of 53 yards! That
is something about Angel Reese. Cooler here in the am also. Been attending the Junior grandson’s foot
ball games and will start with the freshman now on Monday after school. Is fun to watch them play. Been working on a quilt. Decided to add an extra row so am doing that now before the borders. That is a lot of
eggs. They are producing well for you. Thank you, Richard, for getting Mary back to us that we can comment now.
Thanks for Fever reminder, I’m pretty sure I can’t get that channel, I can catch them on ION but I think they are home games.
Chilly & quite a strong breeze but sunny!
Thank goodness for Richard & you Mary!!
Thanks for the heads up Mary. NBA TV for Direct TV watchers is channel 216. I’ve been able to watch most of the games on that channel.
On our way to church with Caitlin in tow. We usually leave her home but we’re going to visit an elderly friend after church and she loves Caitlin.
Have a beautiful Sunday.
Well I am on the blog – at least for today.
Did anyone reading this get to the Madison Quilt Show?
I can’t always get the games here but thank you for the reminder! We’re so glad Richard is an email away too! I just finished coffee on the breezeway, it is really chilly out there! My nose is running, lol. We have lots of ragweed, unfortunately, this time of year. Still hasn’t gotten above 60 and it was in the mid fifties when I fed the chickens, brrrr…. Jan in MA
Jan – I’m going to mow until the game starts and I’m wearing long pants and long sleeves!!!
